I've been trying for 40-plus years, Krisma. Don't bother. A system based on the number 10 is WAY too complicated for us. We prefer to think in things like, "5,280 feet equals one mile."

Ours is MUCH simpler, don't you think?

Our problem is that we teach everything based on the concepts of "Conversion." It's why we failed Metric, and why many are challenged to pickup other languages. Conversions are useless but our educational system hasn't grasped that FACT yet. We still think it's the only way to teach stuff .

Who CARES how many liters are in a gallon? IT'S ... IRRELEVANT!!!!

Actually, that is a very real point in my book as well. Stop converting and just *use* the new system. Til one thinks in metric or celsius, it's not gonna happen. Thirty-odd years ago I was told in grade-school that metric was the future and we would all be soon using it... today my gas pumps are in gallons, temp is in F, speed is in miles-per-hour, and the *only* way I 'think' in metric is my tools for car and recumbent trike, a 10mm socket, a 4mm allen-wrench, etc...

Yeah, I was joking right along with you....but you're right, probably shouldn't. I don't think about that too much. I am a very large person, but don't have image issues. I is what I is, if ya don't like, don't look. So I don't always think about others who could be offended. Thanks for the reminder.

I was never really a large person but when I got sick I lost 40 lbs. Hopefully I can keep it off I like where I am now.

Glad there is one decent thing about what you're having to go through. Just hope you don't lose more than you want. Have a friend on another thread going through that now.

Yeah that's the problem once you start losing it you can't stop. 40 lbs in 4 months, but for now I've stopped and just kept the same weight for the last month or so.
I go on Monday to my oncologist for a check up and a IV of Zometa for my back so we'll see. It's always scary every month because I'm always worried the cancer will come back.
