I've been posting my progress with PV's on my facebook page and most of my friends and all of my family are very supportive. But one friend, I would just love to strangle ... lol. This I think is going to be the hardest part of our battle in getting people to understand that we are not smokers any longer, we are vapors. But in their eyes and minds, if we haven't kicked the physical habit of smoking, regardless of whether or not we are using nicotine, then we are still being considered smokers.
This is what I posted:
I'm tobacco smoke free for 4 weeks now. Free from all the carcinogens in tobacco cigarettes. My breathing has improved, I no longer wheeze or get out of breath easily. Smokers cough now completely gone. And for those who aren't aware of it, nicotine does not cause cancer. It's a vasoconstrictor just like caffiene is. Don't harp on me about my nicotine and I won't harp on you about coffee, tea and sodas.
This was her comment:
I'm really not harping, babe but I am just a bit skeptical about a substitute cigarette as nicotine replacement therapy because it does not address the physical habit of smoking. You know, actually putting a cigarette in your mouth. I realize you will eventually step down to 0 nicotine as with the patches, but you will still have the habit of putting the thing in your mouth....like any other physical habit, such as hair twirling or nail biting, its tough to break....( oh and I can't wait until you are a non-smoker....we former smokers are the worst kind!!!)
