I was asked to move this question over to this thread for more input. So here it is.

I have been analog free for the past 6 months using V2 Kr808's. Although I am happy with the 808 I would like a longer battery life.

I have been to cropduster901 and I am looking at the 650 mah Echo kits. It seems like a good value at $39.00

Should I go with the dual coil echomizers or single? Your experiences please. I like the warm vapor the V2 cig creates and would like something close to that.

If anyone has a different suggestion please voice your opinion. I want to make the right choice based on others experiences

Thanks in advance, Paul

If at all possible I would like measurements of the complete unit with the echomizer. These thing look huge compared to what I am using. That drip tip looks long.

You'll get used to it quick. Whatever you get in the kit...single or duals....toss a couple of the others in the cart. The good news is you can keep on using the V2 cartos on the echo battery while you decide what you like best.

This little gadget could add to your experiment.

Yeah.....my disposable income should probably be disposed of on something other than ecigs right now. Then you add adapters and such and I'm not so sure of the accuracy.

Valcas1- I myself don't think the duel coils are anything great and generaly don't last as long as the single coils. The duel coils are ever so slightly warmer, but if you puff of youre single coils in a few short quick puffs the vapor gets just as warm if not warmer. As for the 650 mah, this is what I vape exclusively. Not to big, lasts almost all day, and I can keep it in my mouth and vape without having to remove it after every puff. Several places sell the Echo and all seem to be realy responsible, and address the rare isues quickly. You will not regrett the Echo, and everyone on this thread is wonderfully polite, with no egos(excuse the pun) and realy helpfull. Please ask questions and if we don't respond exactly for what your asking please ask again. Welcome aboard, and let us know when and if you get one.

I doubt anyone could tell the difference, if any, without some sophisticated equipment. Personally the inline volt reader, adapters and a VOM to be a must have part of the vaping arsenal.

so now that this thread works again...

Charlz great work on the voltage readings

What I was going to say is, my understanding of regulation is, it kicks in under load, and holds the battery around a certain value +/- 1, and then drops abruptly towards the end of the charge cycle

With my V4L batts I can see the end of the discharge cycle coming about 50 puffs out, it tapers. With the gen 2s its literally 2-3 puffs and crash.

So I'm not sure if your data is consistent with regulation or non-regulation

I think the only way to really know is test the battery under load towards its death, which I will do I promise :) I've been caught up trying to eliminate the nasty taste from one of my nichrome spools (32 AWG), at which I'm failing miserably lol. And now all my repairable CE2s are set up to take 32 gauge, so I'd have to do a tear down to try the 34 and test my hunch that the 32 is the problem batch...
Anyway...

Can anyone tell me the best place (or site) to purchase an Echo Kit with some good ejuice all in one place? I have been reading about the Echo for a couple of weeks and I am ready to buy. Been vaping an eGo T for 2 years along with V4L, Smokeless Image Volt, Ultimo Vision and a few other no names and it's time to move on up. Any info is appreciated.

P.S. I quit smoking and tried vaping for the last couple years and I fall of the wagon every so often because of crappy kits and crappy juice but it's time to quit for good. I'm close to 1 month this trip and i'm going to make it this time for sure. Just need a good setup and I feel the Echo is my answer.

Can someone tell me how many refill one could expect to get out of a echomizer if you don't allow it to burn the filler.

It depends on your juice but on average a week or two. After that the coil gets gunked. There are many methods of cleaning them. The bases aren't glued to the shell and can be popped off and completely cleaned for a month or so. Here's the simplified method. Trust me. It's easy. I was not a modder until someone on this forum finally impulsed me to try it and everything I learned, I learned from taking the echos apart. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/ego-type-models/189567-echo-thread-330.html post #3292 in case your page setup is different.

Another method it to buy a carto flushing kit from Smoktek. It's not a thorough but will get you another week or so. Cartomizer/Atomizer Cleaning Kit - With 10ml Control Syringe, Luer-lock compatible w/cleaning tubes and instructions

Sorry one more question. Do those new stardust tanks with the wick work any better than the echomizers in regard to vapor production?

I'm not sure which ones you are talking about. The wick thing is throwing me off.

