Hey you guys, looks like a busy morning...took me hours to catch up on the forum gossip...and "the man" is looking over my shoulder trying to get some work outta me. Then my brother called to tell me his sad story of poultry woe. Apparently he thought it would be fun to add a turkey to his backyard chicken farm. I guess he didn't realize how BIG turkeys get. He couldn't control it and it would attack him everytime he left the house.
Luckily 3 women down the street, who were immigrant farmers and know a thing or two about fowl, came & knocked on his door and offered to "take care of it" for him. They did, and he's now enjoying a turkey sandwich. They didn't speak English, but were able to negotiate a deal with him - I think they got to keep half of the meat...and he got the fun of watching them wrangle the giant bird.
So, TT, just be glad that chicken isn't 6 feet tall!

OK, I'm back to work! All of you have a good Wed. and stay cool!

Techno,

Are you saying your brother's turkey was 6 foot tall? Cause, even for those Texas types, that sounds awfully big...

Well, my brother is 6 feet tall, and he said that the turkey's head was at his chest, so probably closer to 4 or 5 feet when it straightened up and pecked at him! Although, admittedly, being terrorized by a giant bird might have caused him to exaggerate a little bit I'm sure!
His story reminded me of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0pJkjpvoujY

Need some ideas everyone. My BFF has asked to sing at graduation for the school where she teaches. She wants me to sing something inspirational. Suggestions please?

It's probably cliche...but someone sang "climb every mountain" at the last graduation I went to, and it was amazing!

Good song from a good movie. Not sure that's in my range, though. Years of smoking have taken its toll on my voice.

One of the things I like so much about you is your modesty and how humble you are.

Well thank you allsonew! I do try very hard to set a good example on here for everyone on here and try to help them attain higher levels of humidity.

I should have been a preacher. Humm, I wonder if its too late? And I could pass that plate every week! I need to give this some deep thought.

Okay, so after reading what techno wrote about her brother, I went up to town and there's some people living up there that don't speak English real good ... I think their Frenchmen or something ... and I tried to explain to them about this crazed chicken using my high school French that I never learned much of. But they liked the idea of a three-legged chicken because that way each one would get a drum stick.

One thing that bothered me was they kept saying something about turquía and pavo. I didn't know what they were talking about.

So when I figured we had an agreement I came back home and hid with the doors shut. Then after a while here came these three ladies and they started chasing that crazy chicken all over the place. To the chickens credit I have to admit she made a great attempt at flying away but three ladies were just too much for it and it succumbed to having its neck wrung. Heh, heh, I was happy.

Now anyone who knows me will tell you that I'm an advocate for animals but this monster chicken was uncontrollable and was reducing me to a withered, sniveling, nervous, fearful wreck and something had to be done about it. And now it was done. It was over.

One of the ladies cheerfully waved the chicken over her head and they got in their pick up truck and left.

And that was that. It was done!

I went out in the yard and laid down on the plaid couch out there by the boat and thankfully closed my eyes for my afternoon nap.

Then I heard it.

Softly at first ...

Then I could feel it breathing on me.

I didn't want to, but I slowly opened my eyes and there standing over me was the daggonest biggest danged turkey you've ever seen in your life!! This thing was a good five feet tall - if not more ... and it had a wild, mean look in its crazy eyes! This monster had claws bigger than my belly.

Now I know what had happened to techno's brothers turkey and it dawned on me what turquía and pavo meant. Those women were trying to tell me they would trade me a turkey for the chicken!!! OMG!!!

This giant bird attacked me and just tore me up. I ran for the barn ... it followed and attacked again. I ran for the shed ... it followed and attacked again. I ran for the house and it got me again. And in the process it tore up the barn, the shed and the house.

Right now I'm sitting out in the outhouse writing this trying to figure out what to do.

Anybody have any ideas?

Hey TT! I have 5 tabs open and cannot remember where you posted about those tanks. Do you like them?
Ever see the movie "In God We Trust"? I think Marty Feldman was in it. (80's)

Uummm, in the Chit Chat Thread I think ...

And I don't think I've seen that movie. I spent so much of my life overseas and seldom had time to sit and watch a movie ... I've missed a LOT of them.
