Are you trying to make a cheesecake, as Kiwi and I were referring to? Or are you trying to use cheesecake as a supporting or secondary flavoring, as MoV was referring to? Cheesecake does make a nice supporting flavoring in low percentages, but as a stand alone cheesecake, with or without GC, I've never seen a really good one. Perhaps Kiwi's 1.5 - 2% mix with strawberry will do the trick, but I haven't found that to be the case. As a supporting flavoring, say less than 3%, I think it could be mixed with almost anything, much like vanillas and creams work to make most other flavors work better. Just depends what you are shooting for. Good luck with your mixing! :toast:

Capella has an amazing cheesecake. It's my go to flavoring for making cheesecake recipes. Kinda like their vanilla custard v1

Bill, I'm not really sure what I am trying to do. I thought I wanted to build a cheesecake flavor, yeah. But having never vaped one that I really like (either of my own or a vendor's) I am not so sure anymore. Not that I've tried so many different cheesecakes--only TFA and the Killer juice version, actually. But I will probably experiment with using it as supporting flavor until I find a cheesecake flavoring that really hits my sweet spot. TFA does have a "thickness"--as I think you put it. KJ cheesecake has more of a sour note. Together they are a little less overwhelming than TFA's on its own, I find.

Thanks, shroomalistic for the tip about capella! :)

Edit: Actually, I just remembered I've had a pumpkin cheesecake from itcvapes which--after four weeks steeping!-- is quite nice. My (relatively uneducated) guess is that it has TFA cheesecake, pumpkin and a little bit of holiday spice (not pumpkin spice--such rebels!). Maybe some FA cream as well. lol...Just thinking out loud...blabbity blah...

Oh, TFA thread, how I miss mixing! The semester is winding down, so I should have more free time in a few weeks... maybe.

I've been surviving on Key Lime Pie and some Apple Danish here and there, but I will definitely need to make a TFA order soon as I used the last of the key lime.

Bill, your Peanut Butter Cup was rated at 6 out of 5 stars by my mom, who has been known to live on peanut butter toast.

When I get back to actually trying to create rather than copy recipes, I'd like to try things that aren't mimicking actual foods (mimicking is super hard!). So if I like strawberry and graham cracker, I'll throw in some creams and vanillas with the two, without trying to make a cheesecake, for example. I haven't tried that much lately or had any success when I did try, and I think it's in order.

So, that's it - just a check-in!

Thanks for the great reviews! Thought I would take this opportunity to list my chocolate recipes here. These can be tough to make, but once you learn how, they are all relatively simple, with only slight differences between them. I'm on a chocolate kick today, and plan to vape chocolates all day. As always, sweeten and flavor to taste. Your best mixes will be close to these, with your own slight variations. The mystery, though, of chocolate is now solved! Candy bars, cakes, shakes, pies, cookies, custards, etc., they're all here. Play with caramel, coconut, pecan, hazelnut and almond with these, and make your own choco vapes. All recipes except Oreo Cookies/Cookies and Cream use TFA flavors exclusively. Good luck! :toast: :D

I haven't had a chance to mix anything for the last few weeks, hopefully tommorow i will finally get the chance.I got tired of digging through all my little vials that were piled in a box to find the ones i needed,so i had to do some serious organization today.Went and picked a toolbox, should have gotten the bigger one,but oh well, this is still alot better than i started with haha.

Here is what i started out dealing with.
1st_zpsc45aba3c.jpg

And here is how the new setup looks, still had to double layer some, but definitely alot easier to find what i need now.

Woohoo just finished up my first 4 10ml batches about an hour ago.. Got all TFA flavors from Wizard Labs but since my KFL is still full, gonna let em steep til tomorrow..

Was gonna do em all at a 5% mix to start but judging by the smell I upped the Blue Raspberry and Watermelon flavors up to 10% but kept the Green Apple and Boysenberry (which really smells POTENT) at 5%.. I still have Grape Juice and Blueberry Candy to do but only had 4 clean bottles, the rest are still drying haha..

You folks that just do simple single flavors, how long do you usually let em steep for before trying em out??

Congrats on getting started! When you said your "first" batches, you meant your very first?

I am going to really get started mixing for real sometime soon, too. I finally plunked down substantial money on base fluid ingredients. Now, I figure I can't put-off buying flavors anymore. I mean, I can't let all that base fluid just sit there.. lonely :)

It's a little daunting, this mixing stuff, but SO exciting! Almost makes me want to go back to school to study chemistry. (Almost.)
I hope your flavors turn out great!

I should pick up an RDA soon I guess haha.. Just got my first Kayfun a couple weeks ago..

I've been wondering about the best way to test flavors, myself. People I talk with mostly seem to say that using small bridgeless atomizers might be best. Any opinions on that?

I have an RDA (a magma clone) and I can build it, operate it, but am not really proficient in its use. Altho it gives an excellent flavor blast, I don't see yet how using the RDA is much easier than using a tank when it comes to testing.

