Never heard of it. Will look into it.
It seals it airtight and the tape fuses to itself, so it will not come undone like electrical tape will over time: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072PSFPNR/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Ignore the one bad review... the idiot tried to seal a garden hose (which is pressurized) with it. lmao

EDIT: That's the one I got, it was $4.74... I only used probably half the roll on 14 liters. (I bottled 14 and kept 5 in the original plastic jugs). but I noticed it is out of stock... but a search brings up plenty of options.

Are people using silicone tape or heat shrink tape around their glass nic bottles. I have been using electrical but it seems to get brittle after awhile in the freezer.
Electrical tape isn't going to "seal" much of anything, at least not for very long. PG/VG tends to soften the adhesive. I've used it on some of my Freezer Experiment samples primarily as a reminder to myself that those bottles are not to be used.

Heat shrink isn't going to "seal" either. It's primary purpose is to show whether a bottle has been tampered with.

If you really want an extra seal, I'm with zoiD, get the self-fusing silicone stuff. But if you're using bottles with quality caps, I don't think it's at all necessary.

I used self fusing silicone tape on all of my bottles along with poly cone caps. I got it from Amazon and it ran me $4.72. Was able to seal 14 of my 19 liters and I still have about half a roll left.

When you talk about silicon tape, are you talking about the white tape used on gas fittings? We sell that at my work for sealing fittings on gas regulators and fittings.

I think there are several different varieties. I use the silicone plumber's tape from Walmart. 99 cents for two rolls. Useful for many things around the house!

Edited to add: Mine looks to not be self-sealing, just the white, stretchy silicone tape.

That sounds like teflon tape.

No. That is Teflon Tape. Which goes on Threads to make a better thread seal.

We're talking about Self-Fusing Silicone Tape (Tommy Tape) which would go around the Outside of the Cap like a Heat Shrink Band.

Amazon.com: self-fusing silicone tape
