Steeping Times and an Ultrasonic Cleaner Part III

I browsed through this thread last week and bought one of the 2+ liter cleaners on Amazon. I used it today on some MBV juice and some other company's samples I just got, and it did such a wonderful job. I couldn't believe the difference in flavor from pre-steep to post-steep. Problem is, I got the wrong one. Apparently the one mentioned here was the Joy4Less model, and I got the Kendall because it had Prime shipping. The description seemed to indicate it had a 45 minute timer (what it actually said was the heater shuts off automatically after 45 minutes). This one has only an 8-minute timer. :( I ran it through about 6 cycles and it worked great.

My question is - I'm starting to DIY and it seems like I'm going to need to steep freshly-mixed juice for a lot longer. That 8-minute thing will be a real PITA. It would be fine if I spent $20 on the cleaner, but not spending $100.

Will I find it worth it to ship this one back and get the Joy4Less? Would I be just as well off with something much cheaper from somewhere else?

Thanks!

Ship it back, we had one with around a minute timer and it got old REAL quick. Had to put it in the bedroom so we would know when it shut off.... to restart. The wife and I would playfully argue on whos turn it was to get up and re press the buttons. The Bzzzzzzzzzz noise got annoying while watching tv or even reading!

i want ask the power have anythink to time? means if in 50watt uc juice need 3 hour, then in 120watt it will need only 1h-1,3h ?

It's probably not as linear as that.
There would be differences due to PG/VG ratio, nicotine level & flavoring compositions.
The result also might follow a start->completion curve.
Faster steep at start, moderate in middle and slower nearing "completion".

Higher power should steep faster. How much faster would take scientific methods & analysis.

Just my opinion using my 50w level thought processes ;)

More power will steep faster, however I dont know how to quantify that in terms of steeping times as I have never tested it.

Just be careful when you look at power specifications. What you care about is the "transducer power" value. A 50w and a 120w UC might have the exact same 35w ultrasonic transducer in them just different wattage heaters.

Well, with a decent income tax return, I justified it. Like I said, I'm gonna use it for many other things too. I wonder if I have to take my dentures out to clean 'em or, could I just dunk my head in for 15 mins? hmm, have to do some testing.

Kinda like why most woman give up breast feeding because it hurts to much boiling the nipples.

I have been reading, watching and now I too have a GUCE machine on the way. I would like to know if anyone has one of these and can comment as there were no reviews on amazon or the Isonic for this particular model.

http://www.amazon.com/iSonic-P4830-...8&qid=1394052107&sr=8-1&keywords=Isonic+p4830

I hope to have it tomorrow since i had to reroute it on UPS. Since my hometime schedule changed. Sent it to a truck stop and really hoping it does not end up in the ether, out there somewhere.

EDIT to change the link.

Danny's ...135W including the heater...
I think unless we don't buy the one Danny has, we're going to get
a thumbs down on our choices :( LOL
Wasn't impressed with mine...New Ultrasonic Cleaner Timer Heater 1 7 Gallon Free | eBay

Yah, Kinda noticed that theme reading thru the thread. :p the Joy4Less is a rebranded Isonic. The one I purchased is a couple model numbers higher. The square tank Danny has is reportedly better for mixing due to even distribution of the US waves in a square tank. I got this one because the info said the 4810 heater is set on 149 degrees and the one i got has 5 heat settings, two of which should be good for steeping. In addition. Like the cutoff circuit if it feels it is over stressed. Also can fit other things that might benefit from the UC.

I will see how it works out. I am sure it will work fine.
