My favorite words ever in school were LEVATOR ANI.

:D:D

also--sorry, sorry, the topic got off science and into fun words, can't help myself--does LEVATOR ANI (in all caps) sound to anyone else like an invocation ala Harry Potter?

and, this sentence from the wiki on the term:

These muscles are not as strong as their human equivalents, as tail-wagging is less demanding than the support function that the muscles serve in humans.

... made me laugh so hard i'm pretty sure the not-sleeping is killing off my braincells in droves.

g'night (er, whatever) kids.

eta: mary, it's a fun word to know and to say.

I wasn't going to say anything when I read this a few hours ago, but what the heck. I think that Leaford is ABSOLUTELy right in his advice to take some comfort in the Anti-microbial properties of PG. I'm no scientist (yet!) ~ but I was highly impressed with this article from 1942 and I'm STILL trying to find out whatever happened in this study. So I can't gaurantee that vaping PG is of any benefit, but this article leads me to believe it just might be ~ and especially in a case such as this! Anyway, read this article and consider the possibility that the PG vapor MIGHT actually assist in killing those nasty little strep bacteria.

P.S. ~ I haven't found more about the results of study (except some claims that ZigCigs made regarding the autopsies on those monkeys (favorable results) ...but I can't find any VERIFIABLE info as of yet) ~ but I did learn that the man in charge of the study Dr. Oswald Hope Robertson (1886 - 1996) was the man responsible for pioneering the idea of blood banks!

The muscle talk reminds me of tropomyosin which was my favorite word for a long time.

ACK!

I swore I would never discuss proteins, actin, the muscle spindle ever again....that was the WORST year of my life.

I always had a fondness for the word INVAGINATION. Always made me giggle.

Well, ok...I'll bite...

My favorite is sternocleidomastoid....

Actually, it's my least favorite because mine is ALWAYS in spasm...and it is NOT fun.

When I was studying anatomy, I always had my other half just say SCM, as that word could never be uttered in less than 10 minutes...lol.
