Does this vendor have great tasting flavors?

Well, TFA (the Flavor Apprentice) is a brand of flavoring that are available from multiple vendors.
You can buy straight from TPA (the Perfumers Apprentice) so YES, I would have to say they have many great tasting flavors,
but remember the flavor of your DIY juice is what YOU make it. Just because you start with good ingredients doesntmean it is not possible to get a bad juice.

Look at the list that has been posted many times with suggestions for starting percentages and use quality bases give them a good steep and you should have a good starting point to being on your way to having a tasty juice.

Every flavor has its sweet spot. If you go to low it won't taste strong enough and if you go too high it will be overpowering. You need to really work to find the Goldilocks zone- Every flavor has one. Once you find it you can start to play around and mixing up multi-flavor juices.

Generally in my experience you aren't going to get a amazing juice without at least two flavorings. You should go into DIY expecting every juice you make in the beginning to be so-so. Anything better than that you should consider a bonus.

I have found those starter percentages to be very accurate when it comes to strength. It is best so start at the bottom of the range.

TFA has some really good flavorings. Others are just nasty. It all depends on what type of flavors you like.

SALT WATER TAFFY: WL was kind to provide a free sample with my last order. I mixed up a small batch at 16% with 6% sweetener at 14 mg and dripped some into my atty. I was impressed by the delicious, genuine taste. However, occassionally, as the liquid dissipated i got the faint but distinctive taste of burnt hair. i peered into the atty with a flashlight and confirmed that no hair from my moustache had fallen inside. anyone else have this experience?

Fantastic thread full of very useful info, many thanks to all involved. I read the whole thing! I noticed a lack of espresso. As I have some on the way, I would like some clue as to what it's strength is like. I don't really want to mess with making flavors all that much, but I had a little room in the shopping cart from RTS to get up to free shipping and thought I might stick my foot in the water. I have chocolate, espresso, and DK Tab (555) on the way. If nobody has experience with the espresso, I will start with a drop or two and see how it goes. I like my coffee black with no sugar, but I probably should have bought some sweetener for my juice, or maybe the chocolate is sweet already?

Also, it's been a few pages, somebody bump this booty!

I have FINALLY tried RY4 double after hearing everyone rave about it for so long...Me and Bob_M met up today and mixed up a batch and we both agree it is EXCELLENT.

I made this first batch at 10%. Its good for the first few hits then it fades. I think 15% would be better. I made it at 50/50 24mg for me and 12mg for him. The caramel notes are excellent! It needs more though. I think next time I will bump it to 13% with some caramel original.

FWIW - I have noticed that my RY4 Double juice has just gotten stronger with age. I mixed it up at 10% and decided I liked it, so I mixed up a big batch so I have it for a while. well, I always let my juice steep for 2 weeks before truly evaluating, this stuff after a month was almost too strong and I had to cut it. I have also noticed a few juice vendors specifically mentioning RY4s when they talk about letting their juices steep. I think I just discovered why.

I have read Hoosier's blog and I am aware that flavor gets away at too high a concentration. I got 15% after multiple attempt so I might be at step 4. Unless TFA flavors are so sensitive that I overshot it, which is maybe a possibility. I am still a newb after all

Sorry I did not reply earlier on the thread. I completely missed it being buried in the TFA (very active) thread.

Hoosier sure is a popular person. He's also very nice. Since I'm new, the blog links don't show up. I spent a lot of time searching for them and finally PM'd him. He was kind enough to let me know I didn't have enough posts and what would happen after I had enough to see the blog links.

It's great that being a Newb here isn't an embarrassment.

Same here. Any espresso and chocolate recipes? I especially like Chocolate/Cinnamon. :)

RY4 is considered a tobacco flavoring. But it has very a very prominent caramel flavor. I also get some subtle vanilla notes.
I wouldn't consider it a strait tobacco flavor like virginia fire cured or TFA tobacco, it is more of a blend.

Incorrect, being a newb is grounds for an automatic ban. You should be ashamed of yourself.

JUST KIDDING! lol :p

Questions are encouraged. We all had to start somewhere. :toast:

I laughed out loud at the newb comment!

Alright, that helps me out. RY4 description is just fine. Guess I will give it a try because Caramel and vanilla are two favorites.

Thank you for the info and the laugh.

A tip for you- I heard a lot of juice vendors do this-
When making a chocolate flavor it is good to add a lot of vanilla as a base. You wont be able to really taste the vanilla because it is one of the more weaker flavors and it will make the chocolate flavor taste more natural/better.

I've tried this and it works.

Wow! I would have gone years and not thought of this. Thank you.
