Hello all,

Just found a pattern with our battery capacity and joules ;)

Efest 3100mAH (20amp) Ni200 hard wire 5 wraps 0.05 ohms/24j/300f = 29199.8 Joules
Efest 2500mAH (35 amp) Ni200 hard wire 4 wraps 0.06 ohms/24j/300f = 24502.3 Joules
IMR 2200mah ( 20 amp) Ni200 hard wire 4 wraps 0.06 ohms/24j/300f = 22587.2 Joules

I have more to test but do you notice the patern? hehe, call me a sad bar stand but this could be how you see if your battery is good. If you are getting near equal mAh v Joules (1 to 10 I mean), then it would seem all is working fine and dandy. 1 mAH = 10 Joule?

But the Efest 3100 20 amp worked great and seemed to hold on as good as the 35amp version.

Good stuff

I have tempered 28g Ni200 from Stealth vape and there is no way 5 wraps would equal out to 0.5 ohms ... are you talking about kanthal? Plus, 300f seems like a fairly unrealistic vaping temperature

My Bad, I mean 0.06 and 0.05. I will edit it now.

Btw, I am trying to give up smoking dude. No need for the unreslistic crap. I mouth to lung. And if I put the temp any higher I BURN my cotton/wick. Hense the low temp. But it's fine. Small clouds is what I want and lots of taste. I think you cloud chasers are attention seekers anways :)

Cheers

I haven't really paid that much attention to my batteries until today. Brand new 2500 mah Samsung 25R and I only got 17240j out of it. Bought two so I'm checking what the other one shows now and will find out tomorrow. But thinking they're re-wrap right now.

yeah. I just got Samsung 25r too. they take forever to charge at 1 amp and do not last in the sx mini. strange vtc5 fares even worse but vtc4 is outlasting all of them. I thought higher mah would run longer. I am not so stupid to know it is not that simple. maybe not, my 25r are legit. this guy had to sell me a subohmcell and it was the pits. batteries just won't last long at this type of power I guess. out comes the extension tube. I was really not sure if it is safe to use a 20a battery? if I can I am sure then I can get ones that run longer. I have the thing pretty much maxed out so I am sure that is why they do not last me.

I do not think you are supposed to use less than a 25 amp battery in the sx mini. I am just guessing that might be of importance for safety. I saw 20 amp batteries above. I have no idea but I figured id mention it.

Very kind of you my friend. I am not pulling anything like 20 amps but you are indeed right. The good news is our device will warn us if our cell can handle the load or not. But I would still be careful. Try to buy from a good source. I got my cells from Cloud 9 in the UK. They are one of the best out there. And I only use authentic. It's my baseline.

Take care and thanks again

I am new to this tech but very experienced with battery cells.

Not sure I'd run those at max as your probably getting close to reaching its limits. I'm usually pretty low in comparison at about 22.5j around .1Ω

Well with TC you re not suppose to burn cotton? Have you tried lowering the J ?

Anyway I did a hardened Ni200 build everything set up right, did a dry run and the correct message 'dry wick' come up.. So I wick and fill up the tank, vape til empty, expecting the 'dry wick' message to show again.. But to my surprise it does not show and when I fire it actually goes on to glow red and burn the wick..
So my initial thoughts is that it may not work well with hardened Ni200.. Now on regular soft Ni200, will try to update when empty.

I am in the same boat with you as my 25R bought in Jan '15 is getting 17.5K to 18K. I am starting to track it now as I also have 2 more 25Rs bought in Mar. '15 and Apr. '15. I'll update you later.

i am glad you appreciated that. i figured i was saying something dumb. wow, it even warns on the load. i would not rely on that either but this thing never fails to amaze me. i wonder what else it does i do not know about.

danny, do you mean the one with the black face/bezel and the silver shroud/case? if so, wow! i wanted that one very much but nowhere to be had at my time of purchase. if you mean the black shroud and matt silver face those seem to be in a lot of places. either way enjoy it. it is great.

this mod would be absolutely perfect if the shroud had no gaps to the bezel. i have mentioned this many times elsewhere. i really don't know why they are like that. perhaps there is more to it than i know. it would seem simple to have no gaps but maybe it is quite difficult in fact. i got a pretty good example now. i guess it is good enough. i just don't understand why they are like this. this is not cheap Chinese. otherwise this is top of the line.

there is something else very odd. my tank leaked profusely with dna40 devices. squeaky dry with the sx mini m-class. maybe it is even magical.

edit: i mentioned in another thread you can effectively defeat temp control if you just set out to push the limit. if you set it too hot, too much j and powerful+ you can cause it not to work. i am not saying that is what anyone is doing but you have to be reasonable about it. so 25r can't handle this? i am at 540f,45j,p+, .08ohm. i am a cloud chaser in fact and i can't catch them right now there everywhere.

I really have not found the perfect setup yet. Trying the higher loads defo gunks up my coils so not sure it 's the Js or the temp? I have found the setting I posted is giving me the longest vape. But I like it warm and as soon as I dial in a warm vape (2 - 10ml) my coil would gunk. Hense my lower settings.

I have tried every type or wire i could find so far and they all seem to gunk with a warm vape. Anyone using a V4? How are you getting on?

Looking forward to some in depth reviews to come out and some good tips from you guys. Seems we can at least use Joules to test out our cells. We all should start posting to see.

I also have 25R's that I bought a few months back and they are giving me about 18k but my new LG HE2's are getting me about 22k. I have also been using the Sony vtc4 & 5's but haven't clocked them yet but they are much older. I think they may be around 20k or so but just guessing. I will record them the next time I swap them in the SX.

I build only with hardened/temperes tempered ni200.

I never, ever found a similar issue to yours, I can guarantee you there's either something wrong with the build (hot leg, bad connection) or with the attys connection.

I have not seen ni200 glow, not once, I keep vaping my tank dry everyday, no dry hits ever, no charring on the wick, zero.

You also need to wait 10mins before setting up the resistance since both need to be at the same room temp.

Anyway, I'm 100% sure the device is working as it should, something is wrong on your end unfortunately, show some pics or give more details.

That is an interesting observation. I only have one roll of 28ga Round - Alloy Nickel 200, Heat Treatment Annealed (soft) wire and I have not had a dry hit. I wonder if hardened wire would change the calculations that Yihi may be using for their chip.
