I have been dabbling in vaping for a few weeks now. I began with the intention of replacing analogs. I really want to give up those nasty, stinky, cancer sticks. I've purchased a 4081 with manual and auto batts, a Kr8 system, and now an Ego system. I really like the ego, but I cannot give up the analogs. I have spent hours reading through posts on this forum and have read countless posts of people receiving their pv's and never even wanting another analog. Many of these people didn't even intend to give up smoking when they bought their first pv. For some reason I still crave analogs off and on throughout the day. Also, I have numerous juices already - different nic levels, some only pg, some only vg, and some a combination. I can't seem to find a juice I can vape consistently without coughing and having lung discomfort. I try higher nic levels to try to overcome the cravings, but the coughing gets to me, so I go to a low nic level and it feels better for awhile but then starts up again. I ordered 100% VG because I thought that it was the PG that was bothering me. I still have coughing spells if I try to inhale. I have tried holding the vapor in my mouth and then inhaling, but that doesn't seem to help. I vape and then exhale through my nose and that does help, but doesn't really replicate smoking. I have read that some people are very sensitive to PG. I don't know what else to try.

Have you cut down on your smoking at all? How much? Sometimes it takes a while to do if that's your intention, often smokers are addicted to all the other junk they put in cigarettes in addition to the nicotine (probably the maoi's). One thing you can try is some swedish snus (not the american stuff) it's safer than smoking, hasn't caused cancer yet though it's been used in sweden for many many years and will replace the other junk they put in cigarettes.

But first answer:

• how long have you been vaping (3 weeks?),
• what's the highest mg nic you use regularly,
• have you cut down on your smoking at all (how much did you smoke before you started vaping, how much now)?
• How often do you vape (just when you want a smoke? same schedule as you did smoking? all the time?)

My best advice is this:

use 24mg e-liquid if you are still craving (but we don't know what you currently use, so that could change it)
vape as much as you want, vape before you want to smoke, vape often - don't schedule it

Every time you want a cigarette tell yourself you will vape for 10 minutes first and if you still need one you can have it. You have to do it every time though, even if it means you vape 10 minutes on and 10 minutes off -- yeah, it sounds like a lot, but as long as it doesn't make you feel nauseated/cold sweats/headache it's fine -- it'll taper off soon, but to begin with don't hold back and don't tell yourself you can't have a cigarette, that just makes you want one even more.

OH, and the coughing:

• drink more water
take easy, light inhales with some air mixed into it - don't take quick short drags like a cigarette
• you don't technically need to inhale to get the nicotine, just puff it like a pipe when it's too harsh to inhale
• use a lozenge
• do one of those double puffs: suck the vapor into your mouth and exhale it then immediately suck the vapor out of the air

fwiw: It does not sound like you are sensitive to PG IMO. You are inhaling foreign contaminants into your lungs and they are trying to expel it. Sounds funny that you could inhale smoke and not vapor, but that's just how your lungs work. Lungs are used to smoke, not used to vapor.. keep at it, they'll catch up.

If its any consolation most of the nicotine from vaping is absorbed in the mouth. So inhaling isn't neccesary....

Im not sure why your cough persists though. I know my first few vapes of the day are the harshest but my throat becomes less sensitive as the day goes on.

Maybe try an 801/penstyle... the penstyle atomizers have the smoothest, coolest vapor out of anything. They put out lots of vapor but with very little throat hit at all.

Sorry I couldn't be more useful.... but I do hope you.can get off the analogs. Good luck.

For me it just kind of happened.
I would vape 24 mg juice and i loved my Pv so much at the time i would hit it for hours. Then even if i had a craving for an analog and if i would go out and smoke a cigarette it wouldn't be satisfying at all. It also just became more convenient to just chill in my room, listen to dubstep, and vape. Who wants to go out in the cold when you can stay in your cozy house?

Like Rosa said when you get an urge for an analog just vape more, then ever if you decide to go puff on a stogg it wont be satisfying and you will realize you dont need it, because you really dont if you already have all the nicotine in your system.

Best of luck to you man,
Vape hard!!!!

if you want a smoother vape you can use a 901 atty on your kr808, its a cooler vapor and that might help you coughing, also with the coughing as you start to vape your body is trying to get rid of the junk that is in your lungs. coughing, cold sweats, head achs ect are signs of not only withdrawl of the chemicals in analogs but the expelling of the "junk" thats in your body, most of the symptoms will subside once you are able to stay off the analogs for a few day, it is a good idea to drink more water, even while you are vaping and like stated before change up your schedule and allways try to vape for a while before you grab a cig, hope this helps a lil have a good day!-)

Hi Terryd,
I have three models -- I started with a 4081 -- at first I was elated, but then found it less satisfying -- I heard about the 510 here on the forums, and bought that model and found the experience more fulfilling -- then I read a ton of stuff about the 901 -- and it has become my ecig of choice (these days). These models do provide different experiences -- you may have to experiment a little until you find a model that hits that "sweet spot." Hang in there. Also, vaping is not exactly like smoking, but it sure does come closer than any other alternative out there --

When I started with the 4081, I still had cravings, but I refused to pick up a cigarette -- because I was invested in switching. Follow some of the suggestions given here but please don't give up...

