OK, Some common sense things I can sussgest, but I will not hold my breath.

No sales to minors. Felony for any adult supplying ecig materials of any kind to a minor. Second offence means manditory sentencing.
No possession of any ecig materials by minors, first offence misdemeanor and second offence a Felony.

No regulation of devices, you don`t regulate flashlights or space heaters, and both can burn your house down. Where`s the FDA on this?
No regulation of juice, period. Let the lawyers and free market deal with it. You buy fresh beef at the counter? At Burger King? Jack in the Box? Thousands of people die every year from bad beef, bad cabbage (being a vegan ai`nt totally safe), bad whatever. The FDA is a BIG FAIL, no need to give more money to a big failure. Everything gets taxed at the currant consumer goods tax rate, No sin taxes or other hidden fees. Go sin tax pastries. Pastries are a bigger problem for more people right now than Nicotine. On second thought, stop taxing us, period.
We are TAXED ENOUGH ALREADY!!

Simple. Make that which is criminal, Criminal. Leave the rest to the lawyers and free market.

What?? You actually think a minor should be charged with a felony for simple possession of an e cig?? This is insanity.

i think its about time this thread closed:facepalm:

I disagree,
A lot of well spoken ladies and gentlemen here,
I wish I knew more about the FDA and its stand on tobacco & vaping.
Pleasure to read most of this thread :pop:

I will chime in on one concern,
IMO, we need more transparency when it comes to juices,
Vendors should be obligated by law to list ingredients.

How that is to be enforced by our Government(s) is another kettle of fish though...

You do realize that this punishment does not even exist for cigarettes, right? Even possession of alcohol is a misdemeanor regardless of number of offenses.

I don't think you understand what's at stake here. If a lot of minors vape, I might have to deal with a little regulation from the FDA. There's no way that's permissible, so we need put them in prison for threatening my right to do whatever I want!

Sure, regulation is inevitable. But the more we fight them, the less they'll try to grab. So, even though you know you'll eventually lose, it's still worth the effort. And, who knows, you might be surprised. I never thought the herb that cannot be named on ECF would ever be legal, and now I live in a state where recreational use is legal. If you live long enough, you get to see everything.

A thousand times this ^^^.

The proposed regulations are so far from a reasonable and appropriate process to address the safety of vaping it all needs to be fought by as many people as possible. I believe any other course of action is quite misguided.

It's nice to see so many people agree with this. This will give us the best chance of a better regulatory outcome :thumb:

While I agree with some of your points, the one I don't agree with is no regulation of juice. This is the one I actually hope is regulated. I'd rather pay a bit more for juice that I know meets strict safety standards. It is after all being inhaled into my lungs to the tune of 3 - 5 ml every day. I buy my juice from my local vape shop and I've been in their lab and they have shown me they use the best and safest ingredients, but we don't know if all sellers of juice go to the same same lengths to ensure a safe product..

Nice use of sarcasm. Too bad it's not more accurate.

exactly, and now there is a company making actual cigarettes from that leaf, which has for a long time been considered dangerous to the health and behavior of its consumers. im thinking vaping will take a turn for the worst in this regard before it gets better--and im confident it will get better. when, i have no idea.

Labels and regulations might be useless but at least I can see the ingredients in my food and the %. Now I can make an informed decision about what's in my food.

That's the funny part. No you can't. What is "Natural flavoring"? What makes yellow number 5? Why was it genetically modified and what's the end result nutritionally? How many clues are there on your package suggesting monosodium glutamate yet it's explicitly missing on the ingredients list.

0 grams trans fat on your stick of margarine... lol, must be safe then. Eat all you want.

But the FDA and labels have made the choices clear.

I know you're being sarcastic, but when you put it that way, there's actually a lot of sense to this position. I suggest the death penalty for a third offense for anyone caught vaping under the age of 21. This will ABSOLUTELY GUARANTEE that kids who vape won't turn to cigarettes later in life. Problem solved!

Probably, most of those kids were little punks anyway, and the world will be a better place as a result of their deaths. GET OFFA MY LAWN!

Yuor kidding, right?

The FDA is not going to regulate juice or hardware? That is not a reasonable regulation expectation unless it is not the FDA doing the regulating.

With all due respect, this sounds like one of the mitigating factors contributing to the problems involved with under age smoking. Is it not a reasonable assumption, we no longer hold our children responsible, hence our children are not responsible?

Truth is the parents should be held responsible for at least the first offence, but no one wants to take that responsibility. So we accept that we can offer a false sense of responsibility by giving the Gov control of regulation. Problem is that does not go to the root of the problem, and is only a band aid in the destruction of individual rights and liberties, and responsibilities.

Sadly, I think you're correct.

Everyone is certainly entitled to their opinion but I have to wonder how anyone can justify allowing minors (as defined by the law, 'under 18 years of age') to vape. Of course it's better than cigarettes but that's the weakest justification I've ever heard and is no substitute for good parenting or grandparenting. I don't know what's happened to the concept of parenting in this country where people would rather pick a 'lesser of 2 evils' than exert their authority as parents to insure that their loved ones don't start habits any earlier than necessary. It's like a parent saying their going to by sterile scalpels for their kid who cuts themselves because "it's better than letting them use a pocketknife." Is there ANYONE who's going to try and argue that vaping is better than not inhaling anything at all? Why then not do everything within your power to stop them from vaping?

Sure, some kids will find a way - there are always those. But, as a parent, I would rather know that I did EVERYTHING I could to stop them from picking up habits than always wonder if I couldn't have done something different. 18 years isn't that long to wait to start vaping - they have a lifetime to partake, if they so choose. But why encourage ANY bad habits before they're old enough to have any hope of making an informed decision?

It blows my mind that any adult could support vaping under the age of 18. Not my kids. SO glad we live in extremely small town USA where we know what's going on and can still practice old school parenting.

I think you misunderstood my position, if I'm one of the people you are referring to. I would tolerate a sales ban to minors, I just don't think it's necessary, for the reasons you state. I have a daughter, she's four now. I'm hoping that I do a good enough job parenting her that she won't want to pick up habits like smoking or vaping, but I think that responsibility falls on me, not the government.

I admit, I was totally dreaming. About a free country, individual liberty, inalienable rights, and all that rot, :?(

Call me cynical, but I really believe this is the authentic chain of "reasoning" that leads to discussions like this:

America still suffers from its Puritan roots and views any vices as an affront to God. Therefore, anything that benefits sinners or the "morally weak" by mitigating the negative impact of those vices must be a bad thing. By allowing sinners to avoid the risk of cancer without suffering, we are helping them to avoid their just punishment at the hands of an angry God. Vaping allows the sinner to avoid the risk of cancer without suffering the pains of withdrawal, therefore vaping is wrong and must be outlawed. In order to do this, we need to pretend to have a rational reason (separation of church and state, you know), so we'll dig up or manufacture any cockamamie set of "facts" we can find to support the decision that we already believe is the morally correct one. Then, we can do exactly what we were planning to do all along, in the "scientifically proven best interests" of the people.

Currently, we're in the "fact finding" phase, because the FDA hasn't been able to dig up enough cockamamie facts to support the decision they want us to come to yet. But, it's only a matter of time.

The fact that poor people smoke more than rich people, and that vaping therefore helps poor people more than it helps rich people is just gravy. After all, if God loves someone, they wouldn't be poor in the first place.

I'm usually not this cynical, but that's a pretty good read PapaSloth :thumb:
