We are currently helping spread the awareness of Electronic cigarettes and trying to help leading researchers discover more information about these groundbreaking devices.
Please visit WebMD and participate in this survey. Its free and you can keep it confidential if you dont want to give them your personal info!

"New online electronic cigarette survey - PSU.": Smoking Cessation Community - Support Group

I have met the guy running this survey a couple times and he seems very fair and interested in finding out the hard facts. I trust that he will give us a fair shake for a change! Feel free to share this anouncement and/or link with anyone you know who could fill out the survey!
This the actual link if you dont want to follow through the ones above.

Thanks everyone.

Did that one just a few days ago :) There's a couple of questions that are difficult to answer because of the way they're worded or the available responses, but the guys running it are aware of this so just do the best you can with those. I get the impression that this survey is an "honest" one, rather than the usual datamining for numbers to support any pre-determined conclusion, so definitely fill it out if you haven't already

I'm a pretty big privacy guy online, but I did it. Under "reasons for my device" (or something like that) I put Reliability, longevity, trouble-free. I specified Evolv and Darwin. I tried to spell everything right, and I used nifty, tough and .....in' grammar!

I read the New Members forums, and people still carry around pockets full of batteries, and several PVs....

Here's a question for multi-Darwinated folk? My main Darwin is my original gray-screen, short-threaded connector. This is my every day, all day. I have a couple of blue-screen ones, that I rarely use. One of my blue-screens is out on loan, the other has only been charged/discharged a half a dozen times.

I'm going on a trip to Africa, camping with no electricity in the bush, with 4,000 people that have never seen an ice cube. My cousin has been a missionary there for 20 years, and is getting married. Some family and myself are attending.

I know the TSA knows all about vaping. From USA I'm going to Amsterdam, they know about smoking. From there to Nairobi, Kenya, from there to Entebbe, Uganda, from there a 12 passenger Cessna, from there a 2 hour drive.

I am trying to love my old 510 big-batt stuff, but even with LR it's not the same. I plan to take my blue-screen Darwin, and leave my favored gray-screen at home.

In revisiting the blue-screen, one of the reasons I don't use it as much, is that the button-press is Very Stiff (this must be what Scott/igetcha69 was complaining about). My other blue-screen has a normal/easy button. More importantly, those models have more threads in the 510/barbell connector. Some early cautions were "wow, you could strip those 2.5 turns of threads out, if you weren't careful". I was always careful, never a problem.

The blue-screen doesn't have as easy of a draw, as the gray-screen, due to longer threads blocking the airholes (I am a Boge carto user).

My question (finally)!

Would I void my warranty if I carefully Dremeled the air slots on the brass 510 connector a 64th of an inch, for more airflow (I have done this on other devices, with no problems)?
Should I stack up multiple 510-510 adapters, in hope of more air leakage? I know that multiple connectors give more failure points.

Ski: As the most international vaper I know, you said "get a Twist", but I have probably now waited too long! I'm leaving in 2 weeks.

Have you tried to just modify your cartos instead of modding the Darwin itself? As you mentioned, you have 2 weeks to see if it'll work. Or modify an older adaptor you can do without.

Maybe order a twist just for this trip as a back up, but send it to a coworker or someone near you if it doesn't make it to you before you leave.

Heya Skratch, long time no see. We've obviously quit riding bikes for a while, too cold in Midwest! Yeah, after I wrote that, I realized it would be smarter to just make some bigger slots in a 510-510 adapter, rather than Dremel a Darwin.

I've completely quit chasing hardware and vendors for the last year and a half, been completely satisfied with Darwin. Looks like Drew has twists, I may try to get at least one.

Twist users, is 2ohm carto OK on these? I always use 3ohm on Darwin. Don't want to hit the batt too hard.

Hey Nano,
Try these they are 12 mm shorter than the twists and the 1300mAH last a LONG time!
Revolver EGO Batteries

These kits are a pretty sweet deal too...
Revolver Kit

Im putting up a New Year Coupon Code right now for 10% off orders over $35!!! NY10...

Dremeling into the arm may void the warranty. I'd suggest you try this first. I think the blue screened Ds had the sealed connector. I had gotten into the habit of putting sealed 510 to 510 adapters on all my Darwins - from the time the sealed ones were first introduced. However, I noticed, when I switched to cartos, that the air draw was often much more tight/restricted. I replaced one of those 510 to 510 sealed adapters with a non-sealed one and the draw got much better. So, as a possible approach to both issues, try a non-sealed 510 to 510 adapter and if it improves the draw, just leave it there and you can be less concerned about the threads. You are using cartos so leakage is not really a concern (unless you often flood your cartos). At least this is worth trying. If it does not work, and if you have time b4 leaving, you can try contacting Evolv via their contact-us and see if they might have any suggestions regarding this or the tight button on the other one.

Hope something in here is helpful. Have an amazing trip - sounds like one of those potentially life-changing experiences. I have done things along this line and highly recommend experiences that stretch us out of our comfort zones.

HNY all.
:vapor:

EDIT: When I switched to the non-sealed, I make sure to clean our the adapter whenever I am replacing a carto. I use tanks so a carto can stay threaded up to a week (depending on the juice). So, when I replace the carto I take the adapter off and rinse it out (dry it) and clean the connector thoroughly and then carefully re-assemble. Juice accumulation can cause These electronics to get a false read and activate the short circuit protection. I notice this mostly on Kicked devices and less on Ds but I still do the cleaning each time I replace a carto anyway.

Thanks for the info, NB. I too am paranoid about keeping the threads clean. I use a q-tip with iso alcohol to clean the connector well, then let it air-dry before using. Thanks for the tip on Revolver, Drew, I'll get one today.

I'll be in the bush for 12 days, will have (converted to 110) AC available the day before and day after going in. I'm taking along two solar-charging battery packs, one 5000 mAh, and one 8000 mAh (with two charging panels). In addition to vaping, my group is going to have several USB_chargeable doo-dads along. In the Midwest USA in December, it takes about two days to get them mostly charged (the 2-panel one charges faster). But this will be equatorial Africa, should be no shortage of sunshine!

Here's the village I will be staying in, blended into the landscape at the bottom...
