Blueberry is the one disappointment I've had in my DIY adventures. Just haven't been able to find anything that really stands out. I've heard that the FA-Bilberry (Europe's version of a blueberry) is the best blueberry flavor out there. I need to pick some up and give blueberry another try.

The one I posted is not bad but the Blueberry needs to be stronger, I have thought about increasing the FA bilberry, but just have not tried it. The thing about FA, is to start very low, never at the same %'s that you would use with TFA. (3% is about the highest I would go with FA) Here is the link for the site that Robert posted, he said that the Blueberry is great, but I think he said he mixed it at 15%.

Flavor Concentrates - Highly Concentrated Natural Flavoring - Flavor Drops

I would like to try a bunch of these, but first I would want the blueberry and the grape.

Here is a recipe I tried recently. It's very smooth and full of flavor, not sure where I got the recipe.

White Rabbit
French Vanilla 12%
FW-Creme de Minthe 7% (I've heard the FW brand is better than TFA)
Whipped Cream 5%
Sweet Cream 2%
Have Creme de Menthe on my wish list for February, hopefully.

Like you, I too, must have my daily cinnamon fix....well, all day long, actually!

Sounds like a winner, but testing (100DT's) will confirm any direction and intensity changes. I tende to use graham cracker with pie crust, but never apple pie, as I never get a good flavor separation. I tend to explore the creams and vanillas carefully, as you are doing. I can see a drop of sour creating the apple crispness you talk about. Relative percentages is just trial and error, but I can see the mix is a great place to start. My guess is that you are five 100DT's away from a smashing winner! Good luck to you! :toast: :D

As I have journeyed down the rabbit hole of DIY - I find myself mixing differently now. I use to start with my base then add to that flavors I wanted in the moment and that was satisfying. Now, I tend to want to test for flavors - I want to taste the mixture before adding the vanillas, creams, sweetener. Yes, adding them can bring 'round the concoction but in my mind now - I want to make sure the taste as a whole is worthy and if in fact there be benefit to adding creams.

Here's how my mind is working based on my experiences - I have had pretty great success in most the DIY I have attempted. Some to my liking - others are in rotation every day - about 8 flavors. Now, why so much success? I have a wonderful base that I can add any flavors in my arsenal and be pleased with the end result - whether it is a flavor I would vape or pass on to to others - it is worthy to give a name. This I took for granted until I started wondering more about the ingredients in depth.

I wanted to know how orange and cocoa tasted without blending it into the base. The base can mask/change. So with these questions, I have started to approach my DIY path differently.

Bill - Did you find you changed your approach during your journey? Your writings have been such an inspiration to me to reach beyond the tried and true and be adventurous - let my thoughts lead me and explore past what I think I know.

Ramblings of a girl on vacation and idle mind/hands so I hope I didn't confuse/scare anyone with the insight...

BTW - has anyone ever looked at something - the ocean/sunset/trees...whatever, and wonder what that would taste like?

Ha Ha ms loud, i have indeed, have a Mauritian island cocktail dreamed up from doing just that. watching the anchored boats gently rocking at bay, with a vivid warm sunset... too much for me not to try capture and bottle. especially with a newly discovered cocktail at hand. would share here, but to be honest there isnt much tfa in that one.

And with regards to the fa bilberry... its brilliant, and really great when used with tpa blueberry extra. for a good strong bakery blueberry i use 6-8% tpa with 0.75 - 1,5 fa.

My vaping journey has been down, up and all around. I started vaping in 2009. Quit. Smoked. Vaped again in 2011. Quit. Smoked. Vaped again in 2012 and it worked! Each time a New Year's Resolution....so four years for me now.

The gear improved to the point to where I could get enough nicotine to finally quit smoking by replacing my urges with vaping in January 2012. We all have success stories. This last time I found a guy that made his own juice and had him mix up some 36 mg/ml juice....cherry as I recall. That stuff worked for me. I was intrigued that he could make his own juice and vary the intensity and the flavoring. I was paying about $20 for 15 mls at the time and wanted to find a way to reduce my juice costs. I discovered DIY and then launched myself into it, invested $500, and then tried for six months to make juice....AND I COULDN'T! Nothing tasted good....NOTHING! I had so much invested, so I didn't want to give up, but nothing I tried worked.

Some how I made a 46% cinnamon mixture that I liked. It's still my ADV, though I modified it to a 23% flavoring. Nicotine gradually dropped over time to 6 mg/ml, and the change was easy, and natural. For the six months that I couldn't make anything good at all, I tried low flavor mixes. When I switched to high flavor mixes, I could taste the juice on the fly, so I could experiment until I found something good. Took a long time to figure out primary and secondary flavorings. At the time, there were no websites, no real recipes, other than long steep concoctions, and very few of those.

I tried vape shops and used their flavor bars to find flavor combinations that were good, and then went home and tried to copy what I tasted. In time, I found flavorings that worked. In time, I discovered patterns in the mixes. Like you, in time I could design flavorings as easily on paper, as I could in the vape lab. In time, I was asked to make juice commercially. For a while, I was making 20 new juices a week. Literally thousands of 100DT's. I was as hooked on juice making as I ever was on smoking. What an adventure.

