Yes, please consider a temporary ban SJ; there are strong characters on this forum, with equally strong emotions. These emotions may run riot on occasion but caring about the members of this virtual family are always at it's root. I believe that Kate cares very deeply and would be extremely saddened to see her leave under these circumstance.
She has been a friend to many and an adversary to few. These odds are unkind indeed.

Whatever you do decide SJ, I support your decision, but I do love Kate. She has been a very valuable member here and if she can have a "time-out", I for one would be happy to see her stay. She is an active support for many of us and even though this hasn't been one of her better weeks... I do believe she is doing this out of love for the community.

that being said.. i honestly didn't see any other option for SJ once he threw it out on the table... so i can't be hatin on ya Joe..

I feel the outcome could have been different had cooler heads prevailed.
I throw in my support for a temporary time out. Kate is a highly valued member of this community....t'would be a shame to lose her.
The greater danger is a fracture of this entire community.
Let's hang in there together folks....we need to act as one voice....especially right now.
I'm not taking sides, but I am calling for everyone, regardless of their opinion on this issue, to pull together.

As someone who only recently purchased an e-cig, I was thrilled to find this site, still wish I had found it before my first purchase. I have spent the past week reading here, and found all of the posts by Kate enlightening often answering my questions without me having to dig much deeper. It saddens me to see such childish behavior coming from adults especially after just mentioning to several people that is was so awesome to read a forum with such a large quanitity of highly intelligent people on it. This deterioration is just another example of how the written word is not a great replacement for spoken word if the topic is something that is so emotional to those involved. Miscommunication happens so easily in this type of a setting.
The bright side is now maybe after I find all the answers I am seeking from the forums I will not feel the need to come back too often to just read.

I also support a temporary ban of Kate... she left no choice and I don't think she even cares at this point, but she is a VERY helpful member of this forum, if not the MOST helpful member of this forum, and even if her methods here were wrong, her heart was in the right place. Let her cool down for a while. It won't help Parked to have created a martyr over this issue...

Phew - only just caught up with the goings-on here....
SJ - I respect you and the way you run this forum a great deal and find that your 'hands-off' approach is very refreshing and creates a very unique space to conduct ourselves.
However, you must appreciate Kates value, input and amazing presence as a forum member. Her values and very fair principals (similar to yours) are a driving proactive force behind this forum. Whilst you and the various mods stand back as much as possible, it is partially because of characters like Kate and various others who actually cut out a lot of the BS before the need for moderation.
Now perhaps Kate overstepped the mark this time, but in her (very fair) mind, she was only ever sticking to her values of protecting other forum members. Unfortunately tensions have run far too high over this issue and certain name calling was perhaps inappropriate so I also appreciate the situation you have been put in.
I am as gobsmacked as everyone else over this issue.
For what its worth, my point is that I think permanently banning Kate would leave a massive hole in this community.

I am still not sure what the heck happened. However, Kate was just great. She was always willing to help and answer questions. Being a newb, I appreciate the tremendous amount of time she put in here to share her knowledge. I had been wondering why I hadn't seen much of her recently. At the same time, I appreciate the time and effort Smokey Joe puts into running this thing for us.
We are all in this together. Can't we all just get along?

I agree that Kate should be on a cool down temp ban, because she is one of the most patient and helpful people on this forum. I personally got so much help from her. Just my 2 drops.
All I can say is wow. I had been following this thread from time to time and was surprised how long it was going on. I came back tonight and saw that Kate had been banned. After reading this whole thing I am truly saddened. Like some others, I can see why SJ banned her but am so sad to see Kate go. She reminds me of my sis. When she gets going on something she feels passionate about she will not let it go. I, too, would like to see this ban a temporary one. But then who knows IF she would come back. This forum is so valuable to people, myself included. I quit the analogs a week ago today and am sure I couldn't have done it without the ecig and this forum. Kate was probably the one I admired the most. No matter how many times a question was asked, she answered it without making the newbie feel foolish. Her humor and advice were invaluable. I am so bummed about this. So long, Kate. We'll miss you.
yes i did get banned once.. i think it was for questioning the integrity if the admin..
and remarkably enough the person who has just got banned now was involved that thread.. she accused me of editing my posts to change their meaning..
i happened to say the admin could do this.. so never believe a word of what was written.. cos it could all be altered at any time..
which is very true it can be... and in my case it has been.. but thats all water under the bridge..
kate has a weakness... once she gets the "enemy" in her teeth she just cant let go.. for a long time i was the "enemy"... she never did let go...
but i came back she probably will as well..
forum rule number one.. dont slang off the staff.. or at least if you dont want the inevitable ban.. learn when to shut the f-ck up.. something i have always had a job doing... he he

ps.. i didnt really question the integrity of the staff.. simple pointed out the staff did have the power to alter any post they wanted to.. which i think in a court of law might make a good defence.. prove i did write that might be a bloody hard thing to do..

I know I was very surprised when Parked suddenly opened his business, but just thought maybe I'd missed seeing a mention of it earlier. I have always enjoyed Parked's video reviews, and personally don't feel they are an issue, whether he's selling the same products he's reviewed, or not. I believe it takes more than one 'personal opinion' to cause a 'buying frenzy' around here! Parked has always appeared to be an honest and trustworthy member... and I look forward to being one of his customers eventually.

I teach at a college in NY. Once in a while I pull out the example of "Don Imus calling some bastekball team knappy-headed ho's". We now live in a world where a person is not entitled to make a statement without careful care and consideration without serious penalization (not penile.. penal) and I think everyone has gotten just a little too sensitive. Not ONE of us makes it through a full day without offending someone or using some derogatory term or making a statement that may not be politically correct.
I think part of the issue with the whole situation is that Kate IS such a respected member that her statements hold more weight than most of out statements. I think that weight may have been what concerned SJ and I can understand that. At the same time... I think that stating someone is a "conman" is not the same as saying someone is an "astronaut". Conman is a relative term and people are entitled to their opinions... without punishment. That is what free speech is.
Standing strong by your feelings is not hard when you believe you did not do anything wrong. I think perhaps this was a power issue at the end... and I regret that an agreement could not be easily reached. It does however bring to mind the... "cutting off your nose to spite your face" issue (for BOTH SJ and Kate!). You both need each other. This board would not be what it is without Kate and I think SJ knows that.
