or probably just not blow huge clouds at stoplights trying to get peoples attention. lol

Yeah, because the world will end if i blow vape clouds at a stop light.

And here i thought we supposed to educate the public, instead of hiding from it. Shame on me and my positive out look on life. You think Gillette Mach 3 will cut my wrists?

i dont think anyone here said the world will end, I just stated it is pretty dumb to do something just to show off especially when you're just waiting at a stoplight for the light to turn green.... showoff to the people around you that you're going to be around for what... 5-10 seconds of your life? I don't really see how that is educating anyone either, from an outside looking in, the guy showing off just looks like a jackass blowing smoke around others intentionally. I doubt said vaper is going to tell the guy next to him who he garnered attention to, to pull over in a parking lot so he can educate him about how the clouds hes using to showoff to at a stoplight are harmless and is just water vapor.

and if it wasn't clear before, i dont care if people vape in their car at stoplights. I just think its stupid if a person intentionally tries to blow massive clouds they normally dont blow just to garner attention from bystanders.

:vapor: So I thought I'd share this....

Everyday on my lunch break (really a breakfast break since my shift starts at 5am and break around 10am) I enjoy a nice bowl of oatmeal and an apple. After eating I like to go out to my truck to have a vape while checking emails, FB, IG, forums, ect.
I had a particularly proper build running today and was giving the chevy a nice fogging. windows were up because it was a little chilly and after about 5-10 minutes I honestly couldnt see the steering wheel while sitting in the driver seat

I hopped out and went back to work for about an hour or so. While I was taking my morning inventory I felt a tap on my shoulder and heard a stern voice anounce my full name... a police officer to my suprise!
"Do you mind if I have a talk with you outside sir?" he asked.
"Not a problem officer," I replied a bit worried as I thought perhaps someone had hit my car in the parking lot or maybe someone I knew had gotten hurt or in trouble... Not the case however.
"Is that your truck sir?" he questioned, pointing to my truck with what looked to be a cumulonimbus still lingering on the the interior.
"Yes it is"
"You got anything in there?"
Puzzled I replied "Anything as in...?"
He raised his eyebrow and gave me a stern look. "Anything I should know about?"
I understood. "Oh you mean, like...?"
He stopped me. "well sir we had gotten a phone call earlier from a woman saying that someone might have been sitting in there smoking ....."
 I loled as I handed him my work setup. (an IPV3 and the Hobo v2.1)
"Its a personal vaporizer sir." I stated still laughing quite uncontrollably.
"And what kind is this? What do you put in here?" still implying that it was drug related and possibly a '.... vaporizer'
"Its a box mod, Its for nicotine." I pulled my juice from my pocket and held it up for him to see.
He was so confused. Baffled really. Just then a second officer walked up looking even more stern.
"you know we have a k9 here. You're sure you dont have anything you;re not supposed to? you weren't smoking any .....?"
"Not at all sir. Like I have just explained and showed you, it's a vaporizer. I use it for nicotine. Haven't smoked a cigarette in a year..."
"Oh like a vape pen!?" exclaimed the second officer.
"Yes like a vape pen..."
They apologized for the mistake and walked away.
And Im just standing there, in 2015, wondering why they know what a ..... vaporizer is but not an actual PV? :|

Has anyone had any similar experiences with law enforcement and vaping?

A cop routinely stops by our local shop to visit and chit chat. We had a blast when he let us play with his radar gun one afternoon. His brother does superhero-themed custom box mods. I asked him if the local LEOs were given any kind of debriefing on e-cigs, mods, etc., and he said, yes, they're fully aware of what they are and what they can look like.

He also said if you're not doing anything wrong, you've got no reason to fear. Which is, of course, common sense. They're trained to look for obvious red flags.

I can't speak for all police departments throughout the U.S., but here in Dayton, Ohio, things aren't bad at all. I made eye contact with a cop idling next to me at a red light while vaping and nothing ever came of it.

EDIT: After reading the entirety of this thread, and seeing the tit for tat here, I want to make it clear that I replied to the OP before reading all the replies. Let me emphasize that vaping next to a cop at a red light wasn't a gesture of rebellion or independence, I just so happened to be vaping (on a normal set-up, carto tank and istick), looked over, and noticed that a cop was there. Nothing at all happened.

this is irrelevant, of course I have done things to show off lots of people have, it doesn't make it look less stupid.

Then you have no right to judge other people, for you must first judge your self and your own actions.

And vaping does no harm to anyone. So get off your high horse.

I have every right to judge people. I can think of anyone what I want to think of them. Who are you to tell me I can't think for myself? They are my opinions, and you can judge me based on my opinions, just how I can judge that person at the stoplight. It's a free country. I never said he couldn't look like an idiot if he wanted to blow massive clouds and showoff at a stoplight.

I got pulled over (middle aged lady in a caddy right? *rolly eyes*) when I had my MVP and a Mega.."what do you have there Ma'am?" *lol* right...er..nicotine juice:facepalm:

I think as we see other things legalized in more states and I'm already getting "ejuice" {OTHER STUFF} ads with a free eGo/CE4 in my inbox more and more and the "other" types cloupers for oils/waxes.. that can go on an iStick or the same battery and LOOK like what we're vaping nicotine juice on...there's going to be some confusion for law enforcement. Get used to it.

Word, Ginny. I'm not typically vocal about certain things, but the fact that these can be indistinguishable from those really irks me. It's only going to set everything back, especially now that both industries are sharing the same technical terms and jargon. And I've seen a lot of recent magazine media show up at work geared towards the "e-cig" market, and half of the magazines are advertisements for the other stuff. Man, but does that really piss me off.

Anyone and any industry can buy adds space in any magazine. Adds pay for a good portion of the magazines revenue. Think of TV commercials or facebook adds.
TV stations mainly rely for income on TV adds.

If the OP was just vaping on a break or something just unobtrusively vaping, I see nothing wrong with that. I just think since vaping isnt common knowledge yet that those who do like bringing attention to themselves should tone it down a bit to just try to avoid confrontation with the law/officials/etc. due to the fact that it just may lead to more problems if the said official is not educated in the matter. I've read of a thread where someone had gotten jailed or their gear comfiscated due to a cop thinking he was doing drugs.

never boasted about freedom or told anyone to join communism or bow down to stalin. I dont understand where you're getting all this from out of my opinion that somebody showing off blowing clouds in a public enviroment is not a smart thing to do? Apparently im some kind of satan worshipper for not being on your side of the argument? Here I am being on topic and giving my opinions and all I'm getting from you is personal attacks and words shoved in my mouth. I thought this was a forum? Anyways im out, these discussions just get more childish every day. I see no point in this anymore. peace.
