KD, sorry I wasn't available for your actual turning, meatspace demanded that I not be online all that time. Good sig, btw.

Darn meatspace! You missed the fun and shennanigans! Pure silliness and lots o' love.

lol I don't get the blue tarps and oil, but I'm drawing my own conclusions and really dig the phrase

SKI? GET OVER HERE!

Ugh, it's been a rough day. First it was three bad cartos in a row this morning, all in a tank and quite a bit of good juice wasted :( The first one I guess didn't have a big enough hole so wasn't wicking for crap, the second I got two drags off of and then a dead short, then the third one was a ridiculously tight draw (should have checked that before filling) and while I could still hit it the carto kept flooding after a couple draws . . .

Then let's not even mention the nail-biting finish to the game (and not the finish I was hoping for)

Hmph

Awwwwwwwww...... poor baby!

Darwin should work with either, but since it's neither an automatic or a bottom feeder, sealed seems best. It just would keep more juice from working it's way into the brass threads. I don't think that really hurts anything, but from time to time I make an effort to clean out the threads wherever the atty/carto screws into anyway.

Agreed. I prefer the sealed for the same reason.

Sorry to hear...If there is anything I can do to help let me know. I have days like these where the cartos ar eeither too dry or flooding. I usually lay them on their side for a few hours and come back and they seem to even out....Not really sure how or why but that usually works(at least with the flooding ones). Thanks

Thanks, Drew. It's all good, though, I haven't had many dud cartos in my time vaping so I guess I was due ;-) The one with the short really confused me, it just suddenly went dead after a couple hits and the Darwin read it like there was nothing attached  I musta popped the coil. They were cheap anyway, from a lot of Boges I picked up on the classies. Was just venting for the sake of bumping up the thread ;-)

Anyway, how's Darwinia today? I think all the newbies must be in nic comas 'cos we haven't had much action from most of them :p

Killjoy (and other tank users),
I have experienced some of the same issues Killjoy ran into with carto/tanks. Here are a few things I now do. Others may disagree and/or have ideas/practices of their own. I am not saying these are "best" - merely that these do work for me. EVERYTHING in vaping is subjective so you have to find whatever works "best" for YOU:

- I punch 2 holes (my juices are anywhere from 50/50 to 75/25 V/P). I punch one lower and the other on the opposite side a bit higher up the carto length. I shoot for one hole to be at least 1mm in diameter (using below linked video punch = hear pop and continue turning as far as it will go gives about 1mm hole) and the other same or smaller (hear pop and one more full 360 turn). I am always careful to look inside the carto to make sure the punch is NOT aligned with the coil as I have damaged a carto coil with the punch. Look closely as the coil can wrap around the core - you can see the direction the coil is laying if you look carefully at where the coil wire comes out of the center tube (may appear to go straight down after exiting the center tube or may appear to lay at an angle = wrap).

- I use this to punch = $7.00 at Home Depot or Lowe's:

- I always draw on a new carto before punching as I have had some with a very stiff draw right out of the wrapper - these I throw away (for the exact reason as Killjoy experienced - filling a tank only to find a bad carto after filling).

- If I get a bad filled tank (for whatever reason), I pull out a funnel and re-open the tank over the funnel (into the bottle or other) so I am not throwing away that juice.
FWIW - I use tanks almost exclusively now. Yes - on my Darwins, rarely use other devices anymore - except for KICK'd tubes of course!

Hope something above is helpful. :toast:
Happy :vapor:

Nobody else has run into the flip the arm and no turn on issue? I've sent my baby back three times and every unit I get its a 50/50 chance of turning on. I requested a brand new unit and it does it also! So I now have two that I'm going to have to send back. I got one of the very first ones to be sold a pre order actually and it worked fine for like six months. Now I can't get a unit that turns on and off like its supposed to. Getting real flustered here!

Hey I need some advise. So I got my new Darwin and I am loving it but the button seems really really hard to push. I kinda have to slide it up and it actually hurts my finger after a while....Is this normal? The button seems to be quite recessed...I am wondering if I have a squashed button or will it get easier with use. lol

Thanks Nanovapr .... Live and Learn...obviously user error. If I push on the top of the button it works great. DUH

Yeah_its_me, the button is actually sort of a lever. If you try it in the middle, it's difficult. Push on one end or the other to see.

Markimar, the switch is not directly connected to the arm, it is operated by a magnet. I haven't seen the insides (of mine), but it's possibly a reed switch. On both new ones and old ones, if I open it fast, it will often "miss it" and not power on nearly every time. If/when that happens, I just close it a little bit slowly, and they always come on. Hope this helps, it would suck to have a Darwin and not be able to use it...
