Cause she won't do it. I read your post and hers several times before I posted. Perhaps you should go back and read the post carefully. You were attacking things she never said. Defending use of jargon on things never said is well..........

Ignore time.

Wow, you have to know that microbiology is why virology exist, don't you? I mean streph, e-coli, staph, and many others where first introduced through, that's right MicroBiology. All you have done is point out ...I'm still waiting for it... That's exactlly what I was saying. You use your Jargon to say...ummm, nothing that couldn't be said without it. Gram+ and Gram-, wow you are something special. Intelligence is something measured by others, and a few psychological test dear. This is not an attack, just an attempt for you to do some self-reflecting. Please stop trying so hard to make yourself appear smart, and realize who your audience is everyday American people, who may not care for all your( "look at me, I'm smart" )...JARGON... Enough said!

Jelli, I hope you know I love you and most of what you post here, but what you are calling jargon is simply the correct terminology.

Personally, as an anonymous internet poster once said, I think it's sad that we live in a culture where education is equated with elitism, and ignorance signifies authenticity.

Or as Phil Plait says, "If I sound angry, then, yeah, I am. I’m tired of ignorance held up as inspiration, where vicious anti-intellectualism is considered a positive trait, and where uninformed opinion is displayed as fact" (The mainstreaming of crazy | Bad Astronomy | Discover Magazine)

Please understand, I am not calling you or your comments ignorant, i'm just talking about the anti-intellectual overtone in what you said. Using correct terminology isn't meant to obscure the meaning, but to make it more precise. And I don't see dumbing down one's language to fit the lowest education level in the audience as a positive thing.

I find that when someone uses the saying "In layman's terms" to me it is very insulting.

You make an outstanding point there! If someone presumes to offer anything but their best because they've decided you can't "handle it" or are somehow not "qualified", aren't they deciding that you're not their equal, not their peer, "dumb" even?

[I'm not ignoring anyone's responses in here, I'm just trying not to underscore anything and make it look like I'm riding a bandwagon-o'-doom or something. ;) ]

I must say, Adrenalynn, you amaze me. I am glad to hear the technical terms for the things I was curious about, especially because I'm an English major and never really could sit through any type of science class. So I found this informing and beneficial and I am so glad that there is someone on the forum who will look into the technical details to inform the consumers about our new wonderful addictions.

I found I understood everything you said and if not, I looked it up and learned something new. If you do not learn something new every day, you wasted that day. And I agree that by "dumbing down" your language would be an insult, especially because I've seen you around the forum and trust your experiments and data, because you always show your work and explain it so that anyone paying attention would understand.

And I am really amazed at how you handled that situation. I thought it was hilarious and I hope that the next time someone accuses you of "wasting space" or "repeating previous posts", they look back and figure out what exactly their post was doing to benefit the forum. Slander is never pretty, especially when it is shot from the closed minds of the population.

And Leaford...I love you, man. Those were great quotes, and so, so true. It is a pity that the only voice people listen to is an everyday man, rather than the people who spend their time to focus their studies to further the education of the mass. When we turn a deaf ear to their hard work, the population intelligence drops down - has anyone seen Idiocracy? Love that movie.

...smile. :thumb:

Wow, Outlaw is going to wake up in the morning and wonder what the heck happened to his post while he was gone...LOL...

Wow... you are right CM, in that statement except to say "wake up with a sore throat in the morning" I wish it would go away...but that's a whole new topic for argument...I mean discussion.

I sure didn't mean to fire everyone up over this I just wanted to get some good advice...maybe even from a doctor who vaped, which I have seen on the forums before. It's all good though as I love a good debate and it gave me a good read this morning with my vapeless cup of coffee. (the sore throat) I want to thank all of you who offered advice and even info that had me researching further on my own and also thank Steve and those who offered me supplies. That is very nice of you all.

In the end I'm bagging up all of my old carts and dumping them. I still have a sore throat so today if I vape I will vape off of carts I reloaded way before the strep was introduced into the area and throw those away after use. I ordered more carts last nite (Sat Night) so I would guess I should have new ones here by Wednesday if the USPS Gods are good to me. I have about 10 carts of minty flavors I reloaded a couple weeks ago to work off of and a bunch of other flavors carts I can dump and reload with the last of my mint/menthol flavors juice I have to get by if I need to.

I think I may have been safe to keep the carts due to the properties of PG and simply sterilizing the outsides of the carts and caps but in the end it isn't worth the trouble and much safer just to start over from scratch with fresh supply.
Again... Thanks all. As always, you all are great people and always make me feel like family.

Baked - thank you! I'll move further comments to PM so as not to incite or thread-jack any further. I do think my reply was harsher than it needed to be and I regret that a tad in the cold light of morning. Well - as cold as it gets on a NorCal near-Spring morning... ;)

Outlaw - definitely happy with the call you made there. Great direction!

All-and-Sundry - apologies for taking the bait. Mea Culpa. I'll try to be more mature in the future.

& BakedGoodies, i already liked you, but i like you even more now. :D i'm a liberal arts geek, myself, and one thing i love about 'lynn and several other of our sciencey types is that they are willing and happy to explain without eyerolling. looking up something i don't get is fun, and if i still don't get it, it just takes asking for more clarification. i'm not science-smart but that doesn't mean i can't appreciate it (somewhat vicariously, lol). especially when enthusiastic smarties like 'lynn, and joe camel, etc. are willing to provide us with a window into that fascinating world.

my granddad always told me that no matter what anyone else thought, meeting someone smarter, or kinder, or stronger than yourself is a blessing. not something to be upset about or threatened by. we should always be glad that the world can offer us teachers.
