I got the Kapton tape in various sizes and awaiting the T1 wires by Friday.
Quick question @mikepetro & @Punk In Drublic
Single wires vs clapton and other complicated wires,
Why would you choose clapton and other various wires over single wire?
does clapton and alike retain e-liquid better or what's the theory behind it?
Currently I just got prebuilt SS316L Fused Clapton in 1ohm and 1.5ohm,
I also have an SS316L juggernaut spool sitting around.
I am trying the SS316 Fused Clapton 1ohm and the taste lets say seems more "complicated"?
I am noticing some gurgling not from over-flooding the build deck but rather gurgling
from the coil itself when I fire to take a draw. Also noticed less "spitting" of liquid.
I just can't make sense out of what I am experiencing with it.
a detailed explanation of the theory behind them would be appreciated.
I do not know the true objective behind developing a Clapton coil. But I look at it as a way of manipulating surface area while maintaining resistance and mass. I say resistance because back in late 2013 early 2014 many were still using a voltage source and to achieve any kind of high(ish) wattage vaping you required a mech. With todays variable wattage devices resistance has less of an importance.
The person behind the Clapton coil was an ECF member – his first post on the Clapton he stated this is a 0.5 ohm coil that vapes like a 0.2 ohm dual coil.
From then, the Clapton evolved into its many different forms, some of which are useful, some of which are coil art and do not vape very well but make impressive Instagram pictures!!
I do not know if I buy into the whole “retains liquid” theory. Way too many variables to say that is a fact. I do believe the different wires used does create a more unique way of the coil heating up and I am of belief that creates a different flavour profile. Whether someone enjoys that profile or not is up to that individual.
I have compared simple coil builds with various Clapton type coils and even mesh, which also has it’s unique characteristics – they all provide a different vape experience.
It is all about finding your own preferred balance between surface area and mass, and if using a voltage source, resistance can be included as well.
