got mine in today... hawaii; good time.

the usps priority box was crushed... but perhaps a testament to Darwin's durability, no nicks scratches or anything :)

we're all good here... i put a joye reg 510 just to keep things kosher... it opened at 8.5 and shows 4.7v ... great vapor, a little hot on the d/t... but so far soo good.

i use a Pyrex (glass) clear drip tip btw, and i recommend it highly... i never get any juice back in mouth fwiw.

The arm is actually a small catch cup or resivoir but can over flow on the OUTSIDE of the box...Even with a giant resivoir or catch cup if your overfill that will fill up and overflow, so as with any device, you should be careful with how much you are dripping.
The great thing is if you do manage to drip some liquid into the electronics , you have a full waranty to fall back on. Thanks
Drew

yeah, so far i am TOTALLY pleased...
feels heavy duty,
the black color is an improvement over the grayish green look of the proto type.
the display lights up on firing and is pretty easy to read.

Just like Neb says, you easily get a feel for the adjustment needed as you dial up or down for the perfect vape; depending on juice or moood.
Although the dial is a bit tricky to get to the desired setting; it moves fast, it feels good; and gets you where you want it.

One caution regarding drips or getting juice outside the atty or connector, when you turn it off and haven't vaped most of the juice out, it may tend do drip out from the top... gravity. But you can position it so the atty is horizontal or at an angle; no problem.

As far as charging goes, as long as i can see the meter that shows battery charge level, I'm good. It came about 50% charged and right now is connected to my USB cable for my eGo USB batt... I assume its charging up. You need your own USB cabe btw as it comes with an AC wall plug charger.

The unit is again, solid, technically advanced and sound... from the first half hour of vaping only, I believe they DID their homework on this is one sufficiently state of the art vaping device. !

So far I haven't tried HV or other than 510 attys so my claim is based on my opinion of these basic functions.

good question mama, not that i have the answer, just looked over at my USB connected Darwin and noticed, that i left the arm up too... I mean why fold it down when i'm gonna just pick it up and drip in a minute or two?

I imagine it's covered as there is no instruction not to keep open eh? I'd like to know that too..
Got another pesky little question but it just dawned on me. I asked a couple of others and they said it was a good question, so here goes. lol

Will the screen suffer a "burn" for those of us who drip and don't fold the atty arm all the way down?

Inquiring minds and all. lol

btw ... i don't know how related the charge or batt system of the iPod is but i use my iPod all the time every day and night and get podcasts every day... i am hating it because if i over charge my iPod for more than an hour, it will lock up... unusable for hours until after unplugging it, leaving it and few hours later, it will show empty battery... i have to recharge it and make sure it doesn't overcharge... or the same thing will happen...

another great thing about the Darwin; overcharge protection !!!!

Screen burn is something that happens on TV, Monitors, Cell Phones, etc. or products that the screen is used for different apps or pictures so they dont leave a memory on the screen that shows up behind the picture.
This edition of the Darwin does not come with Movie watching capabilities or internet surfing...We are working on it though!!!!
Mama , I just called your Darwin and you didnt answer it? Are you on another line?....LOL:facepalm:

LOL Must have been. Trying it with a standard 901 now. :)

However, I am not sure I buy into what you said. Old CRT monitors used to leave a screen burn and they were relatively the same as this screen. Leave it on one thing too long and then you can see what is left behind.

Just a thought..... I am sure more are to come as I really start thinking about it. lol

Clyde,

You are so right about the "High voltage, Low resistance" thing disappearing. I am so used to 7.4v vaping, and when I put an atty on that I would normally use at higher voltages, and this thing had incredible flavor a vapor production, I had to look at the screen to see what the voltage was. Holy Crap!!! 3.7 volts??? Are you frickin kidding me? Who would have thunked it!

VV devices are great, but being able to adjust the watts, Brilliant!!! All this time, we thought that "if you want warmer vapor and more flavor, crank up the voltage. Yeah, if you also love the taste of burning wick, filler, etc.

All my other mods are now backups, or retired. Holy mother of God, I love this thing! Just need to get a bunch of adapters and extenders.

Vape on brother!

George

I can see both points in the cb-nb discussion. Despite being an old fart in the making, I was wondering why there wan't a charge indicator, at least a flashing battery icon, at first. But I was able to use the Darwin HEAVILY, ALL DAY without it needing a charge or showing that the battery had even dropped in capacity. I suspect that if I plug it in every night, or every other night, this will never be a problem. But an indicator would be a reassuring touch.

I have overfed mine once or twice, resulting in it throwing up on my shirt a little bit once or twice like a sick baby. That's a minor inconvenience until I get the learning curve down. The upside of it is that I haven't flooded my atty even once. Again, in my opinion, the good outweighs the bad...my shirts are wash and wear. My minor quibble is that I have to take particular care when putting an atty or adapter on the brass connection...otherwise, mine want to cross thread, and I'm afraid I'll strip out the threads on the connection.

Loving the crap out of mine, and I've started a little impressions thread in the review section and will be posting follow up posts as I play with it. My gut feeling so far is that the strengths of this mod outweigh having to drip...and this is coming from a die-hard juicing mod fan. I'm also starting to suspect that....and I almost hesitate to say it....that the distinctions I knew from my entire vaping experience such as 'high voltage', 'low resistance' and the like may have just disappeared.

This thing takes the 'hit the button, get a vape' experience of a good mod to a whole new level. It's 'hit the button, get a PERFECT vape".

I received my Darwin yesterday and have been using it as much as I can. The functionally is great! No issues with any attys threading on yet, tried Ato-Mizer, Joye LR306, standard 510, and standard 510 cartomizer. An extension would be very nice to have very glad they are working on it.
Aesthetically I do have have a small gap on the atty connection side and finish on the back is rough(the finish does not really bother me).
One thing people have to remember as an early adopter it is common to have small issues. As long as the device functions as described I am content, and that it does!

I think most people complained because we paid the price of a small car for the mod and just expected it to be prestine condition on arrival.
I should have waited for ver 2 I hear its got WiFi and Bluetooth full color screen for internet browsing :)

I would like to know where you're finding small cars for $229. My little bitty work car cost me about 12k. For $229, I could buy a bunch of small cars and rotate them like my atties.

:p
