hey guys i just ordered fruit circles and orange cream suggested percentages? i want a nice strong taste too it also i will be mixing those flavors seperately with no other added flavors thanks

The fruit circles is strong to me. I made a recipe that called for 7% and It overpowered the mix. Id start low. Maybe 2%. It has a dominate lemon flavor to it

dragons blood has been my adv since I got my flavors, but I still would like to figure out how to make the juice I love. I am starting to feel like the flavors are from flavor west that they use at my local vape shop, maybe I should try that route? I'm just at a loss I almost want to send one of you a bottle of it to help me out :(

ETA3: This is the single most useful thread on this entire site. And there are a lot of good and important threads on ECF.

This thread *taught* me how to properly make ejuice (when I was about ready to stomp my feet in frustration and give up in despair!), and Bill's the chief guru and instigator! :D

Seriously... I'd had a couple of successes, one of them with the Virginia flavor I used to like, believe it or not, but most of my efforts were uninspiring at *best*. Still got a couple of those lame-o efforts to dump and reclaim the bottles. :D But when I started reading and studying in here about high-flavor-mixing... well the next thing I mixed was my strawberry and cream, which has been my ADV for more than 3 months at this point. It's been tweaked a bit to get the best possible flavor, but I absolutely wouldn't have this terrific vape without this thread.

how does the flavor taste on its own? im not looking for anything specific also what percentage? i am new too diy but i know how to do it i just dont want to mix flavors together also because i cant order so many different flavors :)

Here is the Orange Creamsickle recipe:

TFA Orange Cream 9%
TFA Vanilla Swirl 4%
FW Vanilla Custard 2%
TFA Ethyl Maltol 5%
TFA Sweet Orange 7%

Now then you have to understand that flavorings are not extracts, that is to say that they are the building blocks to construct what we taste as a flavor.

Here is an example to help you understand flavorings:

A baker is making a simple yellow cake mix, but wants a little mocha flavor so he / she adds a small amount of mocha flavoring..tada Mocha flavored cake, but...you have to understand you just added a flavor to an existing mixture of components that gives you a "cake" flavor...already sweet, and ready to eat...see my point?

Any given flavor will not usually yield a palatable taste just on its own, it takes added components, such as sweeteners (Ethyl Maltol is sort of a Cotton Candy flavor), or for instance "Sweet Flavor".

Orange Cream added to VG and PG and Nicotine will be very bland when vaped.

Nicotine is bitter.
VG is slightly sweet.
PG is fairly neutral.

Depending on your mixing ratios, and nicotine percentage one particular flavor will usually need "something" added to actually yield that perceived or palatable taste of the base flavor.

If you want to try staying pure with the Orange Cream flavor I would add some vanilla and some sweetener to the mix for starters...

Perhaps Bill could suggest some starting percentages to help you along and not waste too much? :thumb:

...strawberry and cream, which has been my ADV for more than 3 months at this point...

...Just for convenience, here's the basic recipe:

Inawera Shisha Strawberry 16.0%
TFA DX Bavarian Cream 6.0% (6%-6.2% -- I vary it slightly sometimes)
TFA Vanilla Swirl 4.5% (4%-4.5% -- another one I may vary slightly at times)
CAP Sweet Cream 2.5% (2%-2.5%)
TFA Sweetener 3.0% (2%-4%, but the 4% is REALLY sweet -- it gets a bit much after a while)...

So I've been dabbling with the TFA Strawberries & Cream.
It's ok, but my next order (any day) is going to include Ripe Strawberry for a better go of it.
Probably start with more like 10-12%?
I haven't used the DX Bavarian Cream much at all, the Vanilla Swirl is so much more to my liking, but your recipe looks like a good place to try it.
It's an area I haven't quite got a handle on yet, what creams where and when - there are so many. I've already got 9 and there are so many more.
Seems like it would be easier and maybe even appropriate to just have like 3 or 4?
Vanilla Swirl, French Vanilla Crème, CAP Sweet Cream and CAP French Vanilla V2 ?

Will try a mix tomorrow with reduced creams for the cream already in the S&C.

Here is a very simple Strawberries and Cream that I like quite well as a ADV.

TFA Strawberry 12% you can vary ratios of regular and Ripe Strawberry to your liking.
TFA Whipped Cream 10%

Sweetener to taste!