Please add me as a friend - I'd love to know how it turns out for you.

What kind of atty are you using on the Ego? You could look for a cooler atty (higher ohms).

With 18mg I am comfortable with 70pg/30vg. 100% PG was very harsh.

With manual batteries, press then 1/2-1 second later start drag slowly... and before drag is done let button up and the finish your drag

Then sometimes I puff the vapor our of my mouth just a bit (like tiny throat-only exhale) then inhale so my nose gets to smell the vapor

Drag slowly, not like a cig

How much nic are you using? Nicotine is very harsh - it is skin irritant.

You could try dripping on a DSE901 atty on the KR8 (or get a DSE901 adapter for the Ego and try dripping on that). it will be a softer vape.

Also try some standard 510 Boge soft-cap cartos on the Ego or a standard 306 atty and 306 carts. I use both of those on my 510 and get a softer cooler vapory hit than my KR8's hit. Still plenty of vapor but softer delivery.
Litecigusa.net is where I got my standard 306 atty and carts (the LR atty would be hotter so try standard). LiteCigUSA.net is out of the Boge soft-cap cartos for 510 but VaporKings.com has them in stock.

I quit cold turkey as soon as I got my V2's (KR808D-1 and cartomizers).

I still craved tobacco cigarettes -- it's pretty deeply ingrained that cigarettes is what makes the cravings go away, so when I got the craving, I wanted a cigarette. However, I didn't have one -- I vaped instead, and the craving went away just as if I'd had a cigarette! It only took a few days for the cravings to be for vapor instead of smoke, and it was NEVER difficult for me -- quite the contrary.

Have you tried just vaping instead? Seriously, feel free to chain vape until you're satisfied -- It's still better than a few tobacco cigarettes a day.

I swear by my KR808D-1. Cartomizers are even easier to use than tobacco cigarettes, no messy liquid, excellent consistent vapor, and still less than half the price of cigarettes.

Wow, how great to wake up and find 10 responses with really great and thoughtful responses to my post. I will sift through it all and try these things out. Before I went to sleep last night I tried some of the cinnamon fireball 24 mg I have and it doesn't seem to be causing any more lung discomfort than the lower nic level juices I have. So, today I guess I need to start a "test" to see if I am having more discomfort with certain brands of juices. I have ordered from a few different vendors in an attempt to see which flavors I like.
I have been vaping almost non-stop since I got home from work last evening. I definitely have cut back on the analogs, so I guess that's a good thing. I am definitely starting to prefer the flavors I vape more than the tobacco I am smoking. The weird thing is that I can be vaping with my right hand and reach for a "smoke" with my left hand at the same time. I guess it is just habit. I'm on my last pack of smokes and when I'm out I'm gonna have to go "cold turkey" and just deal with it. I guess I was hoping vaping would just take away the desire to smoke immediately like it seems to for so many I have read posts from. Was hoping to get lucky, but it's obviously gonna take me a little more effort than that. I have spent a few hundred dollars on this by now, so I'm gonna have to make it work. Not to mention the healthier lifestyle.

Hi Terry, I'm a newbee. When I started early this year it took me about a month to quit analogs. So far I have 7 other people working on quitting analogs also. Some have just started but what I see so far is some take to it quickly and others not so much. Of the 8 total (7 plus me), 2 are analog free. 2 are at about 90%, 2 at 50% and the last 2 are struggling mightily, one of which is not sold on the concept at all. So keep at, everyone is different. The rewards are tremendous! I agree with you that the cost savings just are not there at first but that's beside the point for me at least. I feel a lot better and hope my other people can quit too.....and you! Good luck.

Hmmmmm, maybe we might want to re-think the choice of cinnamon fireball... I know I had this mysterious problem with excessive sweating when I ate. But then I found out that if I didn't eat nuclear buffalo wings, the sweating stopped. Just a hunch...

There is a lot of good info in this thread, hope it helps you. When I started with my FUMA i was not able to lay off the analogs completly. I was able to stop them altogether when I upgraded to the ego but I had already been vaping for a week. My best advice is to stick with it and take it slow. It would be way better to keep smoking a few times a day and vape alot compared to giving up on vaping and just smoking all the time. But keep at it and good luck.
