Rat Black
So, I’ve kept away from the thread, because my frustration with the postal services and customs was driving me
nutz. I mean, how
@#$% hard is it to do this…..

?
<deep breath> Anyhoo, my Rat Black is in my clammy little mitts. It's
HERE

I’ve loaded it up with an unflavored 60/40 pg/vg @ 6mg nic mix, on a 2.2 (reading 2.1 in the DNA) Boge carto. I slapped a black drip tip (aluminum, i think) that I got from Pink Mule—fits perfectly, no hassle.
For power I’m running a LG HG2 18650, so I’m fully loaded and ready for bear.
So, the formalities are out of the way. What do I think?
Build quality & ergonomics: Man, DD just hit that one out of the park with this concept. This is just beautiful, it really is. The attention to detail is astonishing, down to the level where the polarity of the magnets are arranged so that you just can’t put the doors in wrong. I’ve been taking it out of the pocket just to fondle the darn thing. The convex curvature of the G10 scallops make the device seem smaller than it is, even though it adds depth, while at the same time makes it grippier.
And the G10, oh my. All my favorite knives use G10, and they’re well-nigh indestructible. I will
never have anything else. Inspired choice DD!
I’ve never had a DNA-40 device, but it seems to do what’s needed. We’ll see when I run the battery down, but given the reviews I’ve read/seen elsewhere, I don’t expect anything negative.
So, are there any negatives? Well, like others have said, I just don’t like the sliding glass on the tank. I was scared spitless in case I broke the glass (like others have done), so I was extra careful. I don’t think I’ll ever be comfortable using that method, so I’ll probably use the tried and true “insert slapper, press carto down, fill tank, push carto back up” method. We’ll see.
Other than that I have nothing. Oh year, I forgot. The position of the firing button. I’m used to the Reo way of doing things (with the firing button on top), as well as a side mounted button (on the narrow side), so I was a bit skeptical about the position. I needn’t have worried. With the right hand I use the thumb, and with the left my index finger. It came naturally and after five minutes I don’t think about it at all.
Just in case I haven’t made it clear: I LOVE THIS DEVICE

Many, many, many thanks, DD, for creating something so perfectly utilitarian that it’s beautiful. You’ve cut all the cruft away in a rinse, lather, repeat cycle, so that all that’s left is pure form out of function.
Kudos
Obligatory pics (haven't done this before, so bear with me):
