Hey guys - so I've posted in the past with some flavors I already have and I've been playing with those and Bill was WONDERFUL and made me a list of basically 1st time flavors to buy which was great! I had quite a few but there were definitely a dozen maybe that I didn't have so I placed an order thru Wizard Labs which sadly just departed Orlando this morning (grrr). Can't wait to get that in! I also picked up the free sample from Nude Nicotine which is nice.
Anyway I just have a couple NOOB questions and I might actually spell this wrong but what is the 100DP test? Is it called a test? I'm not exactly sure. I'm reading this entire thread & I've actually been thru some of it more than once and I've been in process of making a document of not just recipes but also I guess you could say tips and trick? Thpse are very important to me - not that the recipes arent I can't wait to try some but the little tips and trips especially on creams and vanillas are going to prove invaluable. I'm a straight dessert vapor (with a bit of fruit mixed in here and there)
So that was #1 - 2nd question which I actually found on FB (I know I know - FB) I pretty much lurk thru the DIY groups trying to find some info. I'm not all about recipe's and just following other peoples recipes because I'm sure with everything I've learned I can be successful at making my own concotion (or at the very least tweaking a recipe to my liking)
Do any of you know what Milkstone is? Or Fruitstone? I have gathered from various sources it's basically a bunch of flavors mixed up to 100% and it's to be used as a standalone flavor in recipe. That much I understand.
I guess my question - because I've never heard the term used here - do any of you guys use Milkstone of Fruitstone? and if so in what types of recipes?
Thanks more than you could ever know! Monica
Oh also just one more thing. The only way I've been steeping is to set aside the ejuice on a shelf (covered) the (only time I would uncover is if the juice is perfumy or chemically) and to let it sit there for "insert time)"
I don't have a fancy mixer but I do own a crockpot. Do you think it's worth it once I really step it up to research and go the crockpot route?
Ok Monica, let us see if I can tackle at least some of this LOL
100DT = 100 drop test: Basically this is a 1 drop per 1% flavor test that a lot of us have taken up doing (thank's to Bill

). Simply put, if you have 70% VG, you add 70 drops of VG into your container and so on until you have 100%. If this does not make sense, please let me know, I'll walk you through it in a bit more detail. This makes roughly 2.5ish ML (depending on your dropper size of course) and allows you the ability to IMMEDIATELY taste your juice in a small amount. You can then adjust your percentages to your liking if needed and you aren't wasting a "bunch" of your lab goods-since it's such a small amount total!

Milkstone and Fruitstone are a "base" of sorts. Let me give you an example:
This is a Milkstone that Mrscorbin24 posted not all that long ago:
PG - 25%
Bavarian Cream (TFA) 45%
Coconut Extra (TFA) 20%
Sweet Cream (TFA) 10%
She lets it steep for a month and then creates this:
Cheesecake(Graham Crust) (TFA) 5%
Milkstone (all TFA) 5%
Ripe Strawberry (TFA) 10%
So Monica, that gives you an example of how Milkstone is created and used.

I would highly NOT recommend you using a crockpot or any other kind of heating device when steeping your juices. You'll notice by reading the posts here that with very few exeptions, most of us don't steep more than a day or two-IF that. When creating the way we do (flavor in the 20%-30% range) steeping isn't generally needed. Nor wanted.
As Bill has said a billion times-bad juice cannot be steeped into GREAT juice (ya ya, it's a seriously bad paraphrasing of what Bill says lol).
Back to the 100DT. Mix your juice with the 100 drop test, try it. If it is bad at that point-steeping it with or without heat is NOT going to help. PERIOD.
There is someone around here that may say that's completely wrong. But, I can tell you from personal experience-when you have something that tastes awful (I created one the other day that tastes like, well, honestly, vomit) I decided to do a lil experiment. I made up two 2.5ml containers. One went into a mini crock pot I have that holds things at about 200 degrees and one went in a dark drawer that I use for steeping. Both for 3 days.
Final verdict? THEY STILL BOTH ARE HORRID! In fact, I'll be honest in saying that the heat steeped one was borderline batter acid, I SWEAR! I think the heat made it a proiduct I should be selling to Die Hard! The non-heated one... still disgusting as well.
I hope Bill will chime in and do the whole heat vs no heat chemical bonding thing for you here. I just don't have the time right now to
My personal method is-Create, vape a bit, if creams and such need to "come together" (and you can tell this from your initial vape-It'll taste good, but if you let it sit 24-48, it'll be GREAT) then I have a lil plastic box that the bottles will stay upright in and I place the bottle(s) in there, into a cool dark closet or drawer and wait til GREAT!
Nicotine WILL degrade when exposed to heat/uv light/oxygen. Please take a moment to read:
Storing Your Nicotine Solution - Nude Nicotine
This explains how to store your nicotine base, but keep in mind these things when steeping your juice. You cannot expect the nicotine to be the same (and yes, this WILL change the flavor of your juice), if you heat the bejezus out of it hehe
Ok, I'll quit now! Let me know if you need anything else!
