Is it because your glass bottles are smaller than they should be, or does TFA put e than 4oz of flavoring in the bottle? I only measure what I take out, never measure/calculate how much the bottle actually had in it.

I had posted about this a little while back. The last bunch of 4oz bottles I bought actually had a spec sheet with a CAD diagram showing dimensions and tolerances, etc. Their regular fill capacity was something like 118.2 or 118.4ml, with an overfill capacity of more, something like 122ml or something. I have generally been filling these bottles up past the "stop ring" for the cap -- basically as much as I can get in them and still get the cap on tight without displacing any volume with the poly cone insert (which sticks down a bit) -- so I am pretty sure TFA is just filling their bottles a little over to make sure they're providing you at least 4oz.

Admittedly, I haven't measured what I've poured out of TFA's or OSDIY's bottles into the glass bottles. (My original 4oz purchases along with the 6ml samplers were from OSDIY, before you hooligans convinced me to sign up for my own TFA wholesale account...)

I bet its really just OSDIY and TFA -- both -- just filling the bottles way up to make sure you get what you paid for. ("and then some", what I've been seeing). I've gotten at least 5ml extra out of some of these, pouring the leftovers into the vials.

Considering that I was able to make (2) 50ml bottles, (3) 5ml samplers, and run 4-5 100DT's out of a 6ml sampler of DK tobacco at 3% flavoring level last weekend -- and still had a good 1ml left after all that -- my point is really just that it might be worth keeping what you can't fit into your 4oz glass bottles and doing something with it - rather than just tossing it.

I had the glass vials lying around because of my original plan to start DIY mixing using some form of heat steeping method to accelerate the flavor/recipe development -- but that all went the way of the dodo bird when I found Bill's Magic Vapor's posts here.

I've experimented with cotton candy. It was in my first stretch of mixes. I'll bring it back up to the drawing board. I've also noticed (maybe it's just me) that the flavor profiles tend to die off after a few days. One other thing, in your Pink Starburst recipe will strawberry ripe replace strawberry? I have strawberry and it's god awful. Lol. Thanks Bill!

Regarding strawberries, I prefer the sweeter to the ripe, though I will sometimes combine them with about 2/3 - 3/4 sweet with 1/4 - 1/3 ripe. Regarding flavorings generally, the beautiful thing about TFA flavorings is that they work in combinations, and rarely as standalones. Many blah flavors come to life in more complicated mixes by adding creams, vanillas and sweeteners/cotton candy. It's just how they work. But, that allows us a wide variety in our creations. If we had to use flavorings that were all dominant, we would not be able to create the nuanced flavorings that we can with TFA flavorings. For this reason, I prefer TFA over other brands. There are many ways to eliminate floral notes. Many posts and blogs on this. Good luck in your DIY! :toast: :D

So I tried the Pink Starburst recipe today hoping it would bring out the strawberry but I get the same result from the strawberry. It's a very weird non-strawberry taste. It smells great but the taste is almost rancid-like. lol. It's not appealing at all and this is the problem I had before. All flavoring are new as well. Maybe it's just me?

That's the same experience i had with both strawberry flavors from tfa, they smell fantastic but something about them does not agree with my tastebuds. You may want to try capella sweet strawberry in place of them. That one i can use and like.
.

I agree. The TPA strawberry Flavoings I tried tasted to me like over ripe fresh strawberries before you toss in garbage. IMHO

This thread is amazing! Started reading through it yesterday and made it to page 101 so far.
Thank you to all of you for your thoughts and recipes.

I went a little crazy at WL today and ordered 30 flavors. It would have been more but my wallet was yelling at me. LOL guess I'm diving in. This is my first flavor order also.

I'm getting:

Pomegranate
Blackberry
Blueberry Extra
Caramel
Dragon Fruit
Grape juice
Juicy Peach
Lemon
Pineapple
Passion Fruit
Spearmint
Tutti-Frutti
Vanilla Bean Ice Cream
Wintergreen
Smooth
Ethyl Maltol 10% PG Solution
Cotton Candy
Cucumber
Hawaiian Drink
Key Lime
Koolada 10% PG
Orange Cream
Organic Strawberry
Peppermint
Rainbow Sherbet
Toasted Marshmallow
Vanillin
Coconut Extra
Double Chocolate Clear
You will have a really hard time making anything really good if don't also include vanilla swirl, Bavarian cream, sweet cream and sweetener, at a minimum. Creams, vanillas and sweetener/cotton candy are essential to most all TFA mixes to one degree or another. Your list is for primary flavorings. Secondary flavorings, though, serve to enhance and amplify the primaries and are necessary to make most mixes. Be sure and add those. Also, I have a blog about starting flavors if you are interested. Good luck! :toast: :D

It's not just you, my friend. Others have trouble with TFA strawberry. They work just fine for me, and you did mention that you copied one of my recipes that uses strawberry, so you may have to try another brand. I can say that most folks seem to like the mix you mentioned, so you may be in the minority, but it's all about individual preferences, and almost all recipes have to be adjusted for me to my personal likes. So, not too worry, just get what works for you and mix what works for you. All of us have to do this. Good luck! :toast: :D

Hey guys , I mixed a vanilla the other .. During the 100 dt test it was good .. But after I made a 30 ml batch and sitting for a few days it has a slight Pepper tang to it .. I've read where this might happen sometimes .. What's a good solition or is there one ? Or do I need to re test with something different ?

Van swirl 4%
French Van 4%
Bavarian cream 3%
Van custard 4%
Dulce's 2%
Cotton 2%
Sweetner 2%
Of coarse all TFA flavors ?

I also made a couple recipes I seen here

Lemon cup cake - excellent
Peaches and cream - very good
Twinkie - very good - light

And a friend wanted me to make him something with Hawaiian punch and orange .. He loved it , I personally wouldn't vape it cause it's not my taste but it was interesting , he described what he wanted .. So I made this below .. Said it was exactly what he was looking for

Hawaiian punch - 9%
Orange cream - 6%
Van swirl - 5%
baverian cream - 4%
Cotton candy - 4%
Sweetner - 2%

Thanks for everyone that has posted recipes and the ones I have tried .. Very helpful :)

I don't see anything there that I would think could cause a peppery bite but, have you tested your Nic, PG, and VG to ensure that isn't the problem?

My nic , PG and VG have always been fine .. It's just this mix

How old is your nic? If it's a bit aged, I've noticed more of a peppery note that some flavors just don't cover up.
Glad that you liked the peaches-n-cream, though... it is my favorite out of the recipes that I've come up with so far... I may still tweak it a bit, maybe bring in a little more vanilla...

It's not very old , a few months .. It's not overpowering and seems to go away a little more as I use the tank .. The flavor is good .. It just has that slight peppery taste .. I don't know :) and thank you for the peaches and cream .. Very flavorful ..
