So i did some searching but couldn't find a good answer to my question, hopefully someone here has it.

How do you clean/polish your swing arm (the brass piece) and what product do you use?? Can the button be polished as this appears to be brass as well.

Mine are discolored and dull - unlike a lot of the pics i saw. Brass has a tendency to "blacken" over time from oxidation, and i am a bit of an ocd'er so it is really driving me nuts lol.

thanks a lot!

My brass is in good shape... but the button has some lime green funk on it :dunno:

While "all tubes, all the time" vapers don't like Darwin's design, I have always rather liked it. After two well-publicized recent e-cig battery explosions, I looked at Darwin in a new light. The nature of tube mods leans toward having threaded end caps, which tend to seal them up. Some have blow-out plugs in case of battery explosion.

Darwin is two machined pieces of aluminum bolted together. Am I correct in assuming that the existing hole for the mini-USB port would be a vent in event of catastrophic battery failure? That end is also always pointed away from our face during normal use, unlike the possible "Roman-candle-in-your-mouth" aspect of some.

If so, Evolve/Nhaler should promote this fact in Darwin descriptions everywhere. It's sad that much of the public's knowledge of PVs will only come from dramatic media news bytes. Even if the USB port is not a proper vent, I suppose the screen would blow out before the case broke. I would rather have about one square inch of plastic going off than a handful of metal exploding shrapnel.

Some really good points here. Since the battery is on the right-hand side of the screen, I would think that the path of least resistance for built-up pressure (e.g., a battery exploding) would be the USB port. It may be a happy coincidence, but Nhaler could definitely call that a "strategically placed battery vent". Definitely a bullet on the list of selling points.

Those 2 exploding battery articles were definitely scary... one had a raunchy description of the aftermath... knocked out teeth, chunks of tongue missing, lots of blood, and even a fire! Wow. I almost always have my Darwin's arm at 90 degrees with the screen parallel to my face... so if the battery went, it would be like a fun, sideways bottle rocket explosion situation... that may or may not take out a wall of my cubicle and/or co-worker(s)

Too funny! I, too, use my Darwin in the same fashion. Now you have me looking at who may be at the end of my "bottle rocket explosion"!!:D

The adjustment wheel would be a vent, If you look its pretty open there id find that the adjustment wheel, the fire button and the usb port would be your main vents incase of a battery failure, then the screen would prob blow. Being such a well designed device that the darwin is, The vent holes are probably well thought out just like the ones of the silver bullett. Which the SB are all hidden :) ... This is just my own speculation i have no basis for what im saying im just guessing here. So please dont take this as a fact..... Godbless

Good point, escaladedude, the wheel and button areas are just as open as the USB port.

casualuser, if anything I would suppose we are safer with Darwin, than your basic flashlight/tube type mod. The users on those are free to put in any battery that will physically fit. Several of them do not have enough amperage to last all day, this encourages the users to "pick up a spare pair". Stacking batts, non-protected batts, cheap batts, charger differences, there are several variables.

Non-Darwin users complain about the fixed batteries. Darwin users know they will easily last all day and it's not an issue. This gives Evolv (and us) security in knowing that we aren't cramming just any old batteries we have in there, because we can't. We are always using the proper batteries.
