Hey Darwiners! Because of the bad weather and flickering lights around here I used mine attached to the charger until about 11pm last night. Then I I left it off the charger overnight and used it all day. When I got ready to go out this evening - about 7ish - I had about a quarter bar left. I don't think I'm getting the same battery life as I see reported even though I run at lower numbers. It can't be that I leave it on all day because of the MAPs...or maybe it is. Either my battery isn't conditioned or I ruined its chance of being a marathoner by letting it completely die during its first day of use. I'm not going to freak out about it because I did not have to buy multiple sets of yet another battery type for it. Still doing the happy dance about that!

Edit to add: I'm so glad it's the weekend as I've been running on E. Today I committed to a rare treat called single-tasking. I highly recommend it.

Hey SK! It doesn't seem to me that you get the battery life I get. I leave my arm open almost all day because of a MAP also. For example, average day for me today. Darwin was charged all night and has been in use 16 hours without being charged at all and is at the half-way mark on battery indicator. I used my 2.4 ohm map today probably 10 of those hours and a 306 LR dripping the rest of the time. Total juice used was 4ml. See what I mean?

Edit: The other thing that matters here is wattage. I almost always vape somewhere between 8W and 9.5W.

OH
Bianchi....thank you! Was a nice review and that would have Def. Come in handy at times. Very addicted to my MAP right now, but if I ever stray... thanks for the info, amazing all the new stuff that has come out in just the five months since I started vaping!

From the Darwin pics I've seen, looks like it should fit in the off position (obviously not sure, though)

SK, remember, there is a 1yr warranty on the battery. Looks like u might need it, doesn't sound like the bat life everyone else is getting.

It may not be that serious. LiPo batteries don't have memory per se, but they do perform better when you charge them for smaller amounts of time without running them "dry". If you do discharge them to empty, recharge them completely and then start recharging them for shorter cycles when possible. In other words, recharge them when they get down to 1/2 to 3/4 full for a bit. That should restore them to their full cycle capability. This info came from Apple support to me when I had issues with my Mac Air which uses a comparable LiPo battery.

Does anyone know when Drew gets back from China? And, if there is going to be a batch of Darwins available then, or soon after? (basically, are there Darwins ready to be sold when he gets back?) Yes, I have become a Darwin stalker, I'm not proud, LOL.

Krisb, check your pm. I sent you Drew's email. In China or not, he'll tell you what's up.

Bianchi,

Last evening while attending our NVC/NYC Vape meeting I sat with the creator of the Empire Drip Shields (Keon) as he shared the latest updates and a demonstration of his soon to be released Empire Mod. He and I discussed at length the Darwin drip leak issue and various ways to resolve.

I had my home made juice catcher which actually was doing an admirable job I thought. Now enter the Empire Drip Shield!!! Wow, what a great add-on. Beautifully crafted and supremely functional on the Darwin. See pixs below.

To use the Empire Drip Shield on the Darwin you will need to either use the Cisco 510 to 510 adapter or the two adapter approach 901-510 510-901 This forms the base area at the bottom providing both length and clearance for the bottom seal and arm folding to turn off the Darwin.

I ended up buying four units - They work on 901's, 306's and 510's Note use with 306 requires a long drip tip (Delrin) See pixs below.

I would get in touch with Drew regarding the battery function on your device. My has been on going on the 2nd day most of the day and I am just under the half way mark. I am getting great battery life. Also the dial on my is sweet. I can now dial this thing in .1 increments. I can go from 8.1 8.2, etc and so on I have to be really gentle in my touch but I think I have it down to whatever setting I want. Wanted to mention this because some people were saying that theirs would jump up/down at 3-5 increments at a time.

I have gotten the "touch" down too Andel...You just have to move the wheel very gently and it goes up or down in .1 increments. At first, I think I was spinning it and going 5W in one move!

Edit: The other thing that matters here is wattage. I almost always vape somewhere between 8W and 9.5W.

Well today I was at about 3/4 bar at 10 hours and it was just threatening to hit half a bar when I threw it on the charger while I got dressed to go out. So far I'm at 3/4 and holding. I've been keeping it at 8.5 which is perfect beyond belief. Looks like it's going to be okay as an all day vaping machine. Warning: Extreme gush begins now. I love this so much I can't even describe it. I blew out an atty and stuck it on the device at 8.5, happened to look down and saw I was vaping with a HV at 4.5 ohm. Later on I popped on a 2.5 ohm 801...same vape. How cool is this? Still not old.

Had my first drop today. Glad that's behind me. Not a scratch on it. And, I had my first mystery. As you know I've been keeping the 510-510 that Drew sent with the device on. Well, I'd pooped on a tank and had been vaping for about 1/2 hour, tilting as needed to help wicking because it was below half full . I pressed the switch and the screen blanked out. *Pause*

I HAVE NO BACKUP VV YET! That's the very first thought that raced through my little brain. To continue...

Okay, I unscrewed off the tank and wiped out a sizable amount of liquid and swabbed the adapter connector with an alcohol wipe, put an atty on and it fired right up. Phew. Vaped along for a bit and, as I was going out, put on another tank (not the half full one) and by the third vape off it the very same thing happened. And, once again, there was leakage into the adapter. I had to use pliers (over a rubber glove) but I got the adapter off and - sure enough - there was liquid beneath the 510-510. Pause.

This is why I want to eliminate adapter use as much as possible by getting a native 801 device. Juice under an adapter is like...a PVs kryptonite. And, my MAP tanks don't leak except for a little bit after I've filled them - out the connector end - and when I've taken them out of their pill bottles after some handbag jostling. Now I know. I'll set them on a tissue to get that out of the way before popping them onto on the future.

And, I'm still just beat...fighting off a germ one of my family members gifted the household.

Edit to add: It happened again - MAP tank, not leaking, using a 510-510 extender from COV and the screen went blank. I removed it and there's no juice in the top of bottom of the extender. Turned the arm to the closed position and back up, put on an atty and its working. What a puzzler. The tanks are working on my SB and on my Big Kazoo...not exactly apples to apples for comparison but I figure if there was a short they wouldn't work in either of those. Weird. I love my tanks... Will stick with dripping and the VapeMate til I figure this out.

I will! Thanks, Cuseguy! I will do just that.

Drat. Put on a CE2 carto with no adapter. Blank screen. Put on an 801, with an adapter, screen is working. How strange is this? Could something about the CE2 be setting it off?

Just tried a brand new CE2 and I had a hard time screwing it into the arm. In fact, I couldn't get it all the way screwed down. The atty portion of the arm is rather shallow. I don't want to part with it but I'm a CE2 and MAP tank user... :( Emailing Evolv.
