I really need to change my avi, I'm having an identity crisis:)

Me and you both! All of you "Liv2ski" peeps, time to get your own avi. His is the one and only gutter-ski.

Plus I'm so confused. I thought Ski was the only one posting here for awhile.

When I received mine, I was surprised that a high dollar PV would come with no instructions, no box, just shoved in a padded envelope. This thing is built like a B.S.H., so I guess it's OK, but folks should be ready for that. It somewhat lessens the "perception of quality" when you receive it (at least it did for me). Luckily the Darwin is so BA that I was completely in love 15 minutes later and forgot all about it.

Understood, Rob, but for me, as gorgeous as the box might be or as informative as the instructions also might be, I've never vaped either. ;)

Got me to thinkin.......I have always heard this statement " The only difference between a man and a boy is the price of his toys".

Have never heard " The only difference between a woman and a girl is the ________ of her toys". Could anyone fill in the blank...???

Thinks to himself "I've got a great answer, keep quite. I'm safe if I pretend I didn't hear the question."

Took many years of marriage to learn this lesson.

It would seem to me that a perfect adapter would be 2 stealth 90% fittings screwed together like 2 plumbers copper 90% pieces kind of but in stealth adapters. This way we could screw just about anything onto the Darwin and have it close. I spoke to Drew last week and he said he was going to speak to Brandon about this to see if they could come up with something.

Darwin 1st Impressions... It's pretty neat and vapes as I expected to... AWESOME! That's what its all about, isn't it? For me the answer is yes... However, being used to tube mods and completely switching to tanks exclusively, I have to give it some time... That is the only drawback I can see at this stage. It handles a tank fine, and I don't think I will mind at all not closing it really. It would be nice though... I think I need to put it through its paces for a few days at work and such... If I were a dripper still, this would be an absolute winner being able to close the arm as it is intended. After a couple days I will follow up on it for you guys! I do want to comment on the switch... It's flawless and effortless. Feels great too. Need to hold on to it for a few days to get the feel of it. So far, it ain't too bad! I don't know about the gooseneck yet, that would allow me to close it with the tank, mainly because of the length of the unit with the tank already... Sooo... I am enjoying it right now, I report back as more findings transpire.
Hey Chief

Welcome to the Club, glad to see you got the Darwin and hoping you are and going to be enjoying it. Everyone, stop worrying about whether the arm closes or not, the battery will not be effected by it.

I actually don't remember the last time I closed the arm and shut my daily use Darwin off! My older one I use for dripping, so that one does get closed occasionally, but it doesn't affect the battery life much either way.

Hmmm... I noticed that my ARM has slight wiggle in the up right position... Don't really like that, would prefer it to be stiff. As I have been analyzing it for the good portion of the evening, I noticed a wiggle at the mini usb connection. Anyone else have that going on?

Where's Vapian at? I have a song idea for him

Still poking around from time to time. Once again though.. .life keeps getting in the way of my hobbies.

Side note: I'm beginning to favor 3.0 ohm SLB attys for some reason and...

"Hi, I'm Vapian, and I'm a sloppy dripper."

Drew, why you gots no drippy shields, huh? :)

Unfortunately Empire's out of stock, so went with a black Avid. It can't get here fast enough, 'cause I'm really not a fan of any of the cartos I've tried on this except the bottom coil 808's, which vape pretty nice just a shade above their stock 3.6-ish volts. Unfortunately not a lot of big cartos out there it seems in the ~3.0 range, and some CE2's ~ 3.2 I tried just don't seem to wick my nicquid fast enough.

(And why does that last bit sound dirty?)

Anywho, if you have a song idea, feel free to PM me ... I hope to get working on some music-y things again in a couple weeks or so.

Hey guys! It's not about a power drain issue at all, its about pocketability for me. Maybe I should start carrying a man purse

Indeed. When out and about I've been slapping some dual carts on it so I can carry it in my pocket. But ideally would like my G-Tank with me all the time. Hopefully the gooseneck arrives tomorrow and I'll see how that works out.
I find mine doesn't switch off every time I shut the arm, I have to fold it back open and then shut it again.
No biggy, totally happy with it's performance. Happy to not be charging various batteries each night.

From what I've read many D's seem to have their own unique arm behavior both upright and closed. Probably something to do with having tolerances suitable for easy manufacture, is my guess. Could also behave differently with a tank vs. an atty, for example.

My USB connector wiggles, too. I emailed Evolv and asked about that. They said a bit of wiggle is normal and no problem as long as it charges, and if a problem ever comes up to hit 'em up and they will take care of it. From what everyone writes they step up on such occasions so I'm not too concerned.

You said stiff.

You said wick your nicquid.

Hit a bump driving down the road while vaping and you'll be glad it wiggles.
Just saved yourself a big dental bill (and maybe some pain too)...and yep, just that fraction of an inch play can be enough to prevent a chipped tooth or a busted lip.

It's not going to fall apart on you, and it should be stiff enough to stay where you put it. The play is actually good though....keep using it and you'll see :) When it comes to things you stick in and out of mouth hundreds of times a day....it's good to have a little play..... (Can't wait to see what Kat does with that one).

After a while I quickly started to appreciate things that I thought were strange at first.

Kind of like a car...yep, you can take out the shock absorbers (a possible failure point)....but in the process you get a hell of alot bumpier ride!

Build a house with no gaps in the windows and doors and other joining points...it all shifts around with a weather change...and all of a sudden you have doors that pop open on their own and windows that won't close...etc. Houses that have some play built in can stretch miles into the air and sway with resonance and expand and shrink with temps. They last longer, usually weigh less, and cost less to build. In contrast...shove it all together too tightly, then you need more and better materials to handle the extra stress of that, and unless you're using some major space age materials ... too tight tolerances will cause more friction and wear, cracks and breaks, and buckles and weaves; then, you got all sorts of problems.

Same with the USB wiggle...
Let the entire board move around slightly and there's less 'stress' on the solder points. If they make it really tight...then it has no room to shrink and expand with changing temps. Also, if the port takes a good wack while something is plugged in...that play can absorb some of the shock so it's less likely to damage the solder points or bend anything. And yep, again they could have mounted things up on rubber or nylon and taken most of that play out (the nylon mounts would snap to protect the more fragile stuff if it took a lick, rubber would bend instead of snap, but would probably start dry rotting and need routine replacement in short order)...but that'd just add extra cost and not really improve the design any. Just my opinion. I'd rather just reset the board than also have to replace safety mounts, or worse, re solder stuff or replace the entire PCB.

So yep, they could have made it all fit a little tighter....but would have had to use much different materials...make it cost a bunch more, and it wouldn't be as 'safe' and easy to use and work on.

Tit for tat?
