AMEN!! And relying on maintenance people to do their job, the pilot is sober, the air traffic controller isn't sleeping, weather, drones...trust me every single items runs through my head weeks before I fly. It's pathetic, but reality for me. 2mg of Xanax and I'm still anxiety ridden.

Same!!!
Well, I WAS the same, until my dentist prescribed me ATIVAN...cuz I get anxious in her chair too.
Sheesh! One little tiny pill, and I'm so mellow that I'll hug the plane!

^You guys are lucky. For some ppl flying is not an option ~ it's the only one if they've to remain in business ;)

Btw, more folks die of car accidents than flying.

BUT...more people walk away from a car crash than a plane crash...and that's what won't get out of my head when I fly along with that STUPID song by Alanis Morissette.."ironic"

Ya, I'm that bad

Well, cars don't disappear either... Remember MH370?

I know, I know!! ..it's irrational, stupid fear tho. After I get off the plane (and before the Xanax finally kicks in) I feel stupid for being so scared. But then, it happens again every time.

Many Bostonians can't find their cars. :)

TOUCHE!

You can put gps in a car. Million Dollar aircraft somehow miss that feature... Boy would the boys at the irs be happy if me and my family disappear... They would inherit everything... Hmm need to make a will.... Don't want those vultures get anything from me....

I remember flying when I was young. What a treat! I absolutely loved flying.

Once I got older I began getting a little anxious during take offs and landings. I remember once coming back to JAX from PIT, It was dark and overcast as we were descending into JAX. We just kept dropping and dropping and dropping. I knew for sure we were going to be touching the tops of the pine trees any second. My heart was pounding! I kept looking for the city lights. Man! How long are we going to keep dropping. Then, all of a sudden, we got below the clouds at about 800-1000 feet and there were all the city lights. Whew!

I'm not terrified or even fearful of flying but I cannot stand doing it anymore. It's so much of a hassle nowadays with TSA, rude passengers and cramped seating (I'm 6'7"). If it would take me 10 hours or less to get some where, I'm driving.

I use to fly a lot and all it took was two back to back HORRIBLE flights, in prop planes no less, over the ocean in lightening/storms (both times..same flight patterns) and that was it for me. There was a curtain for the pilots and some big guy in the first row (think there were a total of like 8 or 10 rows, 2 seats across so you can see and hear everyone) was screaming. That didn't help.

And those dang small seats..I get ya. Oh, wait, I'm 5'3", never mind ;) But yes, for tall people, very bad.

I had a flight in a puddle jumper about 10 years ago and actually remember enjoying it. Especially when we started hitting some turbulence. I rather enjoyed the flight except the part where I had to get on my knees to get into the bathroom.

I used to do a lot of fly-in wilderness fishing in Canada. You never could experience anything more horrifying. Old 1950's bush planes with floats on them. All the dials were missing...the cutouts in the dash panel was the only evidence they ever had any. Levers being held in place with adhesive tape. The pilot showing up on the dock at 6AM in his shorts and sandals smelling of bourbon from the party he came from. Then the flight....the smell of fish guts and garbage supplanted the smell of liquor coming off the pilot. At least it was a more reassuring aroma. Doors that were held closed with bungee straps. Then the clouds. Oh the clouds! They cannot fly in clouds. So they stay under them so they can see the ground. And when the clouds dipped to the ground...they followed pulling up at the last second nearly scraping the treetops. We'd look at each other with white faces as we were tossed around, our eyes telling each other we knew our lives were over.

As I got older and understood the concept of mortality, I quit doing fly-ins.

The only time I was pretty sure I would die in a plane was 13 years ago. I was returning from Mexico (8 hour flight) and a storm formed over Lisbon's airport and as we were descending the whole thing started to vibrate like the airplane would break up. It didn't help seeing the stewardess running in panic and strapping themselves up in first class. When I asked one of them if they shouldn't instead be running into the back of the plane as their chances to survive would be higher there, that woman gave me the coldest look I've ever seen.... Lol.
At one time I felt the wheels hitting the ground and said to my wife "we made it" to which she replied "really? Then why are the lights down there?".... Yeah... We were still in the air... Imagine the turbulence

<-----Guilty. Going off topic bcoz bright, shiny objects always catch my attention and on to the next thought, for the moment. So back on KY4, I do want to snag some colored tanks bcoz they look cool, but do any vendors offer glass versus plexiglass? Spectrum seems to have the best ones but, Just curious.
