Can I switch the topic to batteries?
I started my echo journey about a year ago with a couple of 650mah batteries. But the draw was very airy, and I didn't like it much. Then used echo-e for a while until the stealth batteries came out, got two of those and I was very very happy with the draw and the darkness. But of course I wanted more and D & B was gone, so I ordered two 1300 mah batteries for home use from another seller . What I got was the same style I didn't like a year ago. The vendor has kindly offered to replace them with the new style from Hangsen (new shipment) with LED. Does anyay one have thoughts or info about the draw on these vs the stealth or the original style battery?
thanks as usual.

Totally off topic but necessary. Please read.

I received a "wake-up" call yesterday from Mastercard about suspicious charges on the card. This is a card that I use ONLY for ecig purchases. Someone somewhere has hacked either one of our vendor's accounts or PayPal. A test was sent yesterdayto the card for $1.13 and last night someone charged over $1000 for airline tickets and an Apple iPhone. Although I know I am not liable for those charges and the card has been inactivated someone in the ecig food chain has given up my credit card number hopefully without being aware that it was hapening Everyone please check your source of payment for your ecig supplies to be sure you were not caught up in this
. I suspect that this probably happened because of PayPal and in order to become a "Verified Member" of ECF you must give up your bank account number to them? That's just hard-down country stupid!!!

The wick 'n coils arrived from nHaler today. With perhaps 1 1/2 turns short of what was provided, I installed a long wick coil that ended up metering at about 3.4 Ohms. I fired it up with GoodeJuice GJ4. It seems to be doing fine with long wicks...at least initially. I guess it is now a CE4 Ver. 3, or CE4+ Ver. 3...at least 808 equivalent thereof. This seems a good rebuildable, so far not a lot of fuss.

The unprotected have a slightly airier draw but not much. Other than that, they are all drip protected now and have the same draw. I managed to snap up the last 650 from Smoktek with led before he ran out and it came unprotected. I believe I bought the last one we will ever have.
There were some issues with the stealth when they first came out but it seems to be resolved now. AFAIK, all Hangsen is giving us now is the stealth (with the pinhole led). The fixed versions have been out for a month or so with no problems. Maybe the occasional qc issue that's normal. But the draw on all of mine are typical of the gen2 type protected auto.

Thanks for the reply, Don't know if anyone else is affected or not only time wii tell. Keep checking on your CC statements!

My Mastercard was hijacked a month or so ago but I think it was further down the chain where it was obtained. I think millions of numbers were stolen from Mastercard a few months ago. They just canceled the card and sent me a new one.

Thought it was 9 coils.....that's still a lot of coils to fit in a ce4.........need more info, I'm obviously misunderstanding.

It is 9 coils. Nine coils wrapped around 2 pieces of wick about 2 feet long. If one cuts the wick and wire (not where the coils are wound) half-way between the coils, one gets a single coil with two wicks through it and extending about 1 1/4" either side of the coil. Only one coil is used at a time in the Echo (or other) cartomizer. So, one lenght of wick and wire, properly cut can replace that in a single carto, 9 times, or 3 cartos, 3 times, or, however you prefer your math.

=====////\=====*=====////\=====*=====////\=====, etc.

////\ = Coil
=== = Double Wick
* = Cut Point

Thank you for the warning, lulu - will definitely keep an eye on my CC statements; other than that, I know it's quite a hassle - you have to pay some fee, do every online transaction with a prepaid/charge card and empty it immediately. Should help if this kind of thing happened.

...unwound it a turn and a half or so...learning process...when it warms up a little, gets in the range of 4 Ohms. But it doesn't take all that much voltage to vape well. 4.3 Volts or so sets it off nicely. The other 2 I've install are about 4 Ohms cold. They are advertised at 4 to 5 Ohms. Want less..? ...unwrap a turn or two of coil.

Has silica been denounced over in the 'safe wick' thread?

I have a carto question. I have a SC that is about a week old and been vaping 100% vg bobas bounty and now it is giving me a terrible burnt taste, so bad i cant vape it. Is the carto pretty much shot? I ordered a crystal vision clear carto and really love it, but is there a special way to clean them or just keep topping it off?

I'm still using it. I've done a couple of experiments with the ce4s but haven't dedicated my life to it yet. Threaded some cotton through a prewound coil on a ce2 as well. That's the real beauty. It's so soft, you can do things you can't with brittle glass wicks. The whole point of the thread is alternatives.

It's hard to degunk a vg crusted coil and wick. I'd suggest soaking it for a day or so in PGA then rinsing it. Look through the more involved cleaning methods below. It's a reply to a previous similar question.
It depends on your juice but on average a week or two. After that the coil gets gunked. There are many methods of cleaning them. The bases aren't glued to the shell and can be popped off and completely cleaned for a month or so. Here's the simplified method. Trust me. It's easy. I was not a modder until someone on this forum finally impulsed me to try it and everything I learned, I learned from taking the echos apart. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/ego-type-models/189567-echo-thread-330.html post #3292 in case your page setup is different.

Another method it to buy a carto flushing kit from Smoktek. It's not a thorough but will get you another week or so. Cartomizer/Atomizer Cleaning Kit - With 10ml Control Syringe, Luer-lock compatible w/cleaning tubes and instructions

Other than that, just avoid the center hole when putting juice in the clearomizer. A syringe is easy and mess free. Wipe of any juice on the rubber piece that tip screws on to. Cleaning them involves pulling out that silicone piece at the top of the post that rests on the wicks; the piece with the metal tube that the tops screws on top and soaking the whole thing in alcohol and dry burning.

don't worry about ruining the coil. It's pretty far down there. Put a thin piece of metal in the metal hole and wiggle it around and up until it's to a place you can tweeze it out. The other thing you can do is remove the o ring that sits at the base of the threads in the top metal ring. Then grip the shell firmly and with a pair of pliers, yank of the metal ring. It will give you more room to work with.

If and when you decide to remove the top metal band, look for the second o ring inside just under the inside lip. Make sure you don't lose them. Some of them, come right off....others are too hard to remove without damaging the threads. A couple of yanks will tell you if you want to remove it or leave it alone.

In other words, yes....you need to remove the rubber piece. You need to let out all the nasty fumes from the dry burn and check the coils. make sure they are evenly spaced and glow red hot. When you have it right, there will be no more smoke off the coil, very little smell and the wick will be nice and white again.
