Oy!!!!! Your posts are SOOOOOO wrong and once again you are giving people who come here for HELP false information.
Those are NOT the inner diameter of the wraps. That is how the wire is measured! By gauge --which is thickness! Do you know what 0.5mm is? 0.3mm? I would love to see you thread a wick of cotton through that! LOL.
24g = 0.5mm
26g = 0.4mm
28g - 0.32mm (not listed there)
29g = 0.3mm
The coils with metal casings that I've seen still have wicks in the coils. They have an insulator as well as a wrap around them between the wicked coils and the cap. I've rebuilt quite a few of the GS Air coils.
I've been away from the forum for awhile now, but just got a sub ohm tank, a new RTA and a IPV mini 2....getting back into "what's new" mode.
Been eyeballing the sx mini m-class, but have no idea what all this new "nickel" coil business is about. Seems to be some crazy low resistances is about all I know.
If I'm not doing these crazy low nickel wire builds that benefit from the temp control aspect, is the sx m-class "overkill" for me??
I typically use a .4-.5 ohm dual coil kanthal build at around 30-35 watts.
I think both of ya'll are pretty smart dudes so why not drop the deal?![]()
Throw what you know about resistance out the window when dealing with temp protection. If you enjoy a vape at 30-35w and don't mind re-learning how to build with ni200, a temp protection mod is right up you alley... unless you you enjoy dry hits![]()
But....if I never get dry hits (been building a very loooong time) and have no desire (yet) to learn a whole new method, would another mod be a better choice, or is the sx mini m-class still the top dog even for us kanthal builders??

The problem is that dannyben takes it personally when someone asks him to support his "Yihi" claims. If you go back to my question ("Where does YiHi recommend that you don't use the passthrough in this manner? Link please."), all I asked him for was a link to support what he had asserted. Rather than admit it was his personal opinion or provide the reference, he's been on the attack instead. If you look at his other posts on ECF, you'll see his behavior is consistent in this regard. It's not just limited to us.
Really now? So please explain how i could possibly have MORE thanks than posts?!?!?!?
You have no problem admitted mistakes? Just look at you admission. Starts right off saying "but someone else read it that way too" LOL. Do you also say Sorry with the word BUT in the same sentence?
I simply have an issue with you and one other who are the ones who prefer to give misinformation (even DANGEROUS ones no less) without having a single basis of doing so.
You want to say i am posting an opinion when i have said numerous times it comes from YIHI. Will i post the direct quote.....NO. And its not because i am making it up. It is because (and Ive already said I am an attorney) it is both UNETHICAL and ILLEGAL to do so without their permission. For which why should i need to bother. The information was passed on and given to PROTECT people. I have no need to win the "battle".
You two have only provided 2 links. Neither of them said the device even has a pass-though feature, and ONE of them immediately took down any mention of being able to press the fire button while it is plugged in. Why do you think they removed it right after my post here?!!?!? Heck..... i can press the fire button while its plugged in and i'm 3 feet deep in my swimming pool. Does that make it safe? IDK.....yihi has pages up of feature after feature. If the device had pass-though dont you think they would list it as a feature?!?!?
If you didn't want to believe me, you could simply have written an email to yihi and asked them. But instead you elect to go on the attack. Worse, without any knowledge. So again..... since you always need to be right and have the last word, go ahead and do so. Personally, I agree with 2/3's of @Bikenstein post.... "ONE smart dude and you're simply not worth continuing the deal".
You are correct on the BDC coils. You didn't specify BVC coils so I guess I misunderstood you. I rebuild the BDCs to single coils. The insulator is needed to prevent the coil from groundingAspire's Nautilus BVC atomizers have the wicking material wrapped only around the coil and then held in place by the metal casing. It's a well known approach for vertical coil atomizers made by manufacturers. I could be wrong, but the GS air coils look to be a dual horizontal coil design with the wicks through the coils so the airflow goes over the coils instead. The insulator might be there to provide electrical isolation, but hard for me to say unless I had one and took it apart.
I like the Mini better than my Vapor Shark 40 and iStick 50s for regular vaping. I couldn't tell you specifically why other than the added features.But....if I never get dry hits (been building a very loooong time) and have no desire (yet) to learn a whole new method, would another mod be a better choice, or is the sx mini m-class still the top dog even for us kanthal builders??

It would be helpful for SX Mini owners if you would ask YiHi for permission for you to post their reply to you on the subject of vaping while charging via USB or, much better yet, ask them to include that info in their SX Mini FAQ.

On the other hand if the statement is a private statement in an email then I expect that Yihi would very much like to have the information be made public
