Katdarling, you can read up a bit on them hear if ya want =http://www.amazon.com/Hyperion-Extended-Capacity-3500mAh-Battery/dp/B005F5U4V0

I wonder what the C rating of these are. Surely two in parallel could handle just about anything you throw at it though.

Just ordered two dna boards maself!

Thanks!

For those in the know; Got any info about the charging board? When it'll be available? What dimensions are it? Etc...

I was going to order a dna last night but without the charging board it's not much different functionality wise to the Kick (which I did manage to get one of awhile back!). The form factor/dimensions of the DNA is different than the Kick but I'm going to mod a VMod and the Kick shape is actually better suited to it. But I would like to add charging capabilities to it...

I'm not sure of the "C' rating,, but I think 2 of them will handle anything, just like the Darwin does utilizing it's 2 Lion Pack batts, worth looking into but I think 2 of these should do it,,, I would like to put 2 of them back to back in a Mod inside, and I've been trying to find a plastic rectangular or square bottle that can be glued to the one side of a Mod, like a fuel tank for liquid, to be able to build this Mod the size of a deck of playing cards is my idea Jim,, totally self contained, with only three small openings, one for the USB to charge, one with a set screw to fill the liquid tank and one to squeeze the tank with the squeeze opening being the biggest of them. Done deal it would be for me if I can spec this out. If anyone knows of a thin square or rectangular bottle/fill tank type , in a HDPE or even SS, please let me know where to get this, I cant find it, which means I may have to make it myself.

Have not been able to locate C rating on these.....personally would not use till C rating was determined to be adequate....From the DNA datasheet:

A single cell rechargeable lithium chemistry battery is recommended. Either a lithium ion or a lithium polymer type can be used. Any battery used should be rated for a MINIMUM of 5 amps continuous discharge current. High C rated lithium polymer or IMR cylindrical cells are strongly preferred.

Thanks! Looks like the bolts stick out quite a way on the back side? Length and width of about a dime, but is height also about 3/4"?

According to my sources  the charge circuit should be available within 2 weeks and at a price under $8 - but don't quote me on that ;)

Thanks! Another silly question... can the chrging board be used with the Kick or only the DNA? Also, how does the DNA supply look? If I'm going to go that route I'd like to order both the DNA and charging board at the same time, but will the DNA be sold out before the board is in stock?

(sorry for so many questions!)

Glass bottles are readily available in square/rectangular shapes, but I don't recall seeing plastic "squeezable" bottles in anything but round or oval. :(

DNA only.

No way to know - Evolv gear tends to sell fast and always more comes in - not always to people's V-Gigs standards (Brandon announced that they could not get some of the Darwin parts - backordered - and that slowed new Darwins and repairs but more are coming). I would imagine these "should" be coming off the line more readily. Nobody could have calculated the demand on Kicks and they are ramping up production. I would imagine, like Kicks, they will get a read on demand and then ramp up accordingly but I honestly do not KNOW what production levels are anticipated.

Hope this helps.

Ya glass isnt gonna cut it, plus what I'm looking for is only 1/4-3/8" thick, may have to make this set up out of SS, I need it to have some flex in it to be able to Squank it :)

No prob. I already had that bookmarked since I like the thumbwheel adjustment best. Bought a couple of them for a mod I still need to find the time to finish and now there's another new toy out to play with . . . maybe I'll hold off on the DNA until I can buckle down and finish my other projects

Potentiometer:
Use a standard linear taper potentiometer. Resistances between 1k and 10k ohms are
recommended. To reverse the direction of turn for adjustment, reverse the Potentiometer – and
Potentiometer + connections. Any type of potentiometer can be made to work – shaft, shaftless, slide,
etc.

That's pretty awesome that you can use whichever resistance pot you want. Seeing as it has the capability to read resistance, it probably takes the difference between each side of the wiper, uses it to set the range from 5 to 12 watts. Finally have a use for that big 10k volume control pot from radio shack. This leaves options open for all different styles/types.

Switch:
Use a momentary on, normally open type switch or button. A standard pushbutton switch is
appropriate. The switch is a logic function – all power switching is handled with transistors inside the
DNA module, so the switch does not need to be rated for power. A waterproof or processed sealed
switch is recommended.

Again, this is another awesome feature! Tactile, "clicky" buttons, big stainless vandal proof switches, mechanical switches, without having to worry about switch ratings. Also leaves a lot of options, as opposed to most step-down regulators modders use that require a normally closed switch to do the same thing (which are a lot harder to find and have less options).

Looks like evolv/dimension hit a home-run with this board. Dead simple to wire, endless options for switch/pots, onboard charging (soon) AND variable wattage. A modder's dream.

Will be interesting to see what people will come up with.

Thanks a ton Killjoy. That's exactly what I was looking for! :)

Just a little warning about the Bourn's pot if you're going to use it, at least for the ones I've tried (200ohm and 10kohm which are identical in size), it's a lot smaller than the one in the darwin and can take some force to turn especially if its pressed up against your pcb too much as the plastic for the wheel comes out the other side.

Edit:
In my search I found this which is more like the darwin's: http://www.sparkfun.com/products/11173

Has anyone tried one of these on a Darwin
Steel Ripple Tank Round Slim Size

That's a good looking tank....I have no idea but interested myself if that would allow the arm to close. Still thinking the best option as of now is still the 1" flex Gooseneck option unless I've missed something more "current".
