Before I found this wonderful thread and learned about all the ways to use vanillas and creams I mixed my TFA Hazelnut @ 12% and added 3% EM. That was it. Just the 2 and thoroughly enjoyed it for at least 6 months. Sent some of it to my sis and she too really loved it. Give it a try and see what you think.

Keeping the creams and vanillas under 6% tends to enhance the primary flavorings, not impart a creamy vanilla flavoring for the most part. As such, the primaries taste better generally. It is a counter intuitive fact that this enhancement does not add the cream flavoring and vanilla flavoring, again if kept at lower levels, so add away without fear, generally speaking. This is a very common concern as many vapers want "only" the primary flavoring and can't understand why they can't get a mix to taste right using it almost exclusively, but that's just the way it works....at least for me.....and for many others, I'm told. Something like 90-95% of TFA flavors don't make good single mixes, even sweetened. I can't say that for sure about hazelnut, because I use it as a secondary and supplemental flavoring, but it's a good rule most of the time. Give it a try and good luck!

Unless you're paying over $1,000 per ounce for your raspberry or strawberry, I think you're safe from the Beaver extract. :D

Lol, The only reason I even googled this was because I made a raspberry donuts vape a while back and my wife said she wouldn't vape it because of what she had heard. So I googled it and found the subject hilarious. I'm sure it's safe to vape away.:w00t:

In a pure act of thread jackery, did you hear that the Taifuns have been yanked from Fasttech? I only ask because I know Bill has a fondness for them, and has posted the links a few times. I never even ordered one! :(

Somehow, I'll manage... Especially once they grind off the logos and relist them as "Stainless Steel and Polycarbonate Rebuildable Atomizer" or somesuch . I just ordered a GP paps clone Brass + Stainless Steel Mechanical Mod for my first FT order :)

In DIY news, I did make a blackberry danish, and it's quite good. I used too much Blackberry (14%) so I'll tone it down for the next round. Probably 8% or 10%, as Blackberry seems to be one of those strong flavors, at a high enough concentration. It's faded somewhat 5 days after mixing, but it's still on the strong side.

This is my testing with my espresso mixes. Although I don't want too sweet and creamy, it still needs the vanilla and creams to balance and enhance. Just getting to the right mix and percentage is the challenge. I learned this info from you Bill. That the creams, vanilla and sweetners don't have to "take over" the mix, a little goes a long way.

I'm terribly annoying, I know....

Finally got my brother to try and vape. As 99% of us, he said he would if you could replicate his Reds, he'll try.

I ordered some M-type. I'm not stupid enough to think that'll be enough, just wondering what you would suggest to fill it out.

Thanks and again, sorry for all the annoying questions.

IMO you cannot find a vape that is like smoking. You make up your mind to quit smoking and use vape to get over the cravings. Finding a flavour that you like more than grabbing a smoke is a bonus.

Mtype to me is a tobacco cookie with a hint of tootsie roll but not sweet.
Just about every tobacco flavour I have tried (from various companies) doesn't taste like tobacco to me.
RY4D and Black Honey Tobacco have a pleasant taste that hints at tobacco.

There seems to be more action for tobacco mixes in the Hangsen and Inawera threads.

I did know that, and follow that thread. Because I've ordered a few from there, I was able to re-order another one last night by selecting the "re-order" button. So, now my eleventh Taifun is on the way to me. :D

Just getting to the right mix and percentage is the challenge. I learned this info from you Bill. That the creams, vanilla and sweetners don't have to "take over" the mix, a little goes a long way.

Until I accidentally discovered this bit of information, I have to admit that my juice totally sucked for the first six months. When I made my simple Cinnamon Danish recipe (CD, Bavarian Cream, Cotton Candy), I fell in love! After thinking about it for a while, it occurred to me that the primary (CD) benefitted enormously from the cream and sweetener. Try CD alone, then add BC and CC. Night and day to me. I started to experiment with creams, sweetener, and then vanillas in the other primaries that I had, and guess what? THEY ALL CAME ALIVE!! With experimentation, I found that for me, if I kept the creams and vanillas under a certain percentage (about 6% for me), they did not take over the mix, but I had discovered DIY Nirvana. Total accident, and one of the ways that works to help make good juice. Totally accidentally stumbled across it, and been a happy vaper ever since. Now I have many more recipes, now far more complex, but fundamentally and foundationally, all based on this one very helpful tip. :toast:

Edit: More thinking....if you study some of the basic recipes for sweet tooth lovers:D, you'll see this principal in action in all of them. I posted this blog a while back, but it's very telling about the importance of creams, vanillas and sweeteners, sometimes with slight variations to create different "classes" of juice. Hope you all find this helpful:

If you want to make great single flavorings with TFA, try adding them to different mixes. They all seemingly improve with supporting flavors. Here's a couple of examples:

Custards

Cotton Candy - 7%
Vanilla Custard - 6%
Bavarian Cream - 6%

Add any single flavoring to this mix for a great custard. You just have to work out the total single flavoring you need, and it's generally going to fall in the 7 - 13% range. I would start at 10% and adjust up or down as required to match taste. I make this with Mango....YUMMY! :D

Chocolates

Milk Chocolate - 5%
Double Chocolate - 5%
Bavarian Cream - 4%
Vanilla Swirl - 6%
Cotton Candy - 6%
Butter - 2%

Add fruits like cherries or strawberries. Mix in peanut butter, etc. Sky's the limit. But chocolates are tough and require a lot of supporting flavorings to pull off, imho. Also, by adjusting the double and milk, you can change the type of chocolate from milk chocolate to dark chocolate. I make this with Cherries.