Try these while you're at SmokTek. http://www.smoktek.com/Vision-808-Echo-Transparent-Clearomizer-25-Ohm_p_285.html They are the best I've had in an 808 connection.

Before I started DIY, I was pretty happy with Northwest Vapor's juice. Mountain Vapor had good juice too. Both sell echo kits with echomizers or the ce4+ type turbo clearomizers. I'd start with the echomizers because once you get used to filling a giant horizontal cartomizer, it's less fiddly. The ce4+ are great out of the box but sometimes need a little tweeking that is no big deal once you get to know them. Vapor Girl has echo stuff and her juice gets good reviews as well. I had issues with the battery I bought from her but after a few chargings, it worked itself out.

If I'm wrong about them being unregulated, I owe you 30ml of my FP blend.

Mountain Vapor has good juice. I think his kits come with five dual coil cartos. The other suppliers only have two cartos with their kits.
Mountain Vapor Starter Kits

Smoktek also has good juices and good prices on his kits but is out of Echos right now. Echo 650-1300mAh Complete Kit
Cropduster has echo kits in stock but doesn't sell juice anymore. ECH0 1300 Chrome - $48.95 : CropDuster901 eCigs, eCigs, Vaporizers and Supplies
Northwest Vapor has juice and echo kits. I haven't tried his juice. The Echo Electronic Cigarette Starter Kit - $44.95 That is for the 650 kit 4.00 more for the 1300.

I'm going to be trying these...
Pre-Wound Wicks and Wires
in my Echos. They may arrive in today's mail.

Let us know. I was a little confused by the description so I'm curious to see what arrives and how it tastes. Are you removing the center tube? So will we have to wait a day or so for silicone curing for a taste test?

I'm not so sure I need prewound. As a tip, double wicks as described are too thick for proper airflow. How they are made....single wicks snipped short....is how they work best. Believe me (and you may know from me posting my little experiments along the way) I spent some time trying to reinvent the wheel.

The only other tip is to just make sure during the dry burn, that everything that glows is nicely within the airtube with as little contact as you can. Even the tail sticking out a little can result in burnt cotton and wasted time. I usually just hold the tube in place during dry burn to see exactly how to position it when I glue it and whether or not the cotton diaper can touch a glowing coil. :)

Hey Charlz -

I think the product is merely a length of perhaps 2 wicks about 2 feet long. Every 2 1/2" or so in a 9 turn coil of 4 to 5 Ohms.

I think the process is to snip a 2 1/2" length with a coil in the center...adjust turns and wick length as one determines is suitable for their circumstances.

I received 3, 808-type Echo Clearo's last week. Two of them went dead in short order. I found I was able to disassemble them easliy and adjust the coil ends to make new contact and they have worked okay since. There is no modification or gluing. Let me see if I can dig up a video link...

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...urbo-ce4-vision-stardust-ce4-clearomizer.html

My carto construction is slightly different due to 808 vs. 510, but the principles remain similar. There's a few slight tricks about where the wire at either side of the coil go that are not readily discerable in the video, but easily figured out when the carto is apart.

While not the least expensive way to get a new coil and wick, I thought I'd try that as listed above for interrum learning about coils and wicks. ...with shipping about $1 for each. I'll probably eventually get some Kanthol and 'something' to use as wick. I still have a G-Bell Atty coming at some point.

No package today.

Probably several of the clearo tanks that would benefit from something like this. Appears they could be ideal for the Vivi Nova with the separate coil head that appears to be natural for such a mod. Guess it all comes down to how easy it is to make electrical connections, something I've never tried.

Edit: Appears you covered everything I was thinking about while I was putting together my thoughts. :)

Those are good. I like the SmokeTek 2.5ohm (till it's time to rewick :p) ones better. Flat tips and for some reason they come apart at the base easier than any other ce4+ I've used. But that would mean separate shipping so do let us know how they work for you.
Echo hardware reviews are always good here. nHaler doesn't get a lot of press on this thread. Maybe because the batteries and kits are so expensive. But his refill stuff is priced right!

I have a few of the CE4s from nhaler also. They work fine for me. I rendered a couple of CE4s totally useless by taking the cap off the air tube to dry burn them. Why is that a necessary step for a dry burn? I just don't think the manufacturer ever even thought of that possibility.
