The State of Confusion
Regarding mixing order, there's only one vital rule that you must follow. If you use tank cracker flavorings (PG), you must add all the other PG flavorings and any unflavored PG together first, BEFORE you add the tank cracker flavoring. If you don't, you will get the dreaded white milky coloring, as if your syringe melted, or the bottle melted, etc. This is only because those tank cracker flavorings are not water soluble. So, if you don't dilute with other PG and add directly to the VG or VG Nic, it won't mix, as VG is full or water. Other than that, the order really doesn't matter too much. However you do it, and keep track of it, is the best way for you. So, follow this one rule, you won't have any problems. Good luck! :toast: :D

:2cool: :vapor:

You can also dilute with a bit of PGA (190 proof) , this will help to make it a soluble solution and mix with the VG.

You cannot substitute Vodka even at 100 proof because it is only 50% alcohol by volume, the PGA is considered 100% alcohol (even @ 190 proof)

200 proof grain alcohol is usually on available from pharmacies and is VERY expensive!

Cheers!

For those that get bulk nicotine, will it be ok for me to store it in the freezer in the plastic liter container it comes in until I can get a couple 500ml bottles.

Nicotine in VG or PG actually contracts in the freezer and seeing as it's dark in the freezer, plastic is fine, and it's also safer!

Oatmeal Cookie TFA

Oatmeal Cookie 10%
Marshmallow 4%
Sweet Cream 3%
Brown Sugar .5%
EM .5%

15 ml batch 6mg nic max VG. ultrasonic seven 8 min cycles with 100 shakes between. taste test with Derringer RDA 26 ga dual parallel coils 5 wraps .13 ohms. smell test by removing RDA top, hit the fire button and inhale through nose the vapor. it will make you sneeze but an easy way to differentiate the flavors present.

flavor is very similar to the smell from the concentrate. the concentrate doesn't really smell like an oatmeal cookie to me so the recipe doesn't either. I can pick up the brown sugar and think I could have left it out of the recipe. I think this is a fail but will let it steep a few days before tossing. if I decide to give it another try will lower the oatmeal to 3% and maybe add some FA cookie to help replace it.

I was unable to get an acceptable mix from this flavor myself, so never posted a recipe...let us know if you do though...

Yum oatmeal cookie. MBV has a juice called oatmeal treats, One of the few MBV juices I like. Please update once it has sat a while.

Agreed, it is a good one from Mbv! This flavor, imho, just doesn't taste the same. Reason I got was Hoping it would though, but maybe I mixed it wrong-too high or maybe raisin ruined it...not sure, haven't revisited since initial mix honestly....

Techy, you are back, all ok now???

Hey guys and girls .. hope all is well.. I have been "playing" a little when I have time :) I also had the page where I was reading from the past , well that changed since the new format .. I have to go through and find my spot.. I want to thank Bill and ItTechy for the stuff they put on drop box and shared :) I also did a couple mixes that turned out awesome ...

First.. I took Bill's milkshake base ..which is 24% and did a strawberry .. FANTASTIC !!! I will say this .. very close to a premium I have vaped ...

all mixes 60VG/40PG , 6% nic

VBIC-10%
Marshmallow- 5%
French Vanilla - 4%
Sweet Cream- 3%
Dulce De Leche- 2
Strawberry - 4%
Strawberry Ripe- 2%
This is not HEAVY strawberry but comes thru nicely.. this is my new ADV .. this is so thick, creamy and just goodness !!!

this next one is my creation ... this came out to be 26% mix ... I have already thought about I can make another juice out of this with sweet tart , sour and another more creamy.. this this mix is refreshing and thick..

Mike's Mellon Ball (nephew named it as we did the 100DT together)

Mango-10%
Pineapple- 3%
Honeydew Melon- 3%
Strawberry- 4%
Cotton Candy-3% (NOT circus)
Vanilla Swirl- 3%

I will make a couple variations with this .. this would make an excellent tart with sour or a cream ..but this original is great ...

ok .. an experiment .. this was good but not great and will reduce the mint and play.. but I just wanted to show you the direction I am going.. you can taste the cucumber and the mint (mint a little strong as it sat) I was going for the cucumber and mint infused water I make at home .. I think I will lower the mint to 1% , raise the cotton candy to 3%-4% and might even add a little more Bavarian cream to bring it through .. the 100DT seemed fine but I did notice the mint a little strong.. but when I made a 20ML batch and let it sit a couple days the mint intensified and sweetness went down.. so just giving you my "thought" process :)

cucumber-10%
Champagne-5%
Creme De Menthe_ 3%
Cotton Candy- 2% ( NOT circus)
Bavarian Cream-3%
Vanillin-3%

Thank you guys for all that I have learned .. I am making VERY GOOD juice .. and Bill.. I am addicted to your CINDAN but at 8% cinn danish :) its better than a premium juice that I use to vape that is well known :)

Agree, nothing but plastic for my nicotine! Can you imagine an accidental drop? :danger:

Sure, plastic can leach into juices, but not all plastic does this. Try HDPE plastic. This is made for pipelines and it's virtually indestructible for over 50 years. Makes a fine way to store nicotine. Try MyFreedomSmokes. They carry the HDPE bottles, as do many others.

Great looking strawberry Milk Shake you got there!

Also, the Mellon Ball looks great, as well!

Cucumber is out for me as a flavoring, and not a big fan of mint either, but we appreciate your recipes. Glad to have you on board and contributing. Many thanks for the kind words. Good luck! :toast: :D

I have a question about TFA creams. Most of the creams seem to have both an original and a DX version. Which do you suggest I should get? Thanks.

The DX version means its Diketone free, do your research on Acetion and Acetyl propionyl in juices then you can decide whether you wish to vape the original or DX version. To give you a heads up there is evidence to suggest the inhalation of Diketone is bad for your health, it's ok to eat but so say not to inhale.

