I dont' know what kinf of flux your using but I use a product called "Orange Crush" when trying to resolder connections on servos or drive boards. It's 100% water soluble.
Since I can't have any residue left behind, I wash the circuit boards off under warm to hot water to be sure it's all gone.

just a thought....

interesting Brock ... I should check manana. Ours really does smell like Pine Tar ... haha brings me back to my baseball days! we should perhaps open up our repertoire of flux's .... Thanks for the suggestion!

The switch does not have a physical stickiness. It depresses smoothly and easily comes back to the up position. It worked fine for the first couple of days, and suddenly began to stay on intermittently. It now stays on all the time, the resistance of the micro-switch is 4.3 ohms in the open, not depressed, position.

I left a ticket at PS and certain it will be replaced soon.
Casey@PS was on the forum and was helping out within minutes.

Great support guys!

:( Mine is now starting to stick. Happend the first time this night. I heard it runing and damn was it hot and the cart was really hot. I hurried up and pulled the cart off to look in the atty cause i was like what the, and i see all this smoke inside it. I was like what the hell its runing! I tapped on the botton a few times and it turned off.

Then the next time i smoked, i noticed it sticking again. I have to tap the button to stop it. It did it 3-4 times in one session. So now i have to hold the Protege to my ear so i can hear if its still runing or not after every hit.

I'm gona see if i can just loosen the adaptor real quick and see if that fixes the prob. If not i'm gona cry hardcore cause i love this baby! I cant see going back to the normal 510 batteries while i wait for it to return. :(

Like the one guy said.. buying 2 would be a good damn idea! hehe. Ya never know.

I can solder though and when the switches become available i'll be picking up a couple.

LOL ... No need to be paranoid lotus. If you can solder, I will be selling extra switches themselves really really cheap. Save's time and money both ways if you can clip and solder a switch. BUT, if worse comes to worse, you can always buy a 2nd protege ... I won't hold it against ya ;) LOL

Very nice TN!!!!! I still don't have that strength (atleast since last weekend) I carry 2 batteries in my change pocket to the shop everyday with one loaded in the chamber!

2 questions on the 'do it yourself' approach that come to mind.

1. Do you have a pic/guide/manual?
2. Warranty voided?

I'd love to have one in the back pocket for the rainy day situation.

How about a purely mechanical switch design?

Yes, perhaps a new, more foolproof design is in order. Especially concerning are those reporting problems after the Protege worked well for a few days.

Ok, call me paranoid, but when will you have spare switches for sale?

Got mine today. Does the light turn green faster if you stare at it a lot?

What uses this design?

Arguments for a mechanical switch:

- no solder/flux/heating/cleaning
- simpler assembly
- durability
- less machining
- stronger structure
- less COST
- fewer REPLACEMENTS
- ...

Looks and sounds like the way to go, but I'm sure Steve chose this switch for a reason.

Steve?

For a week I has vaping away on my protege. I put a new attimizer on today and nothing. Put old attie on an it would not shut off. Damn I have a bad switch. It fried a attie and now my protege does not work. I have let Puresmoke know and need to wait to hear from them. It looks like a solder contact is no longer in contact with the top (attie end) little brass/copper thing. I have no clue on how to solder so I am just SOL until I hear from puresmoke. I hope the wait will not be to long for a new switch. Will I need to send the Protege back or just the switch? will they just send me a switch and let me send to old one back? questions questions so many. I will say that I hate that I will not be able to use my Protege because I love it. I hope my wait will not be to long. Hard not to use what you love.

That's very cool that you're going to be selling switches. Will they be available on the website, or will you just be taking orders personally for them through the forums here?
