So I started vaping almost one year ago and I do love it. I also love ECF. It's a wonderful virtual place with an amazing knowledge base with tons of friendly and nice folks.

But here's the problem. I start reading things on here. I see that so and so has just put out a new review on the latest battery release, the latest mod, the last cartomizer, the latest accessory to make things easier. And the more I read and interact, the more i just feel a NEED to buy more stuff.

And right now I'm all stocked up. I dont REALLY need anything else. I could go for 3 months without buying a single thing.

I went for a period of a few months without coming in here, just to avoid the spending. And I think about about to go that again. So it's not personal ECFers. I just can't afford this, lol.

Anyone else have this experience?

I've been content with a Joye PT and BogeLR so much that That's where I've chosen to stay. I have an all day inexpensive eliquid. I don't buy for months at a time, and probably have spent less than $500 since I've started last Feb. I Really want to buy more, but I wait and it goes away. I have other hobbies that I really enjoy also.

I mostly come here most days to help a newbie out, learn more about vaping, and occasionally argue w/ Provari fanboys :)

I feel this way when I see anything. This is why I have a hard time saving and my gf hates me LOL. I sometimes just need the latest and greatest and the best.

While I'm not tempted to buy the "newest and greatest"... I do have to use restrant when it comes to time tested products. New devices and equiptment are almost always buggy and can be money wasters. I jumped in on the Lava Tube when it first came out and (personally) regretted it. I was able to sell it in the classys before the price dropped too much. Now I view new products, whether it be new APVs or new cartos and attys with caution until the bugs are worked out in later versions and time has shown them to be worth the money.

While I do own a Provari and enjoy it very much, I do have other mods that I enjoy almost as much. I hate seeing provari owners jump into a thread and recommend it without regard to the person's needs, experience and budget. A person who is happy with his or her 510 or 3.7 box mod doesn't need a provari. It's the tone of superiority that gives any device "fanboy" a bad name. But then again, once I did own one, it was easy to see why many people do recommend them. It's been said time and time again that whatever keeps a person satisfied and off cigarettes is worth it.

I now have aquired all of my "dream" devices LOL. I have lots and lots of my favorite cartos (boge xxl 3ohm) I diy my own juice and use flavor sparingly. So I can afford to sit back and wait on a really good deal. I have a favorite reviewer and if he tries it and loves it, I figure I will also. While I'm not at all tempted to buy new versions of stuff, I do enjoy watching that version go through the reviews. I like to keep on top of things and am glad I can do it and not feel like I have to buy and try it. I watched carto tanks for awhile before I stepped in and bought one. Even with time and research it took me some time and money to finally get to where they work and work well for me. Everyone's taste in equiptment and juice is very subjective so when you're a new vaper, it's hard to know just what you'll like and what will work. It's trial and error.. I can't imagine having done it without ecf. If a person is happy with their setup and can't be on ecf without giving in to the temptation to buy stuff, then they're smart to stay away LOL

For me it's been fun going up the vaping "steps".. I started with a mall kit and when I moved up to a 510 it was like WOW! When I went from my 510 to the eGo it was like WOW! When I went from the ego to a box mod it was like WOW! When I went from a fixed 3.7 box mod to a 5v box mod it was like WOW.. I JUST POPPED 2 ATTYS! (and sold it) When I went from the fixed 3.7 box mod to my first vv device (the vv SGT Army Tank bottom feeder) it was like WOW! Once I got to the Provari there was no where else to go, everything else seems like a lateral move. I wasn't interested in the looks of the Darwin, didn't think it would work for my vaping style, I'm sure I'd love it if I got it but for some reason it's never appealed to me.. maybe because they're never in stock .. not saying I'll never buy one, it's just not something I want right now.

I've always wanted a Reo but they were expensive and fixed voltage. I've always wanted a Buzz but I chose the Provari.. so when the vv Reo Woodvils came out (combining both the looks and functions of a Reo with the internals of the Buzz) I couldn't resist and am glad I didn't. I'm just rambling here cause it's I'm off work, it's raining and I'm taking a break from house work.

It's quite easy for me as I like watching review of products and comparisons to other devices, the floors and features independent to each mod. I always see a new toy and think to myself "hmm that is really cool ..maybe I should buy one", then once I look at the price, "you want HOW much!! no way!".

