Here in Michigan the popular smokable herb was legalized for recreational use by voter referendum last year. I don't follow things closely but I'm not aware of whether retail locations for that purpose exist yet. Retail locations for medical use exist already. I believe they sell vape gear for use with liquifiied versions of their product. My understanding is that the FDA does not have authority to ban vape hardware intended for that purpose. If that's correct then vape gear may be available in those non tobacco retail locations here in Michigan?

I found a YT video where Dimetri (aka vaping greek) and Matt from SMM are discussing the FDA. I would call them semi-insiders, better informed than most of us. Near the end of the discussion (skip to 1:21:50) Dimetri says he believes 'DIY nicotinne will never go away'. He didn't elaborate or defend that opinion and I won't be relying on his prediction, 90% of my stash is in place, but he might be right.

Hmm.. Well, if DYI nicotine doesn't go away, there will be a huge "informal market" for juice.

Even if the FDA itself would be willing to tolerate this, I don't think it would take very long before ANTZ and their lapdogs in the media apply pressure to them, perhaps even in the form of another lawsuit. We've seen that kind of thing already from the American Association of Pediatrics and the Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids; that's why we're currently looking at a PMTA deadline in May of 2020 instead of August of 2022.

Ah - "No Fork in the Road" - Well at least not yet, since I haven't posted "The Problem" here (although I have mentioned it somewhat on other threads). But since you asked, I will jump ahead of my reading other post to search for an answer and let Ya' know "My" quandary. . .

The situation . . .

1) I live in a 1 Bd room apartment in a Senior Community Apartment Complex. And even though it is one of the larger apartments here, it has a small Kitchen with a small refrigerator and an even smaller freezer (that is usually filled with Food - cannot get rid of it - NEED to Eat  ).

2) Not Allowed to replace it with larger Refrigerator - nor get a seperate small Freezer (Couldn't afford to away) . . . :(

3) Worse, Since it is a HUD subsidize residence, not only is smoking cigarettes/tobacco products/medicinal products banned - they have banned Vaping (matter of fact, they have banned any open flames, including candles/incense, etc.). Given this, there are 3 month maintenance inspections which include maintenance people checking out that you are not violating the "House Rules" (Smoking/weird Smells, not keeping the apartment clean/maintained, etc). As a result, I cannot have any vaping equipment or supplies out in sight either.

Now here is the Problem . . .

Right now, since I am no longer a dual-user . . . I just started purchasing premixed Unflavored 24 nic 50/50 E-liquid (Kolada/Menthol Crystal Liquid - gave up on trying to find ADV flavored e-liquid), so what I have in "My" Vaping storage area is only 1 Litter. AND - Although, I only use approximately 5 ml of e-liquid a day, I know I will need to get much more for the future . . .

So - What are the other options of getting and storing enough e-liquid that I will NEED in the future ? ? ?

AND - No - I don't DIY, it's hard enough to figure out how much Kolada/Menthol Crystal Liquid to add to the Unflavored Premixed Nic E-liquid that goes into a small tank . . . Just Sayin' . . .

Look that's "My" Story and I'm sticking with it . . .
.

We are in different living situations, but I understand completely. My issue right now is more of a budget one. I think I will be able to buy 1 liter this fall/winter, when that runs out I may have to vape 0mg. Plenty of old flavors left, so at least it will be flavored lol. I've been thinking about getting a credit card, as ridiculous as that sounds to me. I hate the credit interest scam.

Got my gallon of salt nic from LNW yesterday. Bottling today.

Since we're already off the rails--

I've been using nanophosphate batteries in 18500 and 26650 mods. Very safe chemistry, long battery life--but one big difference. They run at 3.2V. They stay at 3.2V, then they eventually drop off to nothing rather suddenly. So you can vape them dry.

So, of course, they only work with mechs. I'm liking the results of running subohm coil builds and heads at 3.2V. It's a subohm world, and this is one way to keep the vapor cool. It's also a battery chemistry that is completely disassociated from vaping. They're used mostly for solar lighting.

The only nanophosphate batteries that I've seen in 18650 don't have high enough current ratings for even a low wattage wizard like me. I'm sure they're coming, though.
You mean LFP?
Lithium iron phosphate battery - Wikipedia

18650s here:
A123 System High Power Nanophosphate LiFePO4 18650 Rechargeable Cell: 3.2V 1100 mAh, 30A Rate, 3.52Wh
30A, but only 1100 mAh, so about 1/3 the Wh we're used to. That said, looking at discharge curves recently, I'v concluded that I really only use the top 1/3 of my batteries anyway, so with slightly revised builds, they'd probably work.
I'm guessing you mean LiFePO4 (lithium iron phosphate) for the chemistry? I'm using those in 26650 in a tube mod at the moment (26650 squonker on the way). There are 1100mah a123-18650 LiFePO4 rated to 30 amps (have some on the way from Europe, but can't vouch for them or the seller yet) --- they can be found in the US:

A123 System High Power Nanophosphate LiFePO4 18650 Rechargeable Cell: 3.2V 1100 mAh, 30A Rate, 3.52Wh

but they had ridiculous shipping charges to ship to Canada.

edit: also, LFP cells typically have 1000+ cycle life as well.
I mean nanophosphate, which is the description of the chemistry on the wrapper. Of course, the 18500's (different brand) have LiFePo4 on the wrapper. Battery life is deceiving. When these puppies fall off, they're pretty much dead. You can definitely use more than the top third.

