One of my most loved squonker, the lost vape Centaurus, has auto fired on me twice in the last few days. Once when I was holding it and once when I placed it on a table after using it. I’m assuming it’s the fire button that’s sticking from juice dripping into the mod from an occasional overly enthusiastic squonk.

The 1st time it happened I taped off the mod except for the fire button and lightly sprayed a general type lubricant around the fire button. Thought that had fixed the problem but then it happened again. I’m going to give alcohol a shot next.

I’ve done a search because I know this has happened often before but they weren’t terribly helpful. So any ideas or suggestions are welcome.

Thanks sara

99% iso has always been my GoTo for stuff like this, Sara, but I've never had that particular mod. Toothpicks and Q-Tips, and give it a thorough cleaning.

Fingers are crossed for you!

Great suggestion with the toothpicks and Q tips! I’ll give it a go tomorrow and I’ll keep my fingers crossed.

I’ll let you know how it works out. Thanks so much!!

I've used CRC Electronic Cleaner a time or three, in a similar situation.

Thanks. I remember now someone mentioning that product quite awhile ago. I’ll see if I can find it online.

Great stuff! Amazon sells it.

Their silicone spray is also top notch (for anyone ever needing silicone-based lubricants). It keeps my snowblower humming each winter.

Be sure to post your progress and what worked and what doesn't. I have a Pico mod that started auto-firing sometimes but extended fires often (fires for 2-10 seconds after I release the fire button). I haven't tried tackling the issue yet myself.

No way any juice got in it as I use an ego threaded tootle-puffing clearo on it with a 510-to/ego adapter and the little bit of leaking I get from the clearo never even touches the mod's 510 as it gets trapped in the adapter, so I'm thinking, for me, it's just faulty and not fixable with cleaning, but willing to try at some point before I trash it.

I've had a few Picos that have gone to the graveyard too, but they take one HECK of a beating before they die. My wife uses them exclusively and she has a serious "Dropsies" affliction. Most hit the ground double-digit times before they start to give up.

So I ordered the electronic contact cleaner from Amazon that was mentioned previously.

I did use a q tip and alcohol this morning. So far so good but I’m keeping a very close eye on it. And I’ll pull the battery if I go out or go to sleep.

I’ll definitely keep it you updated. And I appreciate the suggestions.

I have a pico that's gotta be 7 years old now and only issue is a degrading screen, but hasn't got any worse in years in the last couple years. It's an older run so the display doesn't have a harness on the ribbon cable. Bummer.

This one that's autofiring has been in use for about 2 years. It's a later run and has a display with a ribbon cable harness. Too bad I can't take it's display and just put it in the 7 year old pico. Bummer #2.

I have 4 Picos with fading screens, only one of them got to where the screen faded so much it's unusable. I picked up some replacement screens but all the ones that have faded were the older type. I've been using the Picos for a long time and that's the only problem so far.

The screen on my first Pico faded so bad it was hard to read and I quit using it. Now I keep my Picos in stealth mode, so the screen doesn't come on every time I push the fire button, and I don't have that problem anymore.

So far this LV Centaurus hasn’t auto fired since sleaning around the 510 connector with isopropyl alcohol as suggested earlier in this thread. I did order the electrical contact cleaner spray from Amazon but I haven’t received it yet.

I still don’t quite trust that it won’t happen again so I take the batteries out of it at night.

I vape in bed when watching tv and often fall asleep with a remote in one hand and a vape mod in the other.

I’m thinking that it wouldn’t be ideal to be awoken by an auto firing vape mod.

It’s very scary when it happens and I’d probably have a heart attack!! So this one sits on a table without a battery in it. As long as I keep it with me or near me during the day then I’ll use it and leave the battery in it.

I know these chips are supposed to cut of firing after ten seconds or so but this one didn’t and another mod I had when I was a noobie didn’t stop firing as well. I thought the battery was venting.

So I don’t put my life and house in the hands of a cheaply made foreign chip.