I like the Capella Super Sweet as all you need is like 1 drop to 30ml! (tastes vary)

Very simple and comes out quite good for a simple mix! :thumb:

I find the perfect mix of creams with vanilla swirl, dx bavarian, and CAP sweet cream. The proportions of them may differ, depending on what I'm after, but those 3 are my "basic building blocks" for most that I've been trying. With the strawberries and cream, it started off as 6% dx bavarian, 4% vanilla swirl, and 2% sweet cream. With my "smocha," I actually use malted milk instead of the bavarian, and the proportions are quite different -- 5% sweet cream, 2.5% vanilla swirl, and 1.5% malted milk -- because I don't want that one to be as sweet, and coffee is better with real cream than anything else -- but the vanilla swirl and the very light touch of the malted milk add to the "cappucino/mocha" type taste, along with the chocolates. (I finally got some dbl choc-clear and mixed up some with that instead of the dbl-dark I had to stop using because of the sulfites -- and it's great!)

Since I'm trying to avoid diketones, it was a bit of an effort to find something that really tasted "custardy" without them, but to me, if you mix vanilla swirl with the dx bavarian, that REALLY tastes custardy! :thumb:

I'm not sure of the why's and wherefore's, but the fact is that single ingredient mixes don't work 95% of the time, and I completely concur with you. Your dream cycle recipe Is marvelous! Like you, I never met a recipe that I didn't have to adjust to suit my tastes and gear and power. Nature of the beast. Bland is an apt description by the way. It's pretty interesting that you can take say four ingredients, all fairly bland on their own, and make some delicious juices when mixed together. Andria's use of three common flavors to get her marvelous Strawberries and cream recipe is a perfect example. Any of us can mix these three or four ingredients, vary the percentages slightly, and find the perfect flavoring for our tastes, gear and power (heat). A tiny bit of effort using the 100DT is all it takes, and it's fun to boot, and I always have a sense of pride and satisfaction when complete. That's all DIY is....for me. Good luck! :toast: :D

I'm seeing what you're saying about the single flavor mixes. I tried the orange cream by itself and it is bland. I've run into the same thing on other flavors too. I need to come up with a list and put in an order for more flavors. I'm just not exactly sure what to start with.

I've written about starting flavors before in my blogs:

I agree with Nate, the ripe banana works best when used with either Bananas Foster or Banana Cream. On the chocolate recipe, you are probably missing sweet cream and TFA Sweetener, and likely vanilla swirl. You can't really make a good chocolate without vanilla, cream and sweetener, just like in real life. Butter helps too. That being said, the fudge brownie is the closest to any of the TFA chocolates that is vapable, imho. Here's my List of Basic Flavorings:

    Basic Flavorings

    Vanilla Swirl
    Vanilla Custard
    Vanilla Cupcake
    Vanilla Bean Ice Cream
    Sweet Cream
    Bavarian Cream
    French Vanilla Cream
    Dulce de Leche
    Cotton Candy
    Sweetener
    Brown Sugar
    Graham Cracker
    Pie Crust
    Marshmallow
    Sweet and Tart
    Butter
    Cinnamon Danish
    Hazelnut
    Koolada

    Fruits:

    Lemon
    Apple
    Banana Cream
    Bananas Foster
    Juicy Peach
    Pineapple
    Coconut
    Strawberry
    Raspberry

You will use these ingredients in 99% of your mixes. Of course, there are many others, but if I were starting out, knowing what I now know, these are the first ones I would buy. Single ingredient mixes will only vary rarely work. You do need the creams, vanillas and sweeteners which not only add depth, richness and texture, but also act as primary flavor enhancers. They work wonders. :D

Thanks for the list Bill. I will copy and paste it into a word document for safe keeping. I have maybe six or so of those so far. Yesterday I tried mandarin orange at 10% with 2% Bavarian cream and the orange flavor is still lacking. I've been trying to come up with an orange flavor that tastes more like the fruit or maybe even like orange punch like sunny d. I have tangerine, orange cream, and mandarin orange. None by themselves work for me. I am thinking of combining the three with some sweetener to see how that comes out. I know this is a total newbie question but what is the 100DT?

100 DT is 100 drop test

Substitute one drop per each percent of recipe...100 drops=100 percent

Another of Mr Bill's gifts to us ;)

    Thanks for the details Andria!
Nice to hear you work primarily with 3 creams.
It's like blueberry. I tried 5 blueberries, and found what I liked - ~10% Blueberry Wild ~4% Blueberry Extra. Done and done.
The creams were giving me overload.
To work with just a few will be much easier.
I guess once I get further down the diy path I can throw more of them into the mix.
