So the clear rev 3a I scored is on a tour of the country it appears.

It arrived in LA on Thursday (was scheduled for delivery on Friday), then left LA and went to Portland, OR. It left Portland on Friday night and today it arrived in Kansas City, MO...

SMH! Really USPS?

Oh boy. Now it's going to hang in KC for some great BBQ & jazz.

It'll get to you, Raq. Maybe a bit drunk, but still...

In further testimony to the beastliness of the Rev 3's, my stepdaughter (known for her mod-abuse) sent hers flying onto concrete. I'd say it was the first time, but it was not (even close).

TOTALLY ripped up her custom Ohman tip, but the BB? Dusted it off, and fired away.

Amazing, the 3's are. Absolutely amazing.

I got this via text (because millennials NEVER actually CALL people), with the header:
"We've had a death in the family."

I am deathly allergic to vg and although I used some to find that out and I've never had one problem using 100 % food grade coconut oil. The flavor is also better. As far as VG goes I believe it belongs in the toilet. A couple puffs and I have the worst headaches from it. I know a lot of people that use coconut oil instead of vg.
huh. well that's interesting. Glad you found something you can use besides VG

No need. I've come to know the girl over the course of...30'ish years.

Accidents do happen (with all due respect to Elvis Costello).

I think I am jinxed! It's been one of those weeks.. Today I went through 3 tubes before my bike ride even started! Went to get bike ready to roll for todays ride and flat tire! Changed it out and tube # 2 must have been defective as well because it lost air instantly. Plopped tube # 3 in and the same problem, flat almost instantly! I think I got a bad batch.. Tube # 4 held air for a while then went flat at mile 22 of my ride... Oy vey..

Anybody have a source for a decent case for the Rev 3a? Would kinda like to have something I can clip to my belt to hold it, instead of dropping in a pocket (although it fit remarkably well in the leg pocket of a pair of carpenter jeans)...

Rat Black
So, I’ve kept away from the thread, because my frustration with the postal services and customs was driving me nutz. I mean, how @#$% hard is it to do this…..:-x?

<deep breath> Anyhoo, my Rat Black is in my clammy little mitts. It's HERE
:banana::banana::banana::rickroll::rickroll::rickroll:

I’ve loaded it up with an unflavored 60/40 pg/vg @ 6mg nic mix, on a 2.2 (reading 2.1 in the DNA) Boge carto. I slapped a black drip tip (aluminum, i think) that I got from Pink Mule—fits perfectly, no hassle.

For power I’m running a LG HG2 18650, so I’m fully loaded and ready for bear.

So, the formalities are out of the way. What do I think?

Build quality & ergonomics: Man, DD just hit that one out of the park with this concept. This is just beautiful, it really is. The attention to detail is astonishing, down to the level where the polarity of the magnets are arranged so that you just can’t put the doors in wrong. I’ve been taking it out of the pocket just to fondle the darn thing. The convex curvature of the G10 scallops make the device seem smaller than it is, even though it adds depth, while at the same time makes it grippier.

And the G10, oh my. All my favorite knives use G10, and they’re well-nigh indestructible. I will never have anything else. Inspired choice DD!

I’ve never had a DNA-40 device, but it seems to do what’s needed. We’ll see when I run the battery down, but given the reviews I’ve read/seen elsewhere, I don’t expect anything negative.

So, are there any negatives? Well, like others have said, I just don’t like the sliding glass on the tank. I was scared spitless in case I broke the glass (like others have done), so I was extra careful. I don’t think I’ll ever be comfortable using that method, so I’ll probably use the tried and true “insert slapper, press carto down, fill tank, push carto back up” method. We’ll see.

Other than that I have nothing. Oh year, I forgot. The position of the firing button. I’m used to the Reo way of doing things (with the firing button on top), as well as a side mounted button (on the narrow side), so I was a bit skeptical about the position. I needn’t have worried. With the right hand I use the thumb, and with the left my index finger. It came naturally and after five minutes I don’t think about it at all.

Just in case I haven’t made it clear: I LOVE THIS DEVICE :hubba:

Many, many, many thanks, DD, for creating something so perfectly utilitarian that it’s beautiful. You’ve cut all the cruft away in a rinse, lather, repeat cycle, so that all that’s left is pure form out of function.

Kudos

Obligatory pics (haven't done this before, so bear with me):

I have one, I have had it for a few months, wish I had got it a few years ago. I bought the black one.

How special the first one is. Congrats and I am dancing for you.
Thanks . I know all about the "first one" effect. How right you are :), the phrase "There can be only one" refers to the model, not the item.

Oy veh, and I thought that vaping would save me money . Ah well, it's great fun.
