ssggts#811...steel plated?

I just took notice after all this time....my gg logo, the by imeo and the 811 engravings are all brass in color....like the color of the endcap when it tarnishes....

However when I look at pictures or videos...everyone elses logos are black....or at least a dark grey....

Imeo did you make any of them steel plated?

Or am I just crazy....if my camera could take a really clear picture id gladly try to show it off.

I know what you are talking about, but I think it is just gunk caught in the engravings or the heat from the engraving changing the color of the metal. You can tell by the threads that it is not plated. If it is, it is the most amazing plate job I've ever seen.

I don't know if the effect is intended by the laser guy or not butas you noted, when direct light hits the markings they appear to be gold in color. At an angle or in flourescent lighting, it appears black. THe SS GGTS is just that, stainless steel with the exception of the top and bottom caps which are brass.

On the first and second releases of the SS GGTS, the Control Ring and the button assembly tube are nickle plated brass. So is the "firing pin"/contact post. But all major components and especially the bottom tube with the laser engraving is stainless steel.

The gold color in the engraving is a side effect of the engraving process itself.

I have no knowledge about plating, would it be even possible to "steel plate" something? I have never heard of that.

btw I like the gold color of the engravings. This fits perfect to the top/bottom caps.

Use autosol and this gold colour will leave Recht. But I would leave it as it is if I was you. I am sure it looks gorgeous there!

The engravings have a goldish tint to them Imeo, it looks really nice.

Yes they have but its almost transparent buddy. I wanted to make a real gold colour but the laser man told me that it cant be done.
