LK,

I agree with the others here that after paying to post this thread you should keep it open. However, I would also explore other possibilities as well and post new lanyards here as well as elsewhere. One thing I have learned is that when beginning, the most difficult thing for someone to do with a business is to get their name out and advertise. Since you are prevented from doing that elsewhere on ECF, you should do your advertising in another venue, but have them available for purchase at both locations. As previously mentioned... January is also a tough month for most people as they are paying credit card bills from Christmas shopping. The last point I would like to bring up, is that the Smoke Stik Forum has some wonderful people, but fewer total numbers of people than other venues, and without advertising it is difficult to get your name out there to where potential customers could see your wares. Have you considered a website (with a link to that site in this thread perhaps as well) and/or selling them on EBay? You could put customer testimonials and pictures of previous work etc. Also, if you had an online catalog of different beads (preferably with pictures) that you can get on a regular basis then a little custom "design your own" section of the webpage might do incredibly well also.

I recommend as others have that you move your primary focus outside of ECF if you are not allowed to advertise here, but that you maintain this thread so that if other people become more aware of it due to "buzz" that they can come here to view your products or to link to your website. The catalog of beads would be really helpful for many people I believe, so that they could feel vested in "choosing" what they would purchase for that special someone in their life.

Take this advice as worth what you are paying for it... after all it is free! However, advertising in as many possible formats and venues as you can (without paying a large amount of money) is what works best for someone beginning a business whether large or small. I am also changing my signature now that I realize you are unable to advertise... unfortunately most of my posts are in this forum where we all already know and love your work! :D

P.S. Do not believe websites are hard... there are many many people out there that can design an adequate website quickly and cheaply for you, and hosting is cheap as well. You could probably find a person that would setup a website for you in trade for a lanyard... quite a few people out there have the skills to do that today! :):2c:

P.P.S. If you could get a friend to make a banner to go along with the text in a sig with examples of your lanyards in the banner that would be a nice addition also for those ECF posters that change their signatures to link here! ;)

All good ideas if I was looking to run a business. But I really am not....all I was hoping to do is recoup some of my money so I could continue to afford to give them away as prizes. I am sure you would be shocked to know how much I have invested in this little venture. Plus....there is a major conflict of interest in me using my position at SmokeStik to launch a private business. If I did decide to try and actually make money doing this I would just do it through SmokeStik and list them on the SmokeStik website. But again....then we are talking about a business arrangment I really want to avoid. Good relationships tend to go bad in a hurry when money is involved. :)

What I am seriously considering doing and actively looking for a way to do it.....so if anyone knows of someone I can contact please let me know.....is to just donate them to a cancer center or some other legit medical org. that promotes the use of ecigs. SmokeStik has a dear friend, Dr. Baron, who is the director of Medicine at one of the UCLA Hospitals in SoCal....I think that is a good place to start.

I think Ripple should have something in his sig about Squirrel Queen Lanyard Shoppe and put "Ripple Approved" He gets around a lot AND then men will also know they can buy them. Not just for women.

Where are you Ripple? =)

And, yes, as soon as I can actually figure out how to, I will add something to mine. I still don't get how I am supposed to add it under my banner. Where exactly do I put it when I look in my settings?

Somehow I don't think he is going to do that.....his mysteriously broke within a couple days and I'm still waiting for him to send anything of it that is left so I can remake it. Something about it breaking in a classroom full of kids and they all got the beads and kept them??? whatever....I guess you just can't get around someones karma.....LOL

There Ripple...now at least you don't have to worry about whether to respond or not. Just trying to spare you the agony of an ackward situation.;)
