I would trust you more if you could provide the Smush Alignment Factor Coefficient (SAFC).

Not in the same the way a cone would. It not only seals around the top of the rim, but also the inside of the rim. It's like a cork with a threaded cap to keep it wedged in.

You could contact a poly cap manufacturer for that information if you want true figures, which you seem to be after. Anyone here can say anything but if you want the skinny, go to the source. Armchair engineers and scientists aren't a great source for scientific info. No offense to anyone here.

I thought it was common knowledge that the SAFC for flat foam is 1 while polycone is 11.

Not in the same the way a cone would. It not only seals around the top of the rim, but also the inside of the rim. Labs use them for a reason. It's like a cork with a threaded cap to keep it wedged in.

Perhaps like using a pillow to suffocate someone versus a hunk of plywood?

On the North American Unified Bottle Scale (NAUBS) anything less than 0.55 would be considered Poor.

And Anything Greater than 0.80, usually Only seen on Cobalt Blue Bottles, would be considered Very Good.

NOTE: SAFC's are like mAh's. In that the can be Vastly Overrated. So be careful when buying from Questionable Sources.

That Doesn't Happen with Poly-Cone Caps.

Well - I don't know what happened - nor what I did . . . However, when I decanted the NIC I had into 8 oz bottles this past week - I had to reopen a bottle and the Poly-Cone was actually still attached to the bottle instead of the cap itself . . .