Any device can be used but what do you do to switch flavors? Bridgeless atomizers are inexpensive so that you can have many, and rinse them out after a test. Drippers like your magma may give better flavor but it holds a lot of liquid. Cleaning and drying is more work. A small single coil dripper may work well. I vape plain VG between flavors to clean out the old flavor.

I've tried 'em all, testing gear that is, and, generally, all the emphasis is on the wrong features, from my point of view. If you make a test batch of any flavoring, using say one drop for each 1% of the mix, that's 100 drops, or about 2.5 to 3.0 mils that you are making. Why not use a tank? If it's good, vape it, if not, you're going to pour it out anyway, and clean, rewick, wash, etc. between flavorings. changing a wick out on most devices takes a minute, whether tank or dripper. The dripper though does not hold very much liquid, so you still have all this wasted juice anyway. Also, it takes me a dozen or two vapes to really get the flavoring down anyway, and a tank is easier than a dripper. I'm referring to RTA's specifically.

To make matters easier, I have ten Taifun's wicked and coiled at all times, ready to go. I also have about twenty extra tanks on hand, so I can pretty much do anything as far as testing goes, and since that is what I vape with every day, I know what the juice is going to taste like in my ADV gear. Testing with one kind of gear, and then vaping with another, is not really going to work all that great. So, bottom line is use what you use to vape with every day and put in the effort to clean, wick, wash, or however, you want to prepare the gear for the next test. It's certainly possible to use the same setup without any changes to the wick or any cleaning/washing, just giving the new mix enough time to fully saturate the wick, usually one or two dozen vapes to get to that point, so you will need that extra juice from the tank to do that. I would say I do this the most, or do a complete change of gear. Bottom line is that you have to use whatever you have to work with. If you are going to add something, I suggest adding whatever it is you plan to use on a daily basis, and not a "special" setup for taste testing. Good luck! :toast: :D

I use an rda most of time to test just because it's alot easier, but the taste is quite different than what it tastes like when i put that same juice in one of my tanks. To try and get similar flavor,i set up the rda with the same wick/coil combo that i use in my tanks and that gets it close enough for me to know if it's going to be good or not.I tried testing in my tanks, but it would take me so long to take it apart, dry burn, and change wicks that i gave up on that plan pretty quick haha. With an rda,i just put a few drops on each wick, vape it,if i'm not sure i will drip a few more drops, then pull the wicks, dry burn and rewick, and i'm set to go again. To make it easier i have 4 rda's now,but even when i only used 1 it was pretty quick.I think the best option if using an rda though,is to get one that is very easy to work with,i've seen some that look like they would be hard to rewick quickly,i use patriot clones as they are very easy to get to the wicks.

Ha. The best way to commit to learning DIY is to stop ordering juice from vendors.

I kept putting it off because I always knew k was gonna be ok with my supply. When I decided to DIY, I went cold turkey on buying juice.

When my stash started to run out, I got more and more serious (mixed with panic) and now all I ever vape are my diy juice.

AH.... The power of fear. HEHEHEH.

What a good idea to stop buying juice from vendors! I'm pretty confident in my mixing but I still get a low level zamplebox every month. I like the variety and to see what's out there. But I will say it's great that these past 3 weeks or so I'm going for my own juice instead of juice made by any vendor.

Soon enough I'll be canceling that zamplebox. Thanks to threads like these!

I just placed 2 orders yesterday 1 from wizardlabs and 1 from onestopdiyshop -- got some more tfa flavors - capella vanilla custard - then finally FW yellow cake and a few creams tfa doesn't have.

Nice when you start coming up with your own recipes -- new goal is to learn the 100DT. Making 5-10 mls at a time is killing me!

Perfect for testing my DIY eLiquids !
I use a Russian 91%, and this is the "Guts" of it before tank assembly.
Put a few drops on the wick.... screw on the top and vape.....

Just MHO...........

Rad I should be able to do that with my Kayfun too hehe..

Lirruping - yep the 4 I made are my very first. Its just like building coils, its a lot easier than it seems. Don't get hung up on fancy recipes just start slow. I'm kinda lucky, I'm not into anything other than fruit flavors and I basically just want to have 4 or 5 around as my ADVs.. I would've just made 50 or 100ml batches but since there's no "standard" for flavoring percentages, figured I should start small and take notes first hehe..

Another way i have seen to do that,is to leave the chimney off so the coil and wick is exposed, screw on the tank section, then drip onto the wck and screw on the top cap.I've seen some people keep that as their main setup, they just run the wicks all the way to the bottom of the tank, but still keep the chimney off.

Hmmm sounds like the perfect use for the nano tank that came with mine! I should pick up a spare deck and leave it all intact!!

Yeah,i thought the same.I have 2 kayfun's,so thought about setting one up that way,but i already have 4 or 5 rda's,so figure it wouldn't really benefit me much.Although,i think it may get the taste closer when testing.May have to give it a try after all,i actually forgot about it until i seen Budds post.