For me, though, the biggest attraction is the voltage.

On edit--I found those 18650's for $5.99 at 18650 Battery Store (shipping is reasonable)
Lithium Werks 18650 1200mAh 30A LiFePO4 Battery - 18650 Battery Store
Some places do use "nanophosphate" as the descriptor for their LiFePO4 (lithium iron phosphate) cells.

And yes, the voltage, or rather the stable voltage under most of the discharge (flat discharge curve) is appealing ... it is practically like having a constant voltage mod, except it's a mech :)

The more likely work around would be buying pre mix from an online retailer who is off shore and the package slips through the cracks. It's hard to believe selling pre mix at scale within the US would be worth the risks. May be my problem is I can't understand why a pre mix business exists beyond getting people started. That's my blind spot.

I've been mixing and rebuilding for 5 years. I do everything the opposite of fancy or elaborate. Yet I get an experience more to my liking than anything I could buy pre mixed or pre built and the extra time involved is so small the money saved makes it high wage work. After that, if you're not going to mix and rebuild I don't see how an affordable stash is going to protec.

BTW, Tomorrow a 250' roll of 26 AWG Temco stainless wire will arrive in the mail, cost, $9.18. It doesn't need to be stockpiled but If I use it exclusively with my usual pattern, 2 coils a month from 1' of wire, it will last 20 years. My first $10 bag of Japanese organic cotton lasted almost 5 years. A $50 liter of nic lasts 4 years. I got a 10 of my preferred atomizer for $7 each. An equal number of my favorite mod were $28 each. A stash is not rocket science.

Question about those LiFeP04 18650s: They would need to be charged to 3.3V maximum, right? So either I'd have to stay right on top of my charger and pull the batteries when they reach, say, 3.2V or get one that let me set the end voltage? (I already have my eye on one of those; this would simply give me the excuse to buy it.)

Also, am I correct in thinking these would add a layer of safety to using a mech? I mean, all the usual precautions would still need to be taken, but the chemistry is intrinsically less volatile, which would cut down the risks?

I pay off my card every month so I never pay interest. Still, you can get a debit card from most banks. I have two checking accounts, both give me a debit, one I use online only, the other I only use at the ATM.

LFP cells get charged to 3.6V maximum. Some chargers have a setting for them, for example the XTAR VP2. That's a quality charger (albeit an older model) that you can get for under $20 these days. I bough several from a CoOp here in late 2014 or early 2015 for a considerably higher price. I've kept them as backups because I prefer the way 18650s fit in my VP1s.

I believe so, yes. They're definitely less volatile when physically damaged (punctured or crushed). Of course the main worry in a mech is a dead short. I'm not sure how they'd behave then. I may just have to find out at some point (of course not in an actual mod!) :)

I haven't taken the time to learn mixing my own juices. Other than that I can buy a bunch of sh stuff before the new regs kick in.

Making your own juice is really easy especially simple recipes. You just need all the start up gear. It’s kinda fun as well. So keep it in mind as all these rules are being set in motion.

I remember I love this song. The 80s rock.

Nothing compares to music from the 80s and early 90s. Glad I was in my prime during those days. The club scenes were crazy. I’m surprised I made it through those decades in mostly one piece. With exception of a near fatal auto crash that ripped my liver and nicked my aorta I’m a lucky woman. Unfortunately I’ve had lots of effects from it as I get older. But the music was great.

Ah - no that's a V2 which appears NOTHING like the V1.
The V1 used to be on FTech, but looks out of stock in all the colors...

They seem discontinued, and the only place I found them, I've never heard of...wisevice out of Texas?
I do still think it's a bargain, and worth having one!
I like the look of those. I really don’t like mods that are boxy or square looking. The just don’t look comfortable to hold. Maybe the are but I still prefer some curves lol!

I purchased four (they come in two-packs) Gearlight flashlights off Amazon for $10 per pack. I bought them because they take 18650's. Perfect for us vapers because we can use our batts for both. I find age kills my batteries more than over-cycling so it works out good. I hate using standard alkaline batteries. Expensive and they leave a larger waste stream. So flashlight talk is not completely off topic. :)

I was doing some battery research at one point and couldn’t believe the number of flashlight collect forums. Never knew it was a thing.

Yes, indeed. It is all re-bottled:)

I used 250mg amber Boston rounds with those special caps (can’t remember name)!bottles but wish I had used the smaller 120 ones. Although the 250s barely fit just close enough in my freezer door. I have smaller bottles for when I open the 250s but I was noobie bto all of this and just buying stuff quickly without a lot of thought.

I honestly should just purchase a small freezer chest that I keep talking about doing but never do!!

Get a charger that has a proper LifePO4 setting/mode (finishing at 3.6v) --- I'm using an Xtar VP2 --- do not try to use a regular charger and 'stay on top of it'.

Yes, the chemistry is much safer --- see:
Lithium iron phosphate battery - Wikipedia

Just design your builds to give the vape you want at around 3.2v, and use a high discharge LiFePO4 cell (there are many low discharge LiFePO4 cells of various sizes, not a lot of high discharge cells).

My math skills are fairly good so I was able to calculate mine in my head in about 12 seconds. I’m sure there are others who have even better math skills who could do it in 9 seconds. :)

I have NO math skills. Almost embarrassing especially considering I went to private parochial schools except for college. That was just a small private school. Would’ve helped with all these DIY calculations instead of having to ask for help.
