But if they are regulated they stay at the same voltage until they die. A regulated kr8 is 3.6v all the way then it's dead even if it comes off the charger at 4.2v.
The Joye egos were regulated at 3.2 to 3.4v before they came out with unregulated Joyes which put out a 3.7v batteries max......4.2 volts.

make sense?

They don't really dip that much under load because they are already limited and not putting out their true voltage potential.

Am I wrong to think that you can tell a regulated battery from an unregulated one by checking it with one of those premade underload testers? The things I know (or think i know to be regulated) just give me a scrambled reading where as I actually get a reading from things that are unregulated (or so I think).

If it was regulated, say at 3.6v....you would get a reading of 3.6v. Because the battery is regulated to only put out a voltage of 3.6v. Until it can't. Then it dies fast. And again....when you are using it.....it would be the same vape from start to finish. Not hot at first with a quick decline to it's sweet spot and then a painful death at the end involving hard, long draws.

But some regulated batteries can't be read. The answer is in the description of the product you linked to "These indicators may not work properly with batteries that use linear or pulsing regulators and will just flash."
And if you could read them they put out a fluctuating reading, not a steady one. At least that's the case of pulse width.
You need special equipment to read them.

Thanks Charlz! But is there any reason why one of those would not read an unregulated battery? Really my question is if you cant get a reading on a battery with one of those does that most likely mean its regulated?

http://www.cloudsofvapor.com/compon...ge/product/COV_Voltage_Mete_4ee56ede13853.jpg like that one, i have only seen them in 510 though, I think an adapter would work since you would still be activating the pv by blowing on the other end. Not really sure, I'm sure Charlz knows exactly why or why not what I am talking about would work or wouldn't work.

You will get the scrambled reading on most, if not all regulated batteries, and many of the VV units though not all. I even get a scrambled reading on my Passthru unit. If you get a scrambled reading the next step is an adapter and a VOM. :)

IDK if the logical conclusion is that it must be regulated if you can't read it but all they are capable is reading straight voltage under the load of the resistor. Basically they just sit in the middle of the circuit and measure what the battery is putting out. With nothing resisting...it puts out so much but you add resistance and it puts out less.

Pulse width controls the current so it lets out rapid pulses of highs and lows and the middle point is the voltage. This either causes it the reader to get voltage readings all over the place or an error message. IDK how linear works.

The unprotected have a slightly airier draw but not much. Other than that, they are all drip protected now and have the same draw. I managed to snap up the last 650 from Smoktek with led before he ran out and it came unprotected. I believe I bought the last one we will ever have.
There were some issues with the stealth when they first came out but it seems to be resolved now. AFAIK, all Hangsen is giving us now is the stealth (with the pinhole led). The fixed versions have been out for a month or so with no problems. Maybe the occasional qc issue that's normal. But the draw on all of mine are typical of the gen2 type protected auto.
Thanks for your reply,
So is the draw difference between the stealth 650 (oneyear old unprotected ) and the 1300 (protected)just my imagination?
I just did my version of an experiment. I put a single coil new vs double coil old atomizer on the 1300, and it is a bit better. I still want to cover one or two of the holes, which I don't need to do on the 650.
Ah well, I am probably just obsessing.:(

The new protected one is airier than the old one? Hmmm....Variables always exist. The draw will stiffen up with time. You can try packing down the filler in the cartomizer a little either with a straw around the air tube or by tapping it sharply on your palm like a pack of ciggies.

Originally, so many people complained about the airy draw that they stiffened it up a little. That was before they switched to protected posts back around November and they started finding their way to us. I'm sure it's not all in your head.

Maybe it's the draw of a brand new battery.

Can you Id my Echo? Hi Echo users. I was referred to this thread by a Vet.

I (lucky noob me) was recently given a ton of vaping supplies by my vaping mentor. Included were several batteries, and an adapter so the batteries work with my 510, and a charger. I now own a second PV- an Echo! I'd like to be able to order supplies, when the time comes, but don't know what I've got. Here are some pics that I hope are clear enough so someone can ID this Echo:

Thank you all. All help is greatly appreciated.

Looks like an 808 threaded chrome echo auto, it will work with 808 accessories and the carto pictured is either an echo single coil or dual coil carto, which are available at various online suppliers like: http://www.cropduster901.com/ , Mountain Vapor - High quality e-cigarettes, liquids and accessories. and http://www.thevaporgirl.com/Default.asp (only dual coil there i think).

There are also clearomizers available like the iturbo at thevaporgirl.com the main thing is the threading on the echo is 808. Also, be very careful not to get juice in the hole on the center post.

Welcome!

You had the great Echo, is the LED red?
Other Echo suppliers are Welcome to SmokTek, LLC - The Better Smoking Alternative - Your source for personal vaporizers, e-cig supplies and e-liquids and North West Vapors. Electronic Cigarettes - just look under Echo cartos/clearos. Of course the standard 808 cartos/clearos will work too.

Echo carto (some called it Echomizer) is great, just make sure you don't under-filled it, 3ml is enough (use syringe if you want exact measurement, it's PITA to drop so many liquid into one).

Other than that... enjoy your Echo, hope you'll love it :)
