Well, from what I gather listening to Evolv in the past, they're big on deciding what's best for us. John at Evolv has what appears to be a stereotypical young engineer ego (which progresses to the crippling old engineer ego if not treated). Sometimes they cave on that "knows best" stance, after repeated pummelings by reviewers, or when the competition treats the consumer like somebody who has a brain and offers the feature.

Reverse battery protection: "That's the responsibility of the mod builder"
Buck/Step Down: "What? Oh..."
Logical, linear battery meter "What?"
That's unfair. :)

Programmers do the same thing and I've been taught the same thing. My teacher used to say: always assume the operator is dumb and will screw up at every chance he gets, it's your job to assure he can't.

Kudos to YIHI for giving the operator some slack to adjust some settings.

However, we all know that sooner or later, somebody will misuse that freedom and blame YIHI for the outcome.

How long will it take for someone forget to manually set the base resistance and then complain about burning wicks?

It's deemed to happen. Mark my words ;)

Regards
Tony

I ordered a grey/silver one yesterday from Varitube and it's getting delivered tomorrow. What gauge Ni200 do you guys recommend I get? I'll be using a Billow with dual coils primarily since that's been my daily driver since it was released. I've only used 26 and 28 gauge Kanthal before and I've always hated how hard it was using higher gauge wire. I was thinking about getting 50' of 28 and 30 gauge Ni200 to start out.

I would recommend hardened ni200 28g from Stealthvape.

It's much easier to work with then with the annealed stuff.

I guess you didn't get that memo just a few posts ago that said to keep discussion of patents and intellectual property, etc out of this thread? Can you guys take this sidebar discussion to PM?
It's baiting. Ignore it.

I have noticed on a sx pic posted a while ago that the top fire button has a small pcb of its own. Does anybody know if that pcb's job is only physically holding the button or if it has any kind of secondary circuit on it?

I'm just asking because if one would remove that pcb, I think one could use the board in other types of enclosures?

Any info?

I really like the look of the M class but if it could be just a little smaller... You know... I like tiny mods ;)

Civil discussion, and comparisons are to be expected.. There have been complaints from other members regarding folks from "other camps" coming into device-specific TP threads, and turning the discussion into discourses on patent law, IP theft, ect.. It's not fair to members who only want information / discussion on whatever device they're interested in..

Yep, 28g and 30g ni200 are a great start. Tony's recommendation to get the tempered ni200 from Stealthvape is solid advice too, I too find it easier to work with, the annealed stuff you can find stateside works fine too though.

Vspot Vapes. Bought mine last night (Black/Silver) and it shipped this morning. Excellent service. Will be purchasing from them again.
I got my "S" and my "M" there. Great people. Make you feel special...and if you have reward points or review discounts in the bank they let you burn them on the purchase. My "M" ended up costing me Edited at OP's Request by ECF Moderator

I know I know, I'm gushing like "Mike Vapes" :) I'm so afraid I'm going to drop it or scratch it up with my wedding band.

Two things keep going through my head. "I'm in heaven from Green Mile" and although I ordered it Friday and really only waited over the weekend "it's here it's here it's finally here from one of Rip Trippers videos" lol

I'm really babying mine right now too! Putting it back in the box after dusting it off and pretty much singing it a lullaby before bed

It was a response to HolmanGT asking why other board makers didn't offer certain features like power modes.

For what it is worth "Croak" I don't think either my post or yours was out of bounds. We were just comparing features and expected features. Yes I talked about others but not by name and only comparison of features.

The SXmini kind of walks the dog. when it comes to features and reliability. I think comparing features between brands is one of the main ways to know just what is different between the SX and other products.

While I am not in anyway speaking for Technonut I don't think he will find anything off base about either of our comments. (I hope )

PS - If I wasn't so deep into the Vapor Flask units I would pop for one of the SXminis in a heart beat. If my OCD doesn't have anything else to do today I may pull the trigger on one (if I can find one) anyway. Darn the bank account full speed vaping ahead. or something like that.

Just incase the OCD gets the best of you (lol), last I looked VariTube has the Grey/silver and the Rose/silver in stock. The Grey body part is more like gunmetal. Also they now have the extension tube for 120W vaping with Kanthal.
