No. That is Teflon Tape. Which goes on Threads to make a better thread seal.

https://www.amazon.com/LASCO-11-1033-Sealant-2-Inch-100-Inch/dp/B00ITPHXZI/ref=sr_1_3?crid=EQGGRAU323JG&keywords=teflon+tape&qid=1579362327&sprefix=teflon+,aps,207&sr=8-3

We're talking about Self-Fusing Silicone Tape (Tommy Tape) which would go around the Outside of the Cap like a Heat Shrink Band.

Amazon.com: self-fusing silicone tape

OKAY - Did a "Google" (didn't want to just purchase 1 item from Amazon since it would probably cost more then it is worth w/shipping - not "Prime") & "Amazon" searched for "Self-Fusing Silicone Tape" and that's what came up . . . I'll search the link for 'Tommy Tape" that "You" provide, since it list a number of products to choose from . . . THANKS . . . :D

I've use that Nashua brand and it works Great. It also comes in Clear which is Cool.

ETA: The Fine Art of using Tommy Tape is putting the Right Amount of Stretch on it when you put it on Whatever you are Taping.

Too Little Stretch and it Doesn't stick well.

"Tommy Tape" is what people call Self-Fusing Silicone Tape who have been around awhile. Because back-in-the-day, Tommy Brand were the 1st to come out with it. Now, I'm sure, whatever Patent they held has Long Expired.

But the Name Stuck.

It's kinda Fun Stuff to play with. Like on a Rainy Day when the Internet is Down. Or when you notice there is a Drip coming from the S Trap under the Sink in the Bathroom.

One thing I would suggest is that you Store it in a Ziploc Bag when you are done with your Tape Project.

Sir, you live in So-Cal. Way back in 1972, I was led to believe that it never rains there!

Albert Hammond told it Straight. When rain actually touches the ground in So-Cal, they usually cut into Regular Broadcasting with "Breaking News".

That is why gave the Alternative S Trap scenario.

Great. I already have Rossum's white electrical tape stuck to everything in my house. Now I have to replace it all with Tommy Tape. :(

You think that is Bad?

Wait until the Topic turns to P-Touch Labelers.

Man, we used to make these dorm room mazes of beer cans (floor to ceiling) etc we would hang on to the beer cans (the ones we could keep track of) and make these floor to ceiling structures that you would have to WEND your way through.

I looked for pics similar but I guess we were the only genii to do this. I should go work for apple. LOL I really should, it would be funny. I would last maybe oh, an hour, but I bet they train you first.

In any case, some of that tape would have come in handy, but it was the purity of the wedging that was part of it. Like, sometimes you'd have to crush a can carefully JUST the right amount.

I think this idea (and if I had pics) might qualify me for the Visionary Arts Museum in Baltimore.

I don't know if it's good or bad, I mean you just look at the art, and you can see the "diagnosis" or at least I can.

Full time Alcoholic might have been my diagnosis though. I could live with that.

PS. We were also ALL underage. EVERY LAST beer can used in the art was like, purchased illegally.

Yet here I stand, not in trouble for anything. Dude. The government sucks.
