OK, so I've been trying some new stuff. I have mainly been using 801 style attys for the year+ that I've been vaping. I recently thought I'd give the cartomizers a try since many seem to like them.
I started with one of the 801 mega's from Nhaler. I'm not really impressed. Granted, it has a 801 connection, but it is actually closer to 510 size tube on it, so it doesn't really hold a whole lot of liquid compared to the cartridge on an 801. Flavor seemed muted, but vapor production seemed OK, throat hit was fairly poor.
Next was an 808 mega from Ikenvape. There seems to be plenty of people that really like these. I was even less impressed with these than the 801 mega. Flavor was quite low, throat hit was very little, vapor production was again pretty OK.
Next was Clearomizer XL from GotVapes. This was actually pretty decent all the way around. Flavor was pretty good, throat hit was decent, vapor was good. So I started playing with wattage a bit. I worked it up to the max, 12.7. But suddenly vapor pretty much quit. I turned the watts back down to 8.5, fired it, looked at the ohms, and they were at 9.9, and volts were jumping from 7.5-8.5. Once I saw that, I quickly pulled it off my Darwin for fear of screwing it up.
Now I'm on to the new 3.5ml 510s from Nhaler. So far it's doing better than the 801 or 808. It does hold a lot of juice, but it doesn't seem as though I'll be able to vape it all, so plenty seems to go to waste. Flavor is pretty good, throat hit is a bit weak, and vapor is decent. But I'm still not real impressed.
I'll have to see if I can get a tank of some sort, to see how they do compared to the clearomizer. I do like the cooler vape of the 801 atties compared to the clearomizer, so may end up going back to them. I also got some the of the needle-nose bottles that someone had suggested here somewhere, and I do have to say, they make dripping pretty easy. Once I get my hands on a drip shield, I'll give the 901s a try to see how they rate.
