Ok, so (a) the whole DIY thing is off-topic, but (b) we've got a bunch of great people here who know a bunch of stuff that is helpful on the topic. I haven't done DIY yet. My largest concern is that I don't want to spend a bunch of $$$ on flavorings only to find I've wasted my time. So how about we start a new thread where we can talk about what is the best and bare minimum setup one needs to do DIY with temperature control? The goal should be what is the best set of flavorings to buy to enable several good recipes along with recommended TC settings.

Basically, what I see as being of great use is the following: a thread that says these are five great recipes, this is how you make them, and this is how you vape them at specific temperatures using the SX Mini (and our condolences if you bought a DNA40). ;)
I love the new thread idea...a while back I started trying DIY ...spent a lot of time making what tasted like toilet sludge and gave up and went back to Goose Juice and Deadly Sin. Some recommendations from guys I trust on how to do it and good mixes would be fantastic. Hope that idea flys!

Sounds good to me I have some sources of some of the best flavors money can buy. It is in Germany. They cannot be gotten in the US except at VZ and the jury is still out on whether they dillute them or not. Let me know if there is a new thread.

People this is so off topic but I just decided to make my own juice. I am on 20 ml a day! That cost more than smoking for me.

So I ordered this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8w9tshhrXak

Anyone know the heat cycle I can use? I am thinking 70c and an hour mix at 300 rpm. I can go to 1500 but that may be bad for ejuice? Anyone used thermal mixing? I would imagine this is how the pro's do it?

Sorry to be so off-topic but you all are too! Thanks for any advice too :)

As a pharmacist who studied some processing of bulk liquids I can tell you that all that is unnecessary just shake the liquid in a half full bottle for 5-10 minutes... We're not looking for homogenous at the microscopic level

I asked my local pharmacist what would be the best way to store & shelf life for my VG nic base

Brown glass bottles filled to the brim in the freezer should see many years was the reply

I pushed further for what is many years & she said something about it will not go off although the % of nicotine will lower but at the mg I have nothing to notice
Yes brown glass bottles filled to the brim... Every time you take out liquid from it, displace the lost liquid with glass marbles that have been thoroughly clean, washed and sterilized in alcohol then dried again

And the expiration date on the bottle is when the unopened bottle will lose 10% of its active strength... So 100mg/ml will be 90mg/ml at that date

All of that is unnecessary. Get some 120ml bottles make 100ml at a time after you have tried a 15ml batch to make sure you like it. If you use ejuicemeup calculator google it and dl. 100ml is very easy if you have 100mg nic and I buy my VG?PG at the rate I like which is 50/50. If you vape at say 10mg you add 10ml of nic good flavors only use 2% so 2ml of that and the rest is PG and VG. Ejuicemeup will figure it out for you and it is free. I let it sit for a week and shake it occasionally and it's ready. It's really not a big deal. First step is DL ejuicemeup. You just plug in the numbers and you are set to go. Handy items are a 1ml, 5ml, 20ml and for me a 60ml syringe for measuring. It's really easy but you need to be careful with the nic at 100mg if you get it on your skin and don't get it washed right off it could be harmful. You can use rubber gloves for that many more ways also but it doesn't have to be complex.

Heespharm,

First you may regret letting me know that you are a Pharmacist (pro bono DIY consulting). That threat out of the way the marble trick is a very clever solution to extending the shelf life of Vaping chemicals. I am going to add that to my must remember post "Tips & Tricks".

Haha yeah I give free advice within reason... Just don't send me pics to diagnose something...

That marble trick is actually from my film developing hobby... It's makes a difference of a chem expiring in couple months or making it lasts years and years...

I hadn't thought of that for our vaping stuff but I've been doing it for years for half used cans of varnish and tung oil. :)

I also buy my nic at MFS already mixed to 50/50

Legs,

MFS is pretty good and I only buy the 125 ml bottles off 50/50 24mg but at $8 dollars they are the cheapest around. The only thing about them that kind of rubs me wrong is their shipping charge. So you have to have a good size order of stuff or wait for them to have one of their sales that includes free shipping. I don't really know the quality of the unflavored nic I am not a chemist so even if I knew the particulars I would know what it meant. I do know that I enjoy vaping their unflavored juice all by itself... sometimes I just get burnt out on all the flavors and use the MFS stuff to reset my taste buds. ;)

Yep that the size I get too but at 100mg which is 17.99 I believe. The shipping is high. I like that size cause it comes in the amber bottles and goes directly in my freezer. With this state trying to do what they are I am going to get a couple more. I only vape at 2mg so I don't use a lot 2ml per 100ml bottle and will have 625ml.

Well if they pass that stupid tax Monday you'll be all set for several years.

2legs I have not yet ventured into the world of DIY but maybe it is time to start visiting those forums here on ECF. I spend a fortune on ejuice these days so maybe the time has come.
If you do want to start with DIY, which is an excellent idea, I'd recommend to get FlavourArt flavorings. They are a little more expensive than TFA (The Flavor Apprentice), CAP (Capella) and LA (LorAnn), the most used brands. But they don't need steeping and the results are guaranteed. DIY it's a whole hobby, and as such, you'll need some time to investigate and try new things; the rewards are amazing once you get the hand of it.

They are very concentrated and only use 2-3%. Some TFA combos use up to 20% but its real cheap. Some even more I've used several of theirs and they are kinda coil gunkers.
FlavourArt is Italian, but they are available at a few US online stores. As you stated, very concentrated and great tobacco flavors. Had used TFA for a long time till I came across a forum of FA recipes, that made me change and never come back to them. 90% of FA recipes are shake and vape, ideal for someone with zero patience like me.
Anyway, if that new thread starts, count me in. Would love to help anyone just starting DIY with tips and recipes.