Danish

Vanilla Custard - 4%
Brown Sugar - 2%
Butter - 2%
Sweetener - 2%
Waffle - 1%
Sweet Cream - 1-2%

Add almost any fruit to this one for a great Danish. I like it with Peach, but works with apple, lemon, cherry, etc.

Creams

Sweet Cream - 5%
Vanilla Swirl - 5%
Hazelnut - 2-3%
Honey - 3%
Sweetener - 2-3%

This cream recipe is great with fruits and just about anything else. Add single ingredients to this in the 10 - 15% range. I would start at 10% and increase until you find the sweet spot. I use this with strawberry and banana.

Pies

French Vanilla - 4%
Sweetener - 4%
Pie Crust - 4%
Graham Cracker - 3%
Brown Sugar - 2%
Butter - 1%
Cinnamon - .5% (OPTIONAL)

Add your fruit (10-15%) or nut (5-10%) to this recipe for a wonderful pie flavoring. I use this with peach, apple, pecan, etc.

Tarts

Sweet Cream - 4%
Vanilla Swirl - 4%
Cotton Candy - 2%
Sweet and Tart - 2%

Wonderful starburst flavoring and great with cherry, lemon, strawberry, grape (with raspberry or strawberry), orange, etc.

Complex Creams

Add strong flavorings of almost anything to Cream Fantastico to make a delicious Complex Cream. This works particularly good with strong cinnamon's, tarts, etc.

Cream Fantastico

Blueberry Extra - 8%
Strawberries and Cream - 7%
Vanilla Swirl - 5%
Bavarian Cream - 4%
Cotton Candy - 4%
Sweetener - 2%

This cream mixture mixes surprisingly well with everything I've tried so far. In this way, it can "rescue" a bad mix along the way. So, adding this to other mixes can produce some remarkable results. Try adding this to my Red Vines recipe for example. Had one vendor say that mix was the best juice they had ever tasted. I mixed those two specially for her as she wanted a creamy red licorice juice. She claimed she could taste about 8 different flavorings and was blown away. Glad you liked it miss!

Anyway, if you are just starting out, get the flavorings in the recipes above from TFA. Add your favorite fruits, tobaccos, etc. to them and you'll be making great juice in no time. Of course, all recipes must be flavored to individual taste, but these will get you close, and most folks will like them just as they are.

Also, combine fruits too. Add pear and peach, or any other pairings together in the strengths suggested and make up your own magical juice that no one else has. Put your name on your new creation!

Also, you need a good juice mixing calculator:

eJuice Me Up - Best eJuice Calculator

Good luck! :toast:

I know Bill and I have a passion for the Taifun'...

The Hcigar is an awesome clone of the Taifun!

I put it next to my OEM, and ah like I can't tell the difference, except the price!

Oh..OH...I got a German Tin with my OEM (made in Taiwan)......LOL

Let's move it over to the Taifun thread, my friend. This is the TFA thread! :D

But.....OEM got me for two, hopelessly lost in the mix at this point, and can't tell a bit of difference....except I have two clones with narrow slots that really suck, that came on the "Gold" GT's.

So, how's your juice, my friend?

Yeah, like i said it is definitely hazlenut heavy on the taste,i like hazlenut, but next time i make it i think i may drop it to maybe 4% to see if the cream will come through a bit more, you would think with all the cream in it that it would be a creamy flavor, but to me it's a pretty dry taste.I forget where i found that at,i think it was on reddit or whatever it's called haha.

I actually need to flip flop this one. After making this and getting that heavy hazlenut taste,it sat in the cabinet for a few weeks forgotten about until the hazlenut question came up.I pulled it back out yeterday, and the hazlenut taste has really mellowed out alot,so i'm thinking Mattie's 12% may not be as potent as i first thought. So instead of dropping it down like i first mentioned, whenever i make this again i will bump it up quite a bit.

One of the best... away from notes every time I'm on here now, but this is a super FULL flavor... really rolled the dice, but it's great... like derailed without bitterness, not knowing what's in it, and even more full of a flavor. Just over 7mL/~30mL..works really well with my donut/danish mix (hate I ordered from TFA directly for my second order- I really don't think I'll get better results. Every flavor has been put to good use, and no robotusin tasting fruits(LA)).

Main elements - I remember being over or at 1mL: Cheesecake, cheesecake graham crust, cinnamon sugar cookie, frosted donut, strawberries and cream.

Less than 1mL: vanilla swirl, fruit circles, vanilla bean gelato, and I remember 0.3mL of Apple candy..

I can't wait till I have money for my next order.. going big!

Caramel 4
Graham cracker 4
Em. 1

It s supposed to be a close to mr good vapes sugar cookie. Let me know please

Different flavoring, different taste. Subjective. They are not the same, and not that close, imho. I use the sugar cookie in an Apple Jacks recipe and it's great, but it does have a distinct cinnamon taste. Not strong, but not like a sugar cookie. I would make two orders and pay the double shipping and get what I want, but I do know that sometimes, these things are not possible. Good luck to you! :toast:
