1000 feet?????
Some quick math...... 6" to make a coil. 1 new coil per week = 26 feet per year.
1000 feet = 38.5 years worth of coils.

I'd forget about titanium for a while if I was you. By the time you run out of nickel, they'll be vaping with wireless technology. ;)
That's mostly kanthal. 150' of nickel

So my SX mini is giving me trouble today, it's only like a week old and the g-sensor doesn't seem to be working anymore, it won't auto rotate the screen or scroll through the menu anymore by tilting it.

Has anyone had this issue and know of a way to fix it? I'm a little bummed, I really really love this thing but now I'm scared it's going to stop working on me. I've already removed the battery several times as well as turning the device off and back on as well as switching between right-left-auto hoping the auto would eventually start working but it never does. The screen still rotates with the setting so I'm guessing that means it's the G-sensor.

EDIT:

I left the battery out for a longer period of time, started it back up, and now it's working again so hopefully it was just some hiccup and nothing hardware related, I called the shop I got it from and they were awesome and said they'd replace and said to come in Friday, so I guess I'll see if it acts up again by then.

Are you sure you didn't inadvertently set (Sensor Off) in the menu system? That setting doesn't affect screen rotation so the screen would still rotate but the gravity Sensor would be disabled.

As long as the "Sensor ON" is set and you have continued problems, you may want to re-flash it with the current 2.2 firmware.

The auto screen rotation still works with the sensor off.

I believe that's because the setting for the screen rotation is "Display Left", "Display Right", or "Display Auto".

The sensor only addresses the menu selection by "Sensor".

How's the new Boxer? Same as the SXM?

Good idea, I'll see if it acts up again and if so I'll update to the new firmware. I wish I just knew it it was a sign of a potential physical problem with the device or if it's just in the programming, I guess time will tell. Thanks for the quick replies guys, hopefully I won't be reporting any more issues because I have truly fallen in love with the mini. Now I just need to get a cheap TC mod to take out of the house so the sx can stay safe at home.

I think you better check @Bikenstein SX Mini... he customized his by leaving it at home.

Oh I've seen it, I've been drooling over SX minis for ages, it wasn't enough to scare me off but was part of the reason I fear taking it out of the house. ;)

Isn't the paint supposed to be better on the new ones? I checked the authentication on mine and it was produced (or shipped from the factory) on June 16th (at least I think that's what they mean by "factory time" on the authentication results) so I was crossing my fingers the paint would hold up decently, already doing much better than IPV mini paint so at least that's something. :)

As long as you have the 2.2 firmware out of the box, I believe your okay with the paint.

From what I have seen, the spec sheet mentions 0.065 Ohm as a typical resistance for TC (with Ni200). Typical, not optimum. In fact, I see no reason for any "optimum" resistance in the supported range. "Typical" could mean something like "ordinary", e.g. 26g, 7 wraps, 3mm id, which results in a 0.065 Ohm build with Ni200 (and 0.33 Ohm with Ti). I would not interpret too much into this.
That is what I use and shoot for the .065 number. Sometimes I hit it on the head but always very close.

Are you sure about the 2.2 software? I have a new paint SX Mini (2 of them) and they had the 1.4

I received my SXM with 2.2 firmware (2 different units) and I know they were "fresh units". I know that some B&M's have the older stock models with 1.4 firmware that had paint issues. Yihi made the paint changes midstream during the v1.4 firmware. The v2.2 firmware check is easy and definitive, whereas, the v1.4 may have paint issues depending on when it was manufactured. If the paint hasn't come off within a week or two, you should be fine.

Curious to know.. how do you know you have the new paint? Is it the 510 connector changes?

I'm on my second M. had the second one 2 months and the paint is starting to come off again. Never dropped , not a scratch. The paint on the back is starting to feel like alligator skin and flaking off. I love this unit but feeling very disappointed by the finish. The design was as important as the chip for me.
Going to contact my vendor yet again with this problem.

Definitely not encouraging words. Was the first one covered by the warranty for you?

IDK if not having the 2.2 is a sure way of telling if you have a new one. I know that when I got my last one Perry at Varitube asked them to make sure they had the 2.2 loaded already. They did. I double bagged all of mine before they got any damage but that's not saying what they might look like if I ever take the Jwrap off especially the black one. some of the paint had started to come off in the space in the wrap before I put the sleeve on.

v2.2 came out on May 30th. The paint issue was supposed to have been resolved earlier than that. Either Yihie did not resolve the paint issue as it was assumed or Varitube opened your package and updated the firmware. Does that make sense or am I confused here?

Oh I guess I didn't put that right the black one came with 1.4 it was my second one the last one a Silver and Black had the 2.2 and it definately had the new paint with the shiny black on the front and top and bottom. That was my third and last one. Varitube would never pull something like that. I trust them.

Varitube is great. Updating the firmware for you would have been as a service, not to deceive. I trust them too.
As long as the paint is covered under warranty, I'm good.

I'm going to start researching the Boxer. That thing looks like it's built like a beast with no paint issues.
