Well, here's my sign...

I suppose I'm going to need two of these things. I typically always roll with at least two regulated mods sporting RTAs. Currently, those mods are the ipv Mini and the SX Mini. Rather than alternating between them to switch up my flavors, I've been switching my Lemos out on the SX Mini. Not a good omen for the ipv Mini. I suspect it will be in the classifieds sooner rather than later.

Too bad I'm trying to save some coin for the three BF RDAs for which I'm wait-listed, the two Peko cases I need to finish my bottomfeeder projects, and who knows what else. I may have to slum it with the ipv Mini until my bonus hits next month and I can snag another SX Mini. *sigh*

I really, really like this mod.

SX Mini has landed. I was expecting a black one and was kind of remorseful that I wasn't getting the gray. Well, turns out I got a gray one! This thing is built superbly. Vapes amazingly and looks awesome. The only flaw I can find on mine is a small blem on the back cover near the bottom seam. It's almost imperceptible. I think I can live with it. 510 threads are probably the nicest of any device I've owned and it feels great in the hand. Fire button is sublime and the display is sharp and bright. I really, really like this thing.

I'm also reasonably sure I need another one now.

Mine is on the truck for delivery today as well. The sad part is I can't use it for a few days since I've had the stomach flu for the past couple of days and vaping has been making the nausea worse. I can barely eat or drink...maybe I'll try vaping some flavorless ejuice I have.

I suppose its good I didn't see that deal last night. I would've bought another and I can't afford to
I had it, and a Subtank in my cart, for under 200.00..... and didn't pull the trigger, didn't know it was a one day site sale. Guess I didn't need a second either :)

Will both flat top and button top batts work for the mini?

Definitely. It requires high drain batteries, though (the specific recommendation is 30 amp batteries, so Sony VTCs, but since those don't really exist anymore, most people are using Samsung 25Rs and LG He2s).

i have been using my vtc's- i have it on good authority from a vendor i trust that sony is still making the vtc5 regardless of what you read in a letter from a former employee. i believe them and all the batteries i have purchased from them are as advertised. so quit thinking there aren't any more- it is just not true....

Can you provide a link to your vendor? I'd like to pick up some of those to augment my 25Rs, He2s, and Efest Purples.

Yes they're still made and not sold to the public, most likely because Sony doesn't want them used for vaping. For this reason I'm not going to bother with them, Samsung 25R or LG HE2 for me.

I don't understand why folks still recommend them when they're hard to find for the average person.

Agreed, the Samsung's and LG are working great and at a better price. But if you really need the VTC4's Illumn.com has them in stock.

Hooray for vapemail!

My first mistake was treating the Subtank like "just another tank" and putting 50/50 12mg in it. Ouch. Need to mix up some 6mg high VG tonight. It actually doesn't look nearly as hideous as I thought it would on the mini! Absolutely a beast of an RTA. Got quite a bit of "factory" taste from the .5 head to start, but she's breaking in nicely at 32W Soft. Still need to scrub the Lemo out, but I've already picked out a drip tip for her at least. :)

Thanks,
I normally stay 40 watts or below also.
I think to be safe I will just change my batteries if needed instead of charging onboard. Or carry another mod, so I can charge the SXMini while it is "resting".

I try not to vape my baby while charging, if I do its like a sporadic toot here and there, usually when I am nosing around the net and not paying attention to what I am doing  I decided that I want another one  But ... I .. don't need it

Did everyone see the new post in the General discussion?

Apparently, YiHi has just acknowledged that all units that have been shipped so far are ALL defective. That the adjustable pin of the 510 is actually soldered in to the unit and adjusting it will cause the 510 to snap. While most of us will never have a need to adjust this, what troubles me about the post is that they claim YiHi refuses to honor their warranty on this. Which as the OP posted is quite troubling for such a high-end expensive device and what-if something more serious goes wrong. Sounds like you will basically be buying this unit and cross your fingers that nothing ever goes wrong.

Wha?? The 510 pin is spring loaded, not adjustable .. so there is no need to adjust it. :glare: I have not seen this thread, but err it already sounds "off". Perhaps what Yihi is saying is that because it is a spring loaded pin, and NOT to be adjusted (screwed/unscrewed) that if you do in fact try to unscrew the pin they will not honor the warranty. Which sounds valid to me if someone is messing with something that was not intended to be messed with ... Sigh .. I will try to find that thread in a bit.

Which is correct about the VTC5 ! I know a, trust-able & reliable vendor over-here and he is getting them in, around February I will keep you informed.

I get to join the sx mini club

Only has it up and running for about a hour, but I am loving the mini, solid device and feels really good in the hand. I am vaping at my normal 25watts and it is vaping so much better than my other mods.

I am normally a cheap mod buyer, but Nikki turned me onto this mod, and been following this thread for a little while, and can agree with everyone in here, it is very much worth the money.

The link has been removed as it was in the general discussion. But what it said, and first I agree..... there is no need 99.5% of the time to ever have to adjust the center pin as its spring loaded, but.....

The user did adjust the pin. It does have a screw slot there for adjustment. That YiHi themselves acknowledged this and have already started production on a new version that will have a new pin without the screw. They have stopped shipping the old version (but obviously all inventory as of now at dealers is the old version) and will start up shipping the newer version soon.

Furthermore, they have refused to honor his warranty claiming it is user error. The same way as if he opened the device it would void the warranty, by him adjusting the "adjustable spring loaded pin" he too voided his warranty.

YiHi did solder in the Pin and it will snap. Those are the facts and i've since confirmed this with a dealer.

This is basically what I thought was going on in from your first post however, just because the pin has a slot in it, that does not mean that its for the purpose of adjusting it. Most especially since it is a known spring loaded pin design. I have never heard of a spring loaded pin that was meant to be further adjusted.

While I feel for the person this happened to (sucks) I am inclined to agree with Yihi on this one. There was no reason for the user to believe that the spring loaded pin could be further adjusted. So technically Yihi is right, that is a user error. However, it would have been nice if they would have simply honored the warranty with a public noitce/warning to not do that. The 510 pin shouldn't cost much to replace/fix, and it would be better for public relations for them to honor the warranty for this minor mishap ...
