device is drawing charge current upon connection to computer. above usb spec. so computer shuts down the port. older computer it may blow the controller on the mainboard. so I connected it to a usb hub that could supply enough power and was able to upgrade. luckily I know more about pc than the yihi rep.

one other warning. the device will drain battery to 3.30v before it shuts off. imo, that is too low for good battery safety.

it's not perfect but it is darn good. v2.0 should be here next week lol.

I'm glad that you finally got your device upgraded.. :) 3.30v is perfectly acceptable (and efficient ;) ).. Just about the same voltage as my ProVari's cut-off... ;)

EDIT: I have batteries that are over 2 years old, and still working well, which proves it. :)

I've been on their waiting list. Just ordered it. Hope I'll like it as much as you do.

Have you noticed a difference in this thread compared to others discussing the currently popular / less expensive Chinese devices? Many of those threads are plagued with issues, work-arounds, poor power regulation, buggy chipsets, etc.. We have little to none of that here so far.. ;) What we do have, is an extremely accurate, well-built device.. :) EVERYTHING works VERY well as designed.. Granted, the device hasn't been available long, but I've been using mine every day / all day since I've had it with absolutely no issues. I'm confident this trend will continue.

YiHi is serious about where their mods are going, and have stated that they will NOT be supplying Chinese wholesalers with the SXmini.. They are even refusing to sell chipsets to the cloners making the Zero Modz SX knockoff, since they have a business relationship with the authentic Zero Modz maker Carlos, supplying him with chipsets. Any clone version of the SXmini which may come around will not be sporting genuine YiHi chipsets from what I gather..

All the choices are making my head spin lol
I like the look of the SX Mini, but agree it will have to deliver especially at that price. If you need lots of watts, its probably the most interesting of the small box mods coming.

Otherwise for the same price the Vaporshark rDNA40 adds coil temperature control and wireless charging.

Or just go way cheaper like the upcoming IPV Mini. It's bigger brother seemed to build a good reputation.

Now that I think about it, isn't it great there's so many good choices around right now.

Oh, I definitely see that. I have a lot of respect for YiHi for what they've done with the SX350. I've been watching that chip for a long time. Then when this came out in a small size with a look along the lines of the ZNA mod, I decided I had to get it. Hopefully, this will turn my Provari into my backup device. I tend to be a one device kind of guy, and I'd been lookign for a good high-wattage mod to retire my mech and take over the daily driver duties from the Provari. I'm totally convinced this will be an outstanding piece of hardware.

Video is rendering right now. It's around 20 minutes. I'll bring some links early tomorrow morning. 1080p and lots of close-up and personal time, but be warned: I AIN'T NO GRIMM GREEN. ;)

The longer I use this device, the more I'm left wondering why people are queuing up to wait 15 days for a Vapor Shark. I'd rather wait 30 days for one of these. This is only the second time in my vaping life that I haven't felt the slightest twinge of buyer's remorse after purchasing something over $100. The first time was my Provari 2.5 last year. This thing is absolutely phenomenal in every way. If I was an ultra high-wattage vaper, I could easily complain about battery life... but I'm not, so I can't. Couple pulls at 42 watts in Powerful mode with a wide-open TOBH and I'm setting this thing down for an hour.

Good deal! :) Thanks for your time and effort in posting the vid.. My upload speed is way too slow to have attempted it myself.

Nice review retrox.. :) The gravity sensor works best when the device is held straight-up.. Not on it's side:

Q: I bought one SXmini device, why the gravity sensor does not work ?

A: Please hold the device straight up and down and tilt to Left or Right.
If you turn it sideways like the menu is( like the direction of the arrow on the display ) it will not work.

Thanks again for the 1st review on the SXmini: :thumb:

Good review retrox! I have an enclosure coming from FastTech and was thinking of doing a DNA 40 mod. Now I wonder if the SX350 Mini chip is available for modders and it's cost vs Evolv. My custom SX350 mod has been great and would like another good mod (don't we all).

When in-stock, the chipset is $82.95 here:

This is truer than you may know, from what I hear most Chinese vape companies are staffed if anything by smokers. Innokin is one of the few where they are actually vapers.

YIHI are vapers as well, and refuse to sell their chipsets to most Chinese manufacturers; with exception of (2) of the much better companies.

This whole lumping of all "The Chinese" together into one category of people around here is beyond childish; it's downright racist. News flash; vaping wasn't brought to market by elitest SoCal modders selling $250 switch tubes, rather it was brought to market by the Shenzhen Chinese; who were the first to mass produce vaping gear for general consumption. This same gear that was 'modded' by people, and morphed into the gear we use today.
