Ah, but what about when buying second hand from the Classifieds?

Not implying anything from anyone I've purchased from.
Honestly.
I'm worried about future purchases.

I didn't even think, until today, that there would be BBox clones...at least not ones as good the pictures I've seen!
I know most cloners typically use authentic products to advertise though...

There are a lot of clones out there.. You should be able to tell rather easily by holding and using it.. It will become obvious in the quality of the device..

Pre-purchase? Don't know how you'd tell from photos.. If it's a 3a you will be a-ok.. I do not think a rev 3a clones were ever made. I think most of the clones are either rev 2's or rev 3's (non a)..

Other than that, I don't know how else to tell... I think some are exact 1:1 clones but it's also my understanding that on the rev 3 clones, the carbon fiber will be different on the clones.

The rev 3a I sent you was purchased by me and it's a December, 2015 made by BB legit Billet Box.. You can use it to compare to others but the problem there is that you'd need the others in hand to do the comparison..

To be perfectly honest - although the people in the classifieds are vetted by ECF - ya can never be to sure until you get the item. AND - Then there still might be a question or 2, however there are recourse's to help Ya' if "You" have been duped into purchasing a clone or none functioning item . . . Especially the ECF & "PayPoop" resources available to you to rectify the situation. . . Thankfully - I have never had a problem as a seller or buyer (and I usually pay using a MO if the seller will except it as payment instead of "PayPoop") . . . Just Sayin' . . . ;)

Everything is cloned these days! Heck I saw someone selling a Billet Bridge clone a while back.. LOL I mean really? They are only $34 for a legit one..

The cloners are getting better and better at it too... The 1:1 clones are hard to tell other than it will probably quit working in a week or so,... Best bet is to only buy used stuff from a reputable seller. I don't think there is a rev 4 clone yet but I bet they are coming soon..

Yeah the one that just came home, from you, is just WOW.
It makes my Rev-3a 2014 look dull.
No, literally. The finish on the mint condition one you sent me is shinier than the one on my 2014...

I'm sure the 2013 Rev 2 is good.

Yeah I did assume a level of risk when buying from the Classies...(except from Raqball).
I feel pretty safe about what I got, in regards to my other two.
The dull finish on the 2014 is probably just a sign of its love.
Or they slightly changed something in the production process.

You can always get ahold of DD if in doubt.. If anyone can spot a clone it would be him...

Don't know about the finish or anodizing changing between batches but I assume there will be some minor differences in how it's applied and in the level of the anodization.. Mine was hardly ever used and never left the house.. I think I only put 7 or 8 tanks of juice through it so it had very minor handling.

When using it to compare to others, I'd say the keys things to look for are build quality. I also think I read somewhere a while back that the BB plate (where the voltage dial is) was a lighter color on the clones. Not 100% sure about that though,,

I asked one guy to produce his receipt. He did (which I recognized), but yes, I'd be careful...

And they did clone the "a" ones too. :-(

@Krisma is a bit of an expert. She knows things.

Not surprising they cloned the 3a as they clone everything! I better not get started on clones because the last time I did, it turned rather ugly.. I can't stand cloners! They take the hard work of others and make a quick buck off it. Also, who would buy one? Why waste $80 (or whatever they sell for) for a pile of garbage that will last a month if you are lucky? Save up and buy legit!

Ok, I am off my clone rant now and I better exit stage left before I upset someone who buys them...

I'll buy some stuff cloned, but cloned mods have not worked out for me. And NEVER a cloned BB.

I've seen, or read about at least, plenty of people who buy a clone and the mod is dead in a few weeks. Then they go buy another clone... Rinse, lather, rinse and repeat.. By the time they are done they could have just purchased legit and it would have lasted longer than 8 clones would have. And in the end, they probably spent more buying the clones that die quickly anyways.. I don't get it, but to each their own I suppose..

I guess some stuff maybe.. Mods? No! Batteries? Heck no! Coils? Maybe okay if they last.. I dunno.. I better get off the topic as like I said the last time I got involved in the clone discussion it ended poorly.. LOL

Off to ride my bike now... :D

I own 10 Authentics but I get clones for the cases so that I can have different colours and play with panels and my modding ideas without destroying the family.

We have a thread where I listed out the differences for someone (I will try and find)
Billet Box and BB Clone since this thread I have other differences. The screws are different metric vs imperial. The chips are different colours. Genuine is blue clone is green.

There are a lot of differences...... The easiest to spot is on the door. The place with the semi dip for the ball is shiny or no colour on the genuine but flat colour on the clone. This is an authentic.

That's where I'm at and for the 20%vg I use coconut oil.
you use coconut oil instead of VG?? I hope I misunderstood. Vaping oil is supposed to be really bad for ya. VG breaks the glycerin away from the fatty acids so it can be absorbed by water. Or so I read. lol

I wondered about that too. Does anyone know any more about this subject?

I have been using one of the billet Bridge Racer for a few days now, I found that the space between the screws on the build deck is identical to that of a KFL+, I actually took a coil off one of them and put it on this. So far I am liking this better than any rebuildable that I have tried with the BB yet. Right now I have to say that the flavor is not quite as good as a BVC, I have been spoiled by the flavor of those, but it is still very good. Maybe if I could put a vertical coil in one it might improve it even more. I have found out recently that I am terrible at building vertical coils. I would highly recommend this, I have had no leaks what so ever, or any other problems with it. :)

I am deathly allergic to vg and although I used some to find that out and I've never had one problem using 100 % food grade coconut oil. The flavor is also better. As far as VG goes I believe it belongs in the toilet. A couple puffs and I have the worst headaches from it. I know a lot of people that use coconut oil instead of vg.

So the clear rev 3a I scored is on a tour of the country it appears.

It arrived in LA on Thursday (was scheduled for delivery on Friday), then left LA and went to Portland, OR. It left Portland on Friday night and today it arrived in Kansas City, MO...

SMH! Really USPS?
