Some years ago I sold cigarettes to a seventeen year old girl who had more tattoos and piercings than the average sideshow freak, stood well over 6 foot and weighed well over 200 lbs with a fake ID...it was a sting and cost me a job and a $500 dollar fine. Cost the store owner a $2500 fine.

I know it is a pain when this happens but if you know the manager it should be a simple matter to clear up later. I would rather see clerks erring on the side of caution rather than sell to underage.

It was cleared up, he ended up quitting. I'm good friends with the people who own the place. We ended up going to a hookah bar/lounge that night. Thank you.
Yes, looks can be deceiving. Things do happen, and I admire the employee for being reluctant in some ways, although..most people can tell a fake ID from a legit one and the fact that he did not go to a higher authority to make sure, is a fail rather than a pro.

To guard donut shops and convenience stores?
Man, you have no idea.. I can bet if you got smacked up the police department would be the first place getting that phone call.
I find it humorous how people down talk on cops but if something happened, you would be running, screaming for help.
Do we like donuts ? Yes sir.. and I don't mind they pay either. :toast:

Leave the poor girl alone. You're acting like a cop.
Acting like a cop? Give me some examples that shows nnote was acting like an officer.

@freshsafari, I'm not the one that turned a thread about a customer service problem into a debate about the misuse of a police force. I'm sure nobody in Utah was murdered while a cop checked out an ID at the local vape shop.
Neither did I, I never stated that she was misusing police force, I posted a video.
Now I respect you for trying to be the "Knight in shining armor".:laugh:

I'm gonna take a guess and say that the video wasn't as funny to you, as it was too me?
He kinda looks like you and he was mad that people were trolling and messing with his "Girlfriend". It was perfect for this discussion:2c:.

I'm taking it that you sir, are indeed a police officer.
Did I misuse the police force? I meant no disrespect in my postings..I'm just ranting.

Yes and No.
Yes, They have the right to refuse service to who and when they want, He was taking the safe side and being new to the job I don't blame him for being cautious towards your ID, something like that can cost him his job and multiple fines.
So in reality there was no reason to call the police department, but you did what you did and this is exactly what I would have said myself..
I called our city police and the response I got from them, "If he doesn't want to sell to you, he doesn't have to. Legal age or not, there's nothing we can do."....apfjakdjfoiwehtaihgskldn!

I do feel like the employee could of handled it a bit better, but stuff happens and everything worked out.

I would actually like to hear it..

The thread has already been derailed enough. You know the rotten crap that your colleagues do. You got ticked off because I made a joke, the most common one in the history of police, about guarding donut shops and convenience stores. If I got so bent everytime someone made a crack about what I do for a living, I'd have put a bullet in my head by now.

Even after the cop came and it was readily apparent that her ID was legit and that the guy was wrong about it? He didnt own the place. He was turning down money from a customer in a store that his employer owns. For what possible legitimate reason? What he should have said was, "sorry, I was wrong" and made a sale for the people that pay his salary. . .thats what he's there for. Thats why the "open" sign is on the door. But that's not what happened. Under those circumstances, he wouldnt need to quit. I'd have canned him.

Honestly, I think the jokes are funny but what I enjoy more than the jokes are my paychecks.

And If you care to share what do you do for a living?

Ok, I see your point, but what happened after the cop checked said "We can't do anything, if they don't wanna sale they don't have to" didn't have anything to do with the cops, if they verified they ID being real then what happened after had to do with the employee, not the cop, the cop can't go in there and make the guy sell anything to a customer he doesn't want to sell too, do you see where i'm going?

Yeah the cop verified the ID but what else can he do to make sure she gets to buy what she wants NOTHING!
Sorry the cop wasted a good 10 minutes and didn't hold a gun to the cashiers face so he would sell some gear.
Doesn't work that way..