Hope that helps

@robbieblood - thank you for your quick reply. I had read something about the Diketone issue. I was mostly wondering whether it made any difference to the taste since TFA still carries both. Looks like, despite the dangers, some people still opt for the original flavour, otherwise TFA would discontinue it. So I was just wondering what people here go for and why.

I buy whatever I feel like buying. No matter what I do, something in my body will fail and I will die. Avoiding the "what's in my flavorings?" issue isn't going to change that. My mother died of lung cancer 30 years after she quit smoking. I'm going to enjoy my life until it's over. I do try to avoid Darwin Award actives though!

I don't dodge it either, I've thought along those same lines but also with and inhale and exhale happening in seconds how much can actually be adorned so is it really that bad anyway - I guess only time will twll

I have a question about TFA creams. Most of the creams seem to have both an original and a DX version. Which do you suggest I should get? Thanks.

Great question, by the way. The great Diketone debate. The reason that TFA carries flavorings in both diketone free and diketone "laden" versions is that enough vapers are concerned about it to provide for a second flavor market for the diketone free flavorings. I haven't tried them, but I've read about enough "work-arounds" to the flavorings in recipes to believe that there is a difference in flavoring and taste with the diketone free versions. That's simply speculation on my part, based on observation.

Because I don't buy into the diketone free argument (please vape at your own risk and do your own homework), I don't use them, and my juice still loves me as it always has. I am, personally, mostly focused on my 35 years of smoking, and replacing smoking with vaping, a great step in the right direction, I hope!

If I was worried about diketones, I would also be worried about the air I breathe, the water I drink, the food I eat, herbicides, pesticides, processed food, etc., all of which are equally toxic to diketones, or worse. How about twenty five years of Roundup on our food, the most toxic substance on Earth to plants? GMO's were created to survive this toxic pesticide. Now it's in about 70% of the food chain in the U.S. You cannot live in urban/suburban United States, and prevent exposure to chemicals that are bad for you. I suspect many of them will get me before the diketones, and so I don't worry about it. But I digress...:offtopic::facepalm:

So, to answer your question, my friend, I believe there is a difference in taste, and using them, or not, is an individual decision for each of us. Probably too much information....sorry for the soapbox.

Two cents. Good luck! :toast: :D

Thanks all for your input. I did feel there must be some difference in the flavour. I get that kind of suspicion too when I see Version 1 and Version 2 of any flavour. I can't possibly buy all versions of so many flavours so I have to rely on my more experienced buddies on here. :)

I'll be switching to the dx versions as I use up originals, and actually hope to see more developed, and i think it's just so cool they developed this line; a few here have said they are very good...worst I can do is try them out

..then again at one time I did butcher my own chickens(roosters, well my hubs did the true butchering and gutting, I plucked) and grew own veggies/berries(yes canning too), used eggs from my own fowl, and likely will again when live on dad's farm some day...mostly cause I enjoyed it and tasted better actually...I am not health fanatic by any means, I'll be the first to say I love mcd's breakfast cause I find it tasty and I know it's not the best for my diet, but I just liked knowing how to be a little self sufficient too. (In general, I just like to do/know how to do some stuff on my own...sewing-clothing and quilts, car repairs to extent, home repairs...last 2 more hubs again, he gets "dirty work"). Yes there are many toxins, very bad stuff in our lives...everywhere....much overlooked, gov't approved....and yes, we all die eventually....

Not everything I use is ace/ap free though...not sure if ever will be(i got a thing for tfa white chocolate and butterscotch, but nor will I ever complain if ever make dx versions). part of joy of diy for me has been about choices...nic, pg/vg ratios, flavors, flavor %'s..up to the individual, I don't know if I would ever be able to go full flavorless either, never tried yet, not sure if really want to, many say it's great though. I do like tfa' s info on website, transparency, and them providing these options....choices are a cool thing. So I guess I am trying where can, but not to the extreme, nor do I judge those that are...we'll see as more is learned and make individual decisions as/if warranted....for all this stuff

Honestly I don't think anyone knows FOR SURE about the effects of inhaling substantial amounts of diketones; the best we can really do is exercise our own judgment and figure out what's important to us, individually. I personally choose to avoid them, because I have asthma and really can't afford any further damage to my lungs, no matter how slim that possibility might be. Others who have perfectly normal lungs may feel somewhat differently about that -- so it's great that we're starting to have a choice in the matter, just like with nic level, PG/VG proportions, and even the flavors themselves.

I think there probably are some differences in the flavors; to my own tastebuds, a mix of Vanilla Swirl and DX Bavarian tastes quite custardy, without any of the diketones I'd like to avoid. And I agree, I really wish they'd make DX versions of all their flavors that have diketones of any type.

I'm here, when I'm here
Howdy y'all! Started DIY about 3 weeks and I ain't doin' too bad. :D So I started reading this thread on page....1. Lots to read and a ton of super info. Thanks!! I kept seeing "the list" with all the suggested usage percentages and the list kept growing. Got to page 50ish and thought, "Dumb A! Go to the last page and work backwards to find the most up-to-date changes. Duh!!" (I'm slow but I'm steady. ;)) After going backwards for around 50ish pages, I still haven't found it. Did it end up in its own thread somewhere?

"The list" is basically an Excel spreadsheet that someone made up thats floating around in several places.. Go back a few pages of this thread until you find either ITTechy or Bills links to our awesome new Dropbox account. There you will find the percentage list, copies of Bills blogs, juice calculators, and a zip file containing a crapload of all the recipes gathered from this thread. In fact Bill just did the most awesome thing a few days ago and uploaded all of his saved in the E-JuiceMeUp Calculator format so you can load em right up in the app and get to mixing.