@Donna I like the look of the VV REO Woodvil .. except for that black button on the side, it like a big black ugly wart on the side of such a fine looking device. That is only me opinion but it seems to ruin the clean looking aesthetics of the device.

i definitely feel it a little bit, but i can't blame forum lurking exclusively for my money squandering habits. for the most part i feel like i've tried most things that i would like to, and i take the fads and crazes with a grain of salt alongside my own preferences.
usually when i decide to buy something, even with the original intent of waiting for a while, i'm pretty set on the idea. i didn't want to buy a mechanical tube mod until june/july, but i definitely bought one this month.
i think what eggs me on the most is seeing newer members (or older ones) hesitating less than me in their collecting. surely if newer vapers than i can buy a provari and some other high end pv, i can justify my own collecting?
this still doesn't change the fact that i have once more spent myself broke at the beginning of the month. new summer clothes can wait til next month. :p another one of my issues (personally) is that i'm adjusting to holding only two jobs (rather than 3 or 4), and i only work at one of them once a week as of late. often enough what really becomes my deciding factor in a large purchase is: i would have spent $250/month on tobacco, which i obviously was breaking the bank to afford anyways. also, my income from my second job will take care of most of it. what good are second jobs unless you can use the money to spend on things you enjoy and otherwise would not be able to afford?
after this spending spree i really don't see any large vaping purchases in my near future, unless it's stocking up on essentials.

EFC is definitely cutting into my WoW time! I often find myself browsing late at night searching for the perfect leave me in a fog that would shut down LAX vape. In doing this though, all of my World of Warcraft characters are now terribly under geared and neglected. I don't know what to do anymore!!!

I'm running about $2 - $2.25/day, after years of a pack a day habit. I DIY, so even really good eliquid is dirt cheap. I use three nice PV, with a small auto battery for stealth/hands-free. That $2/day includes $1/day towards new widgets, if something really looks interesting I may get it, and PIF one of my existing ones.

Those who like to try the latest and greatest are super, since early adopters help weed out the garbage.

I feel the same way. How many revisions of CEs have there been so far? OTOH we both jumped on the VV Reos. That's really a combination of 2 time tested mods. So, I guess it doesn't count.

I agree that the Provari fanboys have been pretty irritating lately but, it's only fair to point out that not too long ago the Reo fanboys were just as bad. I still remember a post where someone with an ego wanted more vapor and a hotter hit and some people were recommending a Reo mini.

    Any tips on DIY?

8% vanilla (2.4 ml per 30 ml), 8% banana, 6% strawberry is a pretty popular mix. I use natures flavors flavorings, from their organic coffee bean flavoring series, but perfumers apprentice works well (use their banana cream, strawberry, and pick a vanilla). Give it a week of steeping time before trying it.

I've been vaping 3mths. For me, I was just looking to get off big tobaccos "additives". Tried one gas station cig and that led me here. So glad it did! I won't lie, I totally get the hobby side of it. I'm a hobby junkie of sorts. But with 3 kids little of my hard earned cash goes to myself lol. Because of this site I was lucky enough to find a simple Ego, some cartos, and juices that i love and it does the trick. I love ECF and all you guys for helping me find the cost efficiency balance that keeps me happy and in the black....but I'll be asking for that provari for x-mas :p

I'm not so tempted to always have the latest and greatest. But I do want quality and reliability.

I'd also like to reach a certain level of self-sustainability in case big brother gov ever decides to put the smack down on vaping. Which is why I'm going for a rebuildable atomizer.

This way I can just stock up on a few innocuous items and be set for months, if not a year or more. Hopefully long enough to ween myself off completely.

My biggest quest currently is finding consistency. I keep trying new gadgets in hopes of finding a good quality vape, with little to no hassle or leaking, that has some level of consisitency. Certainly not finding it in cartos or clearos. The clearos seem to have terrible consistency in wicking and cartos have a pretty poor record with like 1 per box of 5 being DOA or varying greatly in flavor from one to the next.

Hoepfully the rebuildable atomizer will solve this problem as well since the wicking and coil will be entirely on me.

LOL I vape while raiding, most of my toons are doing just fine since I spend a good bit of time on ECF while at work.

There's a WoW vapers group here (not very active) on ECF. You can find it through my profile if you're interested in joining.