Today, I make half a dozen flavors of my most preferred, usually in my 600 ml beakers, and vape those. Along the way, I wanted to share my story, my successes, etc. with others, as I had a really hard time getting it to work. Much easier to learn today. Lots of pioneers have shown the way. New pioneers will show more ways. I've always been about helping the new vaper, the new mixer, as I completely relate to being lost in this world. I rarely go into the vape lab anymore. I may again some day, who knows. I know I only scratched the surface.

Others, like yourself, will add to the body of knowledge we now understand about vaping, mixing, etc., and more people will be helped, more will be able to quit smoking, more will make their own juices, and so it just continues with new stories all the time. I've shared what I learned, and I try to encourage others to post what they learn here, as well. Because the numbers on juice making are so profitable, particularly in bulk, many of our best juice makers keep their mixes a secret. I've never felt inclined to do this, though I don't begrudge anyone their hard work. Helping others, though, in the long run, is its own benefit, and far more profitable, I believe.

I'm encouraged every time I see folks posting their hard won juice battles, and find it gratifying when I read that all of our stories help the new vaper and mixologist. I don't have a lot of new mixes to add these days, but I'll probably stick around and enjoy the growth of this TFA thread for some time, and when I think I can add something, I'll pipe in. In the meantime, I do enjoy all of your stories. It's really amazing how far this thing has come! Good luck to you all! :toast: :D

I'm here, when I'm here
Blueberry mixes...yes. A royal p.i.t.a. to work with :grr: and get right, imo. Through many trial and errors (about 23 trials and errors ), I came up with a blueberry pie that ain't half bad. All TFA flavors except the cheesecake.

Blueberry Wild - 2%
Blueberry Extra - 7%
Piecrust - 2.5%
Cheesecake (LA) - 3%
Bavarian Cream - 3%
Sweet Cream - 1%
Vanilla Custard - 2%
EM - 2%
Smooth - 1.5%

24% flavorings but, yummm!

Soooo... I got a few flavors and some VG and nic delivered recently and decided to play around with a few flavors last night. I came up with two that are decent but I think they still need a little work. Thought maybe I'd post them up here and if anyone has the inclination to test them out and maybe give me a little feedback then we just might end up with something pretty awesome! Anyway, let's get this ball rolling...

Aphrodite's Kiss
Pear - 10%
Honey - 6%
French Vanilla Creme - 5%
Vanilla Bean Gelatto - 5%
Cotton Candy - 4%

a-ni u-no-le (Cherokee for "Strawberry Air")
Circus Cotton Candy - 10%
Strawberries and Cream - 6%
Strawberry (Ripe) - 5%
Dulce de Leche - 4%
Vanilla Bean Gelatto - 5%

Just a couple of notes on the above recipes:

A tad too much honey, I think. The honey flavor is rather pronounced, but the juice overall has a nice finish... not sure on whether or not I should reduce the honey. (Side note: TFA Honey flavor is very dark but gets sufficiently diluted for me in this mixture.)

On the a-ni u-no-le... still not quite what I'm looking for. Maybe Strawberry (Ripe) isn't the right flavor... something is off, but I can't quite put my finger on it...

I wanted to share here my big decision, I have been vaping since July 2014 when I quit smoking my pipes (40 year smoker). I started DIY about a year ago. Thanks Bill for all your insight. Slowly over that time I cut my nicotine levels from 18mg down to 0mg. I have been at 0mg now about three months.

This leads to my big decision, I will be moving March 1st into a 30th floor condo and have fears of smoke alarms going off from my clouds (I have had that happen a couple of times at my current apartment). I will be selling all my many RTAs, RDAs, Mods, building tools, and stands. In addition I have already listed all my DIY supplies and around 160 flavorings on my local Craigslist.

Vaping and DIY has truly changed my life, thanks again for all the help and support of this forum.

    Somewhere between here and there
I use drop count for the 100DT but use all of the same type bottles. Whitaker is right though. Different bottles have different drop sizes. It depends on how accurate you want to be and have your recipes repeatable. You could count drops from your bottles into a measuring flask or something to get an accurate count of how many drops it takes of your particular bottles to make a ml.

That actually makes a lot of sense right now... Probably why my mixes are tasting like crud.

Teach me oh wise ones!! I wanna make some candied clouds!

You should start by reading Bill's Magic Vapor's blog on ECF. Links should be on the first page of this thread or in his sig line. Drops are just too variable with viscosity, dripper sizes, sqeeze pressure. Thats why I use syringes & measure by %. Most recipes give the percentage of each flavor but you can adjust for your own preference after your first batch. Start new recipes with small 10ml batches & no nic so you don't waste your nic. E-juice Me Up Calculator with give mls, drops, & grams. You start with entering the percentage of each flavor & pg/vg/ info, calculate & it gives you the mls, drops, & grams for everything in your mix.
